Really great. I love the frenetic nature of it and how the long notes contrast with this.
Fractals by soulima 2 years ago
This is really great! One of my favorite of your pieces. I can certainly see it being played live - sounds like it would be great fun to play!
Dont copy and paste by ablackcloak9 2 years ago
I think what it seems you have done here is focused too closely on 'musical features' and on trying on fit them all in, with no emphasis on structure, melody or anything else.
Do you yourself like this piece?
Los Pollitos by mlpbadarak 2 years ago
This is a very lovely, amusing piece smiley It is sang very well, and I love the piano accompaniment!

Great work smiley Lovely singing!
Power v4 by Unreasoning 2 years ago
This was very enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the expanded use of percussion, especially the vibraphone and other mallets. It truly is a great work.

I don't think there was particularly anything wrong with Power v3, but this version seems to add a lot!

I would very much like to hear this live, and to an extent actually see it too! It sounds as if it would be thrilling to play!

I think what you need to do now (says he who has not composed anything of significance in over a year...) is to put this aside as 'completed', and work on some new pieces; I look forward to hearing the result.

P.S. It's a shame there are not more comments on here...perhaps due to the length?
The Ghost of Wolfgang by georgeptingley 2 years ago
I thought this was a very intelligent but also very enjoyable piece of music. The strings were a lovely addition.
The Public Gardens by CarlsmenFisher 2 years ago
Really nice. I like the syncopated rhythms. I have two little niggles however. Firstly, is this meant for one person to play? It sounds as if there is rather too much going on for one person. However, obviously if for more than one person that no longer becomes a concern!

Also, I was listening and wondering whether the bass notes (octaves?) seem a little dirge-like and repetitive (perhaps a little?) and perhaps lessening the bass a little might fit better?

Anyway, I did really enjoy this, but I thought I'd just say what I thought smiley
Mr. Henderson's Assembly of Light by Filmscorz 2 years ago
A great concept, executed very well smiley
I love you by Narananda 2 years ago
Great. Fits the title nicely.

The only niggles I have are firstly, that the strings sound quite fake, but I know you can't do anything about that. Also, try developing the melody more, or perhaps let the cello or another instrument play. Perhaps you could vary the accompaniment too, it doesn't always need to be block chords smiley

However, I really enjoyed listening to this.
Cordillera de los Andes (Remastred whit T-Racks 3 by toveco 2 years ago
Really great. The only thing I'd say is that some of the sounds (such as the choir) sound a bit fake, but that can't be helped. A great piece.

Lonely Lighthouse by jobu 2 years ago
Really cool. I like the guitar effect, and there's a great bit in the vocal line at the end of the chorus. Some really nice harmonies also. Don't really have anything to suggest...maybe a bridge?
Light Of A Thousand Candles by JoelGoffin 2 years ago
Very beautiful. It really fits the title. I can perhaps imagine a solo violin melody over the top, but it's great as it is!

Really cool. Nice use and manipulation of vocals!
O Padre Nostro by dirigent 2 years ago
Wow. Absolutely wonderful!
Larghetto from String Quartet by stviemr 2 years ago
I think I would have to disagree with quite a lot of Unreasoning's comment, and agree with your respone stviemr.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this, the melodies are beautiful without verging on sentimental, and I can see how this would work in the structure of a larger piece, or even by itself.

I think it is unnecessary to use techniques just for the sake of them, and I cannot see how this piece would have benefitted from pizzicato or anything else.

I completely agree about leaving the concept to the listener also.

I felt this built very well, and I really enjoyed it. The elements of dissonance and such are a great touch smiley

I have two questions. Firstly, what do you use to compose? Secondly, is there any chance of hearing the rest of the quartet?
Nunc Dimittis by JoelGoffin 2 years ago
As dirigent said, this is fantastic!! I love the driving percussion.

I love your use of some very low instruments in here!
Anticalia by AgrippaCornelius 2 years ago
I would say the melodic material is very nice, and very promising, but I don't think the piano sound on is own does it justice.
I see it is a work in progress, and I would definitely like to hear the finished version! I can see more instruments added, or possibly the piano track played live? Good work though.

Can't Buy Me Love by dirigent 2 years ago
Really great.

