| dark side hard style by Lapskin | 4 months ago |
| This makes me wish I still had a keyboard so I could make me some hard style of my own (even if I could afford one, I doubt it would fit all that well in my dorm, and the one at home is hooked up to the family desktop computer and not my laptop). Pretty awesome song. I've always been fond of the darker and harder styles of electronic music, probably because I'm a metalhead, so this is just how I like it. | |

| Black Snow & White Ash (v1) by Vlazreus | 5 months ago |
| Thanks! the whole thing was played on a bass, and when I tried recording a bass part underneath the lead line, it kept sounding rather odd, not meshing right. I'll probably try again. thinking of adding more to the bridge. I plan on doing the vocals myself as soon as I have lyrics. | |
| Black Snow & White Ash (v1) by Vlazreus | 5 months ago |
| Thanks. I tried specifically to emulate the guitar tone (on my bass) of early swedish death metal bands (namely Dismember) , gritty and rumbly, even a little chunky and muffled on the low end, but clear enough to be listenable and with a clear, singing tone for the higher register. I actually layered three tracks to get that sound. one main track, and then additional track where I only had the highs and one with only the lows. I treated the low track like a bass track, less distorted, but still similar to the main track but deeper and fatter. the high track I tried to make as smooth and clear as possible without making it sound acoustic. I then blended the three tracks to get the sound I wanted. | |

| Pragmatist (new guitars) by Conspiracy_of_the_Crest | 5 months ago |
![]() The song overall sounds good, but the guitars aren't very clear, and sound rather thin. the guitars have a low fi feel that clashes with the production of the drums. perhaps if you brought them up in the mix? |

| Bass Demo III by Vlazreus | 6 months ago |
| Thanks. some of the riffs may be recycled into a more fully fleshed out song. I have two Ideas I'm playing around with right now, one called "The Lament of Akkad" and the other "Kaddath in the Cold Waste" the first title is a reference to the ancient Akkadian empire, and the second is a reference to H.P. Lovecraft. | |
| Bass Demo II by Vlazreus | 6 months ago |
| Thanks. I was going of that industrial, edgy sound, and I'm glad to hear that it worked. most of the song was played with two handed tapping, but on one string, rather than doing arpeggio pattern things like my first one. I kept one hand in more or less the same position and used it to strike the higher notes (I alternated between to of them) I used my other hand to strike the lower notes, and I kept bouncing back and forth between the two, leaving a split second for the open string to ring. I've always like those kinds of rhythms and you can find them in a lot of my songs, I was thrilled to discover that I could play them on the bass almost the same way as I would on a keyboard. | |
| Bass Demo I by Vlazreus | 6 months ago |
| Thanks! I've only had my bass for about two or three weeks, so I've got a ways to go on my technique, but with practice, I think I can do pretty good. perhaps I'll remake the song when I'm better. the sounding like a detuned guitar may be due to the fact that the bass is in fact detuned. I attempted to tune it to C-G-D-A, like my cello, but I misplaced my tuner, and it is slightly off. also, the strings slipped out of tune slightly, particularly the one I have tuned to low C. by using Higher Gauge strings, I hope to alleviate that problem. |

| In Darkened Hours by Vlazreus | 7 months ago |
| Hmm, you know, I think I'm actually going to redo this one, with my actual cello. the main riff is an old favorite of mine, and I rather like the lyric fragment I had. I'm not sure why this song bothered me so much in the past. the main issue seems to be the drums which don't fit properly, and the heavy part towards the end which is just sloppy. of course this song is more than a year old at this point. I believe I'm going to resurrect it and make it better. | |

![]() NICE! I'm a fan of metal and dub step, so this is pretty cool. garage band fails on me when I try to add a lot of bass, and getting the wobble to work is a pain. I know that Garage band is not the best program for this kind of music, but its all I have at the moment. |

| an Excellent cover, with great production. the instrumentals are perfect. your voice is also excellent, but it's a lot closer to Ozzy than Dio (which is Why you sounded so amazing in your cover of black sabbath) just not quite the right type of voice to sound best with the song, since the rest of the song is so close to the original. if you had tweaked the arrangement or something to build the song around your voice it might have sounded better. still, Awesome. I'd love to hear you do more covers of Ozzy Sabbath, and you'd probably sound good on songs that had that other guy that was in sabbath, the one most people don't even know about, whose name I cant remember. I think you'd sound great doing Zeppelin too. out of curiosity how high can your voice go? Judas Priest? Anyways, I'm thoroughly impressed |

| Vivaldi Double Concerto for Two Cellos in G minor (audio re-upload) by Vlazreus | 1 year ago |
| I've been playing since third grade, about nine, almost ten years now. THe cello is a great instrument, and its probably easier and more comfortable to pick up than a violin (how they contort their necks and wrists like that is beyond me-we get to sit down and hold our arms in a natural position) I will say that its quite expensive to get a good cello. as an amateur you probably wouldn't need anything fancy, but just getting a full size cello that doesn't sound like complete crap will cost a least a thousand dollars. I (my parents) spent roughly $5,500 on mine, and another $500 for the bow (the quality of your bow will make a huge difference. you can get a good carbon fiber bow for the same price as a crappy wood one. don't bother with cheap plastics becuase they're terrible, fiberglass is OK considering how relatively cheap it is) and another $500 on the case (need to keep my cello safe, cuz I can't afford another one) $2000 dollars will get you a decent electric cello, and $5000 is pretty much where electrics max out for price. I would suggest a Mark Wood or comparable instrument. avoid cheap Yamahas like the plague, they've got issues. | |
| [The Demons Inside] 04 Murder In Monroeville by darkhatred | 1 year ago |
| Wow! I'm working on the song you gave me. I think I've pretty much figured out how I'm gonna do the vox, I just need a chance to record at this point, hopefully my Hardware will cooperate when I get one. I'm getting a kinda hardcore vibe from it, so I'm gonna try to go for that kind of feel with it. |

