@OddEO I guess we all think ours or someone we like deserves more recognition that they get. There are plenty here who fall into that category. Thing is, unless you are prepared to listen to others then they are unlikely to know who you are Now you may find this a false way to earn praise but I look upon it as a marketing tool. I listen to others not only to be turned on to great talent and great music but also to promote my own stuff. I never have to mention anything about a song in the forums or in chat or basically anywhere else. You give a little, they give a little. If the world was more about giving and less about taking it would be a better place.ok off my soapbox |

| I have just got back from watching the movie and man oh man for guys in their 60s they look good...in fact Jason Bonham looked old enough to be his father not young enough to be their son. Full marks to Robert Plant he may have lost his incredible head voice but he more than made up for it...his voice is truly a musical instrument. I know what you are saying though Z, it neednt have been so slick edit-wise...for those who love them we would have enjoyed it more |

| New Mic | 7 months ago |
| lol I paid $899 for mine cos of course everything is dearer in NZ but it was a pretty sharp price considering exchange and shipping I felt and I had a $285 credit sitting at the store. Plus add to that the $125 it would cost to fix my sennheiser and I really got it quite reasonably | |
| New Mic | 7 months ago |
| good link Bec cos the reviews there were really helpful Carla if you get a chance to try it I really recommend. the next one down in the series still has the main mics to select from just not 10 of em I think bout 6 or 7 and thats the one I wanted but my store didnt stock it and I either had to wait a few weeks or pay an extra $100...since I didnt have the use of my other cordless I decided I wanted it immediately |

| Ta luna...yesterday (thursday) the most polarizing man in our community (the CEO of our district council) accepted my invite to come onto my radio show on saturday so I have been prepping madly so as I am prepared enough not to sound like an idiot when I interview him for an hour | |
| New Mic | 7 months ago |
| With all the talk of radio mics having to change frequencies in NZ in another 2 years I decided not to get my old broken one mended. I liked my Sennheiser freeport cos it was light, but it sure didnt like being dropped even on carpet. So what to get to replace that would be frequency future-proof??? What I settled on was the Line 6 xd v75. It claims to be like having 10 world class mics in one...I was interested to try it and see. The XD-V75 is outfitted with digital models, or detailed sonic reproductions, based on the 10 most popular live-sound mics including a Shure SM58, a Shure Beta 58A, a Sennheiser e 835 and more. With the touch of a button on the microphone, you can select a model to fit your voice, your venue, or the rest of your rig. My personal prefernce now is the AKG D5 emulation which seems to fit my vocal style really well, yet its a mic that I had never tried before. The 14 available channels on the XD-V75 wireless system operate in the 2.4GHz band, free from interference from TV broadcast and white space devices. These channels are ready for use anywhere in the world, license free. You won't find this functionality on any other wireless system, and if you're planning an international tour this is your only alternative to having to source a wireless system in each country you stop in. Not that I am planning a worldwide tour but good to know ![]() All in all for the price I thought it well worth the try and I am not dissapointed |

