Had a smoke, lay down and listened. This is smoother than the felt on a pool table! Excellent collaboration. I enjoyed it even though my tastes aren't geared towards the soul/jazz genre. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate the talent though. smiley

[quote="QuillPen"]A GOLD NOTE !!!!!............I just found out about the silver, and gold notes today, and what they stand for. Don't know if you've had one before, but Congratulations all the same. Quite impressive.....
What's the gold note dude? I don't know of this! Hope it's a good thing! smiley

I think some well deserved sympathetic percussion could make this great! Not that it was bad in any way buddy. I just felt something was missing. But sure, it's all subjective isn't it!

Nice job on the old ivories though. smiley
Requiem for a Dream Cover by JDVLZ 14 days ago
Rather than biting at the critique you asked for, how about taking out the parts that were quite right and using them to better yourself as an artist and musician? Every single one of my guitar heroes has had their fair share of it and do they whine and complain? Nope, they take it, go practice and prove everyone wrong.

The reason I said that is because I was like that. Many years ago. And it got me no help because not one single person wants to help or advise someone who isn't appreciative, understanding and has the temperament of a mutated pack-dog. Yeah, that's how bad I was.

People have already made the points that I was going to make on this track, so it's up to you what you make of it.

@SISTERS Many thanks Anne. I know this sort of track isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I'm sure glad that some people like it! Your comment and feedback was very much appreciated. smiley

@QuillPen Hi buddy! Hope the sabbatical was an enjoyable one. smiley Hope life is being kind too. Thanks for the comment, as it gives me the kick up the hole I need to actually do this crap. Haha.

@pharmakeus Chris, you're a diamond mate. You think the problems could be alleviated with a decent compressor plugin? I'll give it a shot and get off my arse and actually do some research to get to the root of the problems. I've had Abelton for ages now and still only know how to push the record buttons! smiley I'm glad you liked it too, and I'm never too busy to add anything to your projects when you need it. I'm a fan, what can I say!

Being a good Irish boy I can connect with the Edge-esque delay/echo. I think it makes even the simplest little riff stand out but it only works well when whomever does it knows what the hell they are doing. And you obviously do. Keep up the good work bud. It was a pleasure hearing this.

Always a pleasure to hear your tracks my friend. Always. This has Al Di Meola written all over it! Actually it has you written all over it, it just has some Meola touches and they stood out as I'm a fan of both Al, and yourself. This is going on my MP3 player for sure. smiley

@GuitariusMaximus Cheers Scott, as always buddy. I think I've actually narrowed the problems to the PC's soundcard. Everything sounds great through my DAW and it is only on playback that to me it always sounds less clean, slightly muddy. My tone through the speakers/headphones sounds good, but when I record it sounds real dull. Little sustain, some latency and dull, dull, dull! It's severely off-putting when you know it sounds better before you listen back.

Oh, and I must have hit iComp at rush hour. haha. No other explanation! smiley

Thank you dude. Thank you.

@Tony2008 Thanks buddy! I used one of my six-strings, Yamaha RGX I think but I set the whammy pedal 1 octave lower on the rock-back and went to town. I'm surprised the pickups handled the lower range ok as they usually don't cope as well. I think I'm just in a bit of a lull period or something, but I will work with what I got I guess. Cheers for the comment, it was really appreciated man. Thanks!

@GuitariusMaximus: Thanks dude. There were very little in the way of parts of this online.Had to figure the damn thing out and just improv the rest. Sounds damn close (barre quality obviously) to the original.

@sammydix, Future vocals? Future collab on all fronts my man! Thats what the doctor ordered, as I do admire your work. Oh, and you'd be mixing, I'm terrible at that sort of thing. In reality I keep hearing to "just play your damn guitar, Allan" as Geo used to message me to say.

I like the feel, its punchy and the rhythm parts fit nicely. I have lead sounds in my head so will jam along here! It does need a big sweeping solo though, as the harmony solo sits good, but doesn't kick you in the face like the rest of the track. Consider it if you go back to this. smiley

Thanks becs! I'm still struggling with programming, even after all this time with Beatcraft and Addictive Drums etc......I try to get something that gives a flavour, but hides my complete inadequacy with the software. Hence more sparse feelings in the rhythm section. Same can be said for my bass playing too I might add. I sort of bodge my way with it.

Thank you for the listen, and the helpful words too. smiley

Thanks Scott, glad you liked it. Man, a stroke eh? ****! I seriously hope all is well again, as you know I'm a fan of your playing. And your health too obviously. smiley

@mxiarhos,

Many thanks buddy. I'm not really a mixing kinda guy, I just play, record and push buttons until it sounds reasonable and pop it on. I'd rather hear a great player with terrible mixing than a terrible player with a good mix. I'm an ideas man. I like trying new things but solely with my instrument, not a computer. I guess I'm old school, as well as just old. haha.

Cheers amigo. smiley

As a guitar player I focus on that and the lyrics, so I cant comment on the mix, to me it sounded great. SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION by JAM 2 years ago
Grand job, can I ask, apart from the vox what else did you perform on this one? I think the backing needs cranked up a notch to get the heavy end of Megadeth's stuff as its kinda vox focused in the mix, but you did a great take. One of my favourite Megadeth songs. Well besides every single track on Rust In Peace that is. smiley

I'm rating it now, not for what we played, but because it was the first track I ever did that felt so damn good. I think this needs a few little fills, but the simplicity of it makes me think that the less is more approach works.

Blues undertones, but with a little fusion input. Genres are for those that want to pigeon-hole music. This is what it is, a great guitar track. Nicely played, great feeling, and an assault on the senses.

At first I thought you'd gone a bit Chicken Oriental (mental) for approaching the track in this way, but now its all put together it rocks. I think you all did a great job on your parts, and I'm glad Scott was mad enough to ask me for a little something to add to it.

Crazy track, but then I'm not sane either so it suits me just fine.. smiley

Unfortunately the 'Haves' will always stomp the face of the 'Have nots'. Its why they have in the first place. Feeding off the ones that want something a little bit better in life.

On to the music before I get off on a rant...

I dig the tune, really nice progressive style keys and flow. I'm gonna download and jam some guitar over this at home for practice. Nice sound, real YES meets Dream Theater sort of feel. With a bit of Genesis thrown in.