| Normally, I'm not fond of DnB because I like their to be a little more going on in a song, but I can tell this was well done, and It was quite catchy. the bass lines were cool enough to make up for the fact that they're the only thing there and it has a very crisp and clean feel to it. | |

| Well, considering I lack an electric guitar and suck at playing guitar anyway that might be difficult. you can expect some stuff recorded with my real cello fairly soon. at this point all the drums are loops I gathered after much intense rummaging about the internet. once I start recording some real songs on my actual instrument, theres a drummer at my school who will probably be doing drums for me (his drumming is insane) and one of my friends is giving me a drum machine. I'll even have stuff with vocals eventually Glad to know you like it. |

| CelloTest I by Vlazreus | 1 year ago |
| Any comments are appreciated, as always. I'm especially eager for suggestions on how to make the guitar (well, really cello) tone better, more a thick, deep crunchy distortion rather than the harsh, buzzy, saw like sound I have now. | |
| Hand Of War by Vlazreus | 1 year ago |
| thanks! the Guitars are software instruments and they're actually just a garage band preset, 80's electric I think. all that I did to them was take off the chorus effect. I Think the sound is from a Jam pack, because it was on the computer at school, but not my home computer. as for the bass paying, since I'm a cellist I have more of an affinity for the bass and I always try to make sure that the baseline gets the love it deserves. most of my other songs actually have 2 or more basses and the bass is even the lead instrument. |
|
| Ages by Vlazreus | 1 year ago |
| I really glad to hear the positive comments on this one. I think I will try the things long shot suggested by doubling the bass in a higher octave (I think I'm thinking of the same part of the song) If I get a chance I certainly will record vocals for this one. however, since that may be unlikely, if anyone else wants to take a crack at it then they are more than welcome to. I think this song deserves that nice finishing touch. sadly, this is the best guitar tone I've been able to get out of GB. I'll talk to some of my friends and see if we can get this done with real instruments. its just hard with my rather cluttered schedule and lack of a proper recording space... and I'll try not to disappoint on my next song. | |
| Hand Of War by Vlazreus | 1 year ago |
| thanks! I shall try to see if I can improve the sound of the loops, or find better ones for future songs. if circumstances permit I do plan to add vocals to this song. it would be great if I could get a real drummer, but that may not happen for a while. | |
| G-TEST Dance Metal by SmellKellHell666 | 1 year ago |

| great song all around. I love when metal has harmonies. I can hear a definite iron maiden influence, as well as the folk influence. the bass playing during the guitar solo reminded me of black sabbath (this is a good thing, I love their bass lines) I especially like the darker part towards the end, and I can hear subtle hints of melancholy black metal throughout, even besides the obvious part. I really enjoyed listening to it. | |

![]() while I may not be able to evaluate it as constructively as Eidolonia, I will say that is sounds really good. the performance could be a little tighter in spots, but it doesn't detract much from the song. if you hadn't pointed it out that you messed up some of the stuff, I simply would have assumed it was supposed to sound like that, and that you'd done it on purpose for atmosphere and stylistic reasons. also, the garage band drums detract a little, but theres not much that can be dun about that. |
|
| C Sharp Minor by Fhoard | 1 year ago |
| really sounds good. I find using interesting key signatures always yields good results. I myself tend to use f minor because its one of the heavier sounding keys I can easily play in on my cello. | In The Shadow Of The Sun by Vlazreus | 1 year ago |
| thanks for the feedback when I go back to fix the sound effect problems I will tone down the swishy things a bit. there were parts where they bothered me too. the water sounds are a wonderful apple loop called scuba breathing, can be found in the sound effects section. its always encouraging to get such positive feedback, especially when it is also objective and helpful as well. | |

| ...And So We Wept (v1) by Vlazreus | 2 years ago |
| thank you for the feedback, I found it quite helpful. I will probably delete the sound effects that got messed up, and I think I may add some synths over the first section to break the monotony up a little bit. while I haven't heard that specific song, I am familiar with MDB's music and they are one of my favorite doom bands. I may try adding vocal samples if I cannot record vocals. If I do get a chance to record vocals, they will likely be in a similar style to MDB, though my voice is lower than their vocalist's. I think I may put in chanting as well. |

| I am glad that you like it, but I am doing this more for my own sake. when I re-listened to this recently I found it almost painful to listen to. also, since this song may never end up with vocals, even if I finish the lyrics I want the instrumental parts to be able to stand on their own. It will still have the same basic theme, but it will sound a little more polished, and less redundant | |