I personally feel the distorted guitar sound in the middle possibly detracts from the overall effect - it just felt a little random. The singing is completely perfect however. I love how the harmonies are different (to an extent) from the original.

I agree with the other posters - sounds great, can't wait to hear the rest! smiley
One Hundred Names on a Spring Evening by pierofix 2 years ago
This is really nice and ambient. The only thing I would say is that perhaps a flute could come in with a high melody to contrast the low strings/piano at some point during this. It's also quite short, but I can see why you like it! I do also smiley
The Bluesy Flutey by georgeptingley 2 years ago
Oh my gosh this is great! It's such a fun piece, and I'm sure it would be really fun to play.
Overture - March for the World by NickSeabra 2 years ago
Firstly, welcome to iComp! It's a great place to hang out.

This piece is really good. Honestly it truly is. I really liked the way it built up slowly, and it was nice to see the piano used in an orchestral environment. The only criticism I have is that I think it perhaps finishes too quickly, and I would have loved to here the climax for longer, with the piano in there too. Also, maybe in some of the passages with solo instruments, you could use instruments such as the horns/violins to kind of accent/play chords in the background.

Overall this is a really great piece, and that's just a few of my comments - I'm not saying they would make it better, but in my opinion they might.

If this is an introduction to your work, I'm very much looking forward to what's to come!
Tunnel to Velcro Planet by shavingronaldscar 2 years ago
You've really created a 'soundworld' with this piece. I love the really low synthy tuba-y thing!
The Lost City by Balok 2 years ago
You have really done some fantastic work here! The buildup is excellent, and the piece really evolves. It that a Garageband choir sound? It sounds awesome!
Experiment by Uplink 2 years ago
There's some really nice contrasts in here smiley As becwil suggested, it could easily be the opening to a larger work. However, it's really cool as it is.

This is so sweet and well...meditative! I love the sound of a bass clarinet.
Bed Farts by soulima 2 years ago
This is such a fun piece!! I imagine it would be great to perform! You've really captured the essence of the title! Did you come up with the concept first, or just start writing?

Also, I just found out what a vibraslap was (I knew them but not their name!), so your piece has been both enlightening, fun and extremely musical!
Dance of the Dunderheads by soulima 2 years ago
I love this! Possibly one of my favorites of your pieces! The little moments of dissonance and things are really cool.
Take Your Picture by Geechi3 2 years ago

Waltsing Frog by mkinnon 2 years ago
This is interesting, because you're obviously using strings...and then an oboe or something? It's quite hard to tell.

There are some nice touches in here, such as the downward runs near the end.

I think you've overused pizzicato strings however, and I think you need to make better use of the melodic material - at the moment in just seems a little 'random'. However, I may be wrong smiley

A Trumpety Idea by SANTARII 2 years ago
As the previous poster suggested, it doesn't really fulfill the title, and some parts do sound a bit low for a trumpet.

However, I like the melodic ideas, particularly before the non-trumpet comes in (synth?). I think you should expand this, perhaps just with the four trumpets. If you create a real sense of structure and contrast within this, keeping the good material in here, then this could be really great smiley

Edit: It didn't really fulfill the original title smiley
Grotesqueries for Orchestra - Third Movement by soulima 2 years ago
This is superb! It really fits the title so well.
The clarity and quality of sound produced is also quite astounding.
The Evil Lair by Tobz 2 years ago
Thanks for your comment.

I would agree with a lot of what you said - when listening now to this or indeed most of the things I wrote a year or two ago, they seem like little snippets of ideas, to which nothing has been done.

Thanks again - I shall certainly take what you have said into account if I do decide to visit this piece again at any point.

This is really nice. There are some very effective harmonies, particularly in the middle section.

My only criticism is that sometimes the texture seemed a little 'empty'.

Great track! Personally I would say the vocals are a bit loud compared to the guitars and things, but it does give it a good raw feel. The backing vocals are nice, and a good guitar solo. I like this!

March Of The Dead (Remix Instrumental) [No Sound Effects] by CrazyLocster 4 years ago
This piece is good. There are a lot of cool parts, although it does seem to "break" quite a lot, like every 4 bars, which kind of disrupts the enjoyment of it. I think if you added percussion that might better, but I still like it.
