attempting to assemble a band. new song mostly finished. other song written, but I'm not even going to try to record. went to my first metal concert last month.

I finally bought my Adobe creative suite. oh photoshop, how I've missed you

so I put new strings on my bass today. it was a massive pain in the ***, I have I feeling I did it rather badly, but I managed nonetheless, and I like how it sounds now.

finally picked up my instruments again. working on a few projects

my Girlfriend, whom I loved very much, and still do, left me on saturday. I will not go into too much detail, as thats more personal information than I care to spill on the internet.. also likely have walking pneumonia

I have a guitar now. some sort of Ibanez (used), bought for $125 from the local music shop. play well, nice natural wow finish. has a few scratches that piss me off but other than that its a nice looking guitar.

So with the money I got for my birthday (I turned 18 on thanksgiving) I bought myself an Apogee Jam audio interface, so I can now plug my cello and my bass directly into the computer. It works amazingly. also I have some songs written and in the process of being recorded, and garage band is again proving its insufficiency for my needs. and I'm again wishing I had a band.

So I figured I'd make a post about my favorite metal vocalists, not in any particular order, but the ones I like most, and have either influenced me, or wish I could claim that they had (alas, I'll never sound like Dio and probably never be able to hit Halford's highs) I've divided the list into 3 basic categories, clean singing, Death vocals, and Harsh vocals (between clean singing and death vocals, still singing but rough, like many thrash bands)

Today I bought a used bass guitar for $90. after a little cleaning it looks really good, and it plays quite nicely. only problem is the built in laptop mic I've been using doesn't pick up the really low notes very well.

Instrumental tracks for next song finished. vocals on way. gonna take a break from absurdly long slow funeral doom pieces after I finish album. try doing some black or stoner metal next.

An Album... It is coming!!!!!! it will be a short, 4 (maybe more) song thing, but the first song (already made) is 11 minutes long, the second one (half finished) is 16, the 3rd will probably be as long or longer, and I'm not sure how the last one will be.

new song. more funeral doom. even slower, it craws along at 20 bpm. spent a lot of time with the drums/percussion, layering the loops just right. its very textural, ritualistic, and huge. drum loops are all that are finished now. rest should follow soon.

I finally got a "guitar" tone that didn't suck with my cello. in short, I plug my cello into an amp with effects, record it with a microphone as a really instrument (rather than plugging it into the computer and using GB's built in amp modeling thing) and then throw additional effects on it (typically a light distortion and varying amounts of reverb.

I have recorded a song, a whole song, with vocals, and drums (albeit loops, but they work really well) and everything! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I created a new Deviant Art Account and posted a bunch of my more recent (and some not so recent work)

as i am beginning to record songs, I need people to fill in the bits I can't do myself, namely drums. some songs might benefit from vocalists, bassists, or guitarists, etc. help with mastering/production would also be appreciated

at about 4:05 today, the fedex guy showed up a the door with a box that could only be one thing. My laptop is finally here. YAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

depending on whether or not people think its a good idea, I'm going to upload a bunch of my unreleased, and sometimes unfinished songs that have not previously seen the light of day.

I havent died, and I'm still working on music, but I may not have anything up for a while. I've been spending a lot of time working on college stuff (mainly scholarships) and haven't had much chance to record. there are a number of songs in the works, some of which show promise. there have been a lot of failed given up on ones too, which is part of why I haven't posted anything lately.

I finally got an electric pickup for my cello!

a song came to me in a dream. I can't quite remember the whole thing, and I've forgotten more since I first woke up, but the main parts remain in my mind. I hope I can bring this from my mind to reality.
