Thanks, all of this is just a rough mix though, like really really rough. It was the default guitar tone in my ELeven Free plugin for Pro Tools, and the bass has nothing on it  And I just did quick basic drum EQs. I didn't mean for the kick to be that loud either. It sounded good on the studio monitors in the mix, but on my laptop speakers it's really loud. |

| I used Addictive Drums, which is a VST plug in. I then make 3 tracks, one for kick, one for snare and another for cymbals, and then I just go through the song playing each part of the drums. individually. I usually have to record each part a few times to get them all nice with each other though. | |

*grins ear to ear too* Great mixing job on it. Monroeville is indeed a sweet name. I can imagine like a guy smirking with a knife hidden behind his back when I listen to this. I was blown away by the music part of the song, really good and fills up the space nicely. And Uplink, what a guy. I can only say nice things about him. | Yeah, the EQ is a little heavy on the bass, I upped the lows purposely, maybe too much since before their wasn't enough. But as for the EQ going berserk... It's not your speakers, It's the low end that I just mentioned, it gives it that push into the distortion. Which in Logic, I didn't hear until I bounced the song out lol. I will be changing that. And I agree with the cymbals, I will change some of their velocities. And I could make the song longer. Still debating that. When I got to the end of what is currently "the end", I had even though that I will just leave that there as a temporary ending, and I could always change/add on some more to it if I wanted. a few of the synth sounds come from my MicroKorg, which typically is a favorite in the genre music I am doing, I could try to EQ them to sound "less 90's" I have this killer melody line for clean vocals, just have to find time to get those done though. Love the drums from the beginning. The guitars need to be brought up a little more, maybe taking away some of the low end on them will help clean them up and open up some of the highs in there. Also a little less bass on the snare would be nice, but I like the nice roomy feel it gives, and it blends nicely none the less. The song as a whole is nice and driving, and the progression is pretty cool. Once again, I really like the drums haha. |

| lol, as for the beginning, the snare stuff does sound off I was recording the snare track and got bored so I just randomly played and just never took it out haha But the intro WILL have more substance to it. and I still will fix some things. I just get impatient sometimes working on a song, and I get this far and then stop working on it for a while and just upload what I have done. |

The synths used remind me of Owl City's because they are more on the mellow sounding side. I really love the bass drum rolls you have going on. The only thing I would suggest is not to have it as repetitive. But it's nice there there are variations in there. The vocals could have a bit of reduction in the low end because it is blending with the bass, and use a bit of compression to even the loudness out. But it is really good nevertheless |

| I really like the intro. Maybe the tempo could be a bit faster, during the verses the drums and guitar seem to be a bit off. I have noticed this in some of my older songs, as with this song of yours... The song has an empty feel to it. like a lot of open space. Part of the reason is the drums. There is no real bass sounds to them. Some reverb on it will help, maybe messing with the EQ will be of some help too. With the tempo a bit faster. Maybe just like 6 - 10 bpm faster will be helpful. it will close some of those really open spaces and make the song move along faster. I have noticed similar things with my music. A faster song usually feels full and in tempo better than a slower tempo song. so try that. The guitar could use some work as well. It sounds really good, don't get me wrong. It has that feel to it. Can't describe it, but the distortion and stuff sounds great. It would sound better in my opinion to try to get rid of hearing the strumming as much. Thats one thing that bothers me in my own music. I play guitar I want to have enough treble on my guitar sound, but when I do that I hear the strumming, which in the choruses it gets to sound horrible, because you hear extra guitar noise than needed. Maybe in the EQ for the guitar track turn down the treble just a bit. not too much, and play around with the middle tones some. A second guitar track would be helpful too. especially with the tone you have. taking it back to some of my songs, Even just adding two background guitars, playing slightly different things sounded amazing. Have 1 guitar normal volume, the second, backing background guitar softer. it gives it more of a full sound. Also make sure your guitar is perfectly tuned  Some parts sound a bit off.Vocals are great. Nothing I can say for them, they are already good in my opinion except when you get to the "tool for you" you go a bit sharp. I don't think reverb would be need to be added. Some people may say that, but if you adjust some other stuff in the guitar and drums it will keep the vocals to sound good and full without sounding like you are in a stadium. unless of course you want that. lol A compressor may be a good idea in the master track for everything. it will give it an added full sound, bump up the volume without overdriving, and gets rid of volume variances. Make it a bit longer too and this could be a great great song. I look forward to hearing progress on this. -Uplink |