| I couldnt believe it, I came here today with a few spare minutes to listen to some tunes...and I happened to look at my last upload and it was dated 27 July...where has the time gone? My life is freaking hectic at present...I have started doing a sports breakfast show on a saturday morning on a local radio station...2 hours of sport...well 2 hours of trying to sound constructive when interviewing the experts then an hour of talk back about local politics and issues in our town. It takes a lot of prep and although I can manage to fit it in around my other job, and the gigs and the selling of our house...it has meant that some things have suffered, namely writing lyrics and recording. I am naturally untidy and for me to keep the house tidy whilst it is on the market is a struggle...so all my clutter, including recording stuff is packed away. Thing is, I am missing it and the urge is building to drag it out and be back here. I have a song waiting for my attention...music by Thierry and lyrics by Marilyn and that will be my first priority when my stuff is unpacked...but I do have some lyrics that have been sitting round gathering dust. A couple I kind of want a celtic kind of style for. Anyway thought I would post them here and if anyone has any ideas music-wise they might let me know. thanks for the peruse and as always with any of my attempts at writing lyrics, nothing is set in stone so am always open to suggestionsOnce a sweet young girl met a nice young boy that long ago summer Seemed filled with joy Every day they would meet under the old oak tree No shoes on their feet, so young and carefree It was once upon a time near a village long ago Where a boy met a girl and he could not let her go Their last year of innocence became the first season of love Temptation and indulgence seemed blessed from up above So ambitions were forgotten and the wedding vows were planned And they stayed on near the village to raise a family on the land It was once upon a time near a village long ago Where a boy met a girl and he could not let her go Every year they still meet on their anniversary No shoes on their feet, ‘neath that same oak tree Where they'd laugh about their loving and fondly reminisce Then re-seal their bond with a heart stopping kiss It was once upon a time near a village long ago Where a boy met a girl and he could not let her go Yes it was once upon a time near a village long ago Now there’s lines upon her face, but in his heart he knows That with a twinkle of her eye he’s transported long ago To when that boy met his girl and knew, he couldn’t let her go next... rainbows, gold and other such stuff One day A lone little fairy through the morning sun was flying when she came across a leprechaun a sobbing and a crying oh why are you crying? She said to him, “If I may be so bold” he said a wicked highwayman had stolen all his gold the fairy couldnt bear to see the leprechaun struck with grief the little man in dire straits and all because of a thief and so saying to the leprechaun, sir please do not cry just rest a little now, I'll return in the blinking of an eye (chorus) Leprechauns are happy folk, they're never meant to cry But steal away their pot of gold and they will surely die And so the little fairy on gossamer wings did fly and called a fairy conference whilst hov'ring in the sky and when she told her story, no matter how hard they tried every single little fairy just cried and cried and cried and cried Now there's a little known fact that I have known for years and years concerning what is happening to a tiny fairy's tears when there's lots and lots of fairies and the teardrops start to flow a miracle in the sky occurs, we call it a rainbow (chorus) Leprechauns are happy folk, they're never meant to cry But steal away their pot of gold and they will surely die yes we've all seen rainbows, but most times we never know if or where it touches down, upon the ground below But with a little fairy sympathy to help one so forlorn the rainbow kissed the ground beside the sleeping leprechaun So when the little man awoke feeling sad and sick and old His wonder and his gratitude were something to behold! Because there at the end of the rainbow sitting there so bold was a cauldron just Leprechaun-sized, filled to the brim with gold (chorus) Leprechauns are happy folk, they're never meant to cry But steal away their pot of gold and they will surely die he said how can I ever thank you? to the little fairy fair then he danced a jiggy happy dance, feeling light as air with all his woes forgotten his cheeky grin was back as he hoisted up his cauldron and tossed it upon his back the fairy fluttered by him and kissed him on the cheek and the leprechaun looked dazzled as she began to speak if you lose your gold again you'll never need to sigh you'll find all of the gold you need from the tears the fairies cry. next.... ring around the roses a pocket full of rye, you look so in love and so am I circle in the starlight when the moon is full to honor the goddess, come do as ye will our bodies twine as one, naked on the hay heat flows from within as you take me where we lay we need no church to make a sacred vow just jump across the broomstick and I am yours for now and so the union lasts for one year and a day then if we so choose we can go our separate ways so ring around the roses with a glint in your eye you look so in love and so am I ring around the roses our hair is full of rye you look so love and so am I next.... I left my lover sleeping and wandered to the lake there's a secret I've been keeping that I don't know how to break my lover has been good to me, I know no hardship any more so how could I possibly tell him, I don't love him anymore I walked toward the riverbank where the willow trees stood weeping troubled to the core by the secret I'd been keeping I had it in my head to bathe before the break of day to conjure up the courage to tell him I was on my way. I let my hair come tumbling down like a veil way past my waist I cupped the cool and crystal water to take a little taste t'was when I had my head bent, a shiver ran down my spine I knew that I was being watched from the weeping trees behind Pure crystal waters wash away my sin take away my yearning and return my love for him So there I stood waist deep in water, long hair clothed my breasts reluctant to come to shore to be some wandering voyeur's quest So I dipped my shoulders neath the swell and decided I would swim to the opposite shore so I could try and get away from him but come the middle of the lake, my swimming strokes did fail as the cramp speared my ribs so bad, I released an involuntary wail I first began to sink, then I began to flounder panic increasing when I saw I should be rescued by the spying bounder I doubted my savior could reach me, before going down a final time yes I knew that I was drowning, a woman cut down in her prime But just as I resurfaced to draw one final breath Strong arms reached out to grab me and hug me to his chest chorus Relaxing in my rescuers grip I gratefully closed my eyes so it wasn't till we reached the shore that I finally realized the fellow who had rescued me, was the lover I'd left sleeping seems he'd followed me to the lakeshore to be sure of my safekeeping It was like a veil was lifted from my discerning eyes or maybe he'd just been hiding behind a very good disguise for I saw him quite differently than I'd ever seen before Thank heavens I hadn't told him I didn't want him any more And so my friends the moral's clear, think before cutting the ties given the chance to rescue me, had changed him within my eyes he was strong and kind and handsome, I was leaving, but now I won't cos its better to love the angel you know, than lust after the devil you don't Chorus x 2 next... When the doubter in me, met the lover in you it was easy to see, how love would win through when the doubter in me, met the lover in you when the doubter in me, met the lover in you it was pure chemistry, was so easy to do yeah when the doubter in me, met the lover in you you turned doubt into believin', a sinner to a saint but I swear I'm hearin' wedding bells even though you ain't even though you ain't when the doubter in me met the lover in you I craved your company, yet somehow you withdrew and now the doubter in me is so easily confused yeah the doubter in me is so easily confused when the doubter in me, met the lover in you Shoulda just let you be, cos now its all fallen through Shame the doubter in me, met the lover in you you turned doubt into believin', a sinner to a saint but I swear I'm hearin' wedding bells even though you ain't even though you ain't Shame the doubter in me, met the lover in you etc next... Roleplay When a man meets a woman and kisses her hand She thinks chivalry's not dead in this messed up land It will take her some time to understand That's roleplay, nothing more than roleplay When woman meets man and flutters her lashes And he gets a good look at the cleavage she flashes It'll take some time before his libido crashes cos that's roleplay, nothing more than roleplay (Chorus) Roleplay – You better be a careful thinker Roleplay – or you'll swallow it hook, line & sinker Roleplay – The art of spinning a line There's been roleplay, since the beginning of time When the sap is rising and he becomes amourous It'll take all her skill to remain cool, calm and glamourous cos he won't have her meet mom if she's brazen and infamous She'll need to roleplay oh yeah she'll need to roleplay And when he's down on one knee and asks for her hand She's all dewy eyed imagining a diamond, gold band That she can flutter on 3rd finger left hand reward for her roleplay, reward for her roleplay (Bridge) So you best weigh it up before you do if what's good for her is as good for you Think! Can you play this role for life buddy? If not, then you may need an understudy Chorus x2 and adlib chatty thing out |

