Biography

artist08 first broke onto the music seen in the early 80's. With an androgynous look and a tendency towards the risque and sublime, his fusion of rockabilly, funk and pre-neo neo-soul made him the critics' darling. However, after refusing to participate in We Are the World and releasing an album under a pseudonym, an unpronounceable phallic-shaped symbol, entitled "I Am the World," he quickly lost favor with critics and fans alike. He didn't release another LP until the late 80's, when he entered his self-titled "experimental phase." Using only tape loops and the sounds of his environment he released the much maligned "Elephant Seals Mating" and "Porcelain Princesses," which featured the sounds of various houseguests using the toilet (unbeknownst to them).

The 90's were not kind to artist08, either. He tried to make a comeback with an album of off-color children's songs. With titles such as "Jack and Jill Become Lovers," "Straight Poop from Birds and Bees" and "Mommy's Birth Canal," 08 was practically banished from the music community forever. artist08 soon became a recluse, often shunning the elaborate parties and star-studded events he had once been a staple of. It was rumored (but never confirmed) that he lived in isolation on Easter Island for a whole year without uttering one word to another human being.

artist08 re-emerged in 2001, but had practically abondoned music for his newest passion - cryptozoology. He and his team researched areas where supposed cryptids and other anomolous animals were to have resided. Sasquatch, Skunk Apes, Mothman, various lake monsters, El Chupacabra, Mokele-Mbembe were all exposed to scientific scrutiny. All the while, of course, film was rolling for a documentary that never saw the light of day. Due to an unfortunate incident with a cheese grater and a pair of women's underpants, artist08 was once again displaced from a cause where he had considered himself an important innovative force.

This leads us to the present. In late 2005 artist08 rediscovered his love for music by accidentally discovering an iMac computer and a website called iCompositions. Those serindipitous events have proved to be a catalyst for the artist's new, low-key, recording career - iComp artist! Still striving for artistic perfection and desperate for comments and constructive criticism, artist08 now happily lives his quiet life in rural Pennsylvania with his wife and son.*