| Rhythm Guitar - what is it? | 8 months ago |
| I think a simply explanation lies in the way the music is played. The lead guitar is as described, it is what gives you the soaring solos etc...whilst the rhythm guitar faithfuly maintains the rhythm and integrity of the music | |

| I had one briefly and took it back. Not that there was anything wrong with it, I was simply doubling up on equipment. I have a tc helicon voicelive 2 and can use that to record with via usb, so as I dont play instruments I didnt need the firewire etc. I did however have difficulty in getting it to play via my pc, no probs with mac though |

| Miles my dear I feel for you. So sorry to hear you are going through this, I do know what a marvelous father you have appeared to be...you obviously idolise your son and that neednt change even though you are not living together. Never forget communication is paramount...that and NEVER EVER falling into the trap of criticising your spouse or ex in front of your song. It may seem futile now because she is probably doing exactly that, but later when he has grown up he will understand that you took the higher ground and wherever possible, was always there for him. | @Orpheus if I may suggest something...if you upload massive quantities of music you dilute your listenership. We all have lives outside icomps...I know many in the same boat as me, I have only a small window of listening time. If I see an artist uploading indiscriminately I may listen to 1 then pass the rest by. That is a shame for both you and me if you happen to be good at what you do. If you only uploaded one per day then it would show up whenever you listen and comment on others, which would encourage folks to take a listen to you. Its a win win situation, but if you overdo the uploads then folks have no idea where to start so generally don't |

wow Luna for me it was the summer I met Clive Robinson he was lead singer in a band called Sentry and it was love at first sight for me...I was just another adoring female for him. But he did ask me out on a date. He was a surf lifeguard so (cheap *******) took me to the clubrooms the day he was on duty...Vicki was way out of her comfort zone spending the day in a skimpy bikini...but I got to run along the beach in slow motion before baywatch had even made it to the screens ![]() Anyway I ended up dating the lead guitarist in his band...slightly less of an ego. That golden summer when we were all together lasted a year lol I dont recall it being cold at all over that 12 month period. Clive used to hate it when I danced in front of the stage cos it took attention away from him...He did have an incredible voice though...shame he never made it big, he really should have. Then we all went our seperate ways. The year was 1974 and the song I would probably do would be America's Tin Man cos it was the song Clive did on his first tv appearance...he did a good job but the song is a weak representation of what he was capable of and I believe that was the defining moment. He didnt light up so he was no longer considered. |

If the computer has a designated soundcard then its an improvement, but I have been using external usb sound modules now for bout 5 years and it really does help improve the quality of sound and latency issues to a degree. The program I work with has issues and is a pain in the butt...I have my mac of course but while I had the inlaw infestation I moved all my recording equipment to the other sitting room so I could lock the door and have some alone time...havent got round to plugging mic etc back in to the mac.... @hiphopmoses will probably need one of our sessions to bring me back to speed ![]() |

| http://www.karaoke-version.com/ is quite an interactive site...by that I mean you can request songs plus they have editable tracks where you can leave out the instrument you play so as you can play along. The only other I would recommend is sound choice |

| thanks Dave, I thought I had heard similar rumblings...if it wasnt for the ibook author app I wouldnt even consider it. Maybe I will see if Steve will get an ipad when he travels and he can load it on there | |

| I was wondering if the upgrade to Lion is fraught with issues or is it plain sailing? I was talking with Jack Fancy yesterday bout ibooks author and it seems something I might be keen on getting my teeth into, however I would have to upgrade my os to do so...so am I likely to strike probs upgrading? | |

Now you may find this a false way to earn praise but I look upon it as a marketing tool. I listen to others not only to be turned on to great talent and great music but also to promote my own stuff. I never have to mention anything about a song in the forums or in chat or basically anywhere else. You give a little, they give a little. If the world was more about giving and less about taking it would be a better place.
for me it will be the equestrian events
