| A Better Yesterday by OctoTrice | 5 years ago |
![]() ha ha, good critiques only huh...you know i'm gonna tell it how it is. generally it is full of lovely bits, but overall it feels a bit too disjointed. yeah the end is nice, i love the drum roll just before the end too. i think you could really simplify any section of this and make a great beat for an emcee with it. o.k., you kept this as an instrumental, so you had to find ways to make it more interesting...in that way, i think you could have made it a little tighter. hope that's a 'good' (honest) critique. peace. ash |

| TRYING TO FIND powermac by wal4u | 6 years ago |
![]() first of all: WOW, you have created a piece of Icomp history here. this track will be talked about for years on this site. 230 listens in less than 24 hours. as for finding POWERMAC99, I heard he was just the prototype, POWERMAC100 is being released next week! be afraid, be very afraid! (btw. it's a HUMMER not a beemer) ashwan no profanity here! move along. |

| Erieseries-One by GSG | 6 years ago |
![]() good crystal clear sound. lots of space in it. it lacks that extra element, like a vocal or some nice cuts. you need to hook up with an emcee or find accapellas some place (try ccmixter.org). apart from that...sounds good. peace, ash |

| Official Sounds by ashwan | 6 years ago |
| yeah, i agree curious sounds better when he is on a more kicked backed vibe, and i think this track worked really well for him. thanks for the great feedback. GSG, sorry i have not heard any of your stuff yet...i will go check it out now. peace, ash |

| Let's Take It Back by ashwan | 6 years ago |
| for sure Octo, let's take it back but while stepping forward and pushing what we are capable of. the danger i see in a lot of new hip hop is that it lacks the FUNK and SOUL of early stuff. without those elements, we got no hip hop. Thanks for the feedback guys, coming from some of the sites finest it means even more. ash |

| funny sh1t how many people here have studied art at some point. i wonder if john lennon would be uploading beats here if he were around these days (he studied art in Liverpool, for those who didn't get that reference). anyways, thanks for the good feedback. |

![]() thought I'd repay the visit and found this...good stuff. would like to sample this and make some hip hop with it. as for the piano solo, the notes sounded good to me, besides, is it possible to have a wrong note on something you've composed? ashwan |
|
| Multi-Dimensional by ashwan | 6 years ago |
| i dunno, i think the hook is tight on this. i don't think this is a particularly great track though, but it has more to do with my production. it just gets a bit boring. still it was made a long time ago. anyways, thanks fo yo opinion. i am gonna be getting rid of some tracks soon, and putting new ones up. this is one that will be going. ash |

| Slow Down by OctoTrice | 6 years ago |
![]() damn, this nearly blew my head off when it kicked in (i'm in the phones). phat. i love the sound of the snare (and kit as a whole), bass is interesting, but that guitar in my right ear is driving me crazy now, could use a little variation. I liked the out of key piano bit, i would have tried to use that somehow (maybe not that easy, but...) i apologise though, i listen to your music and critique it from the ears of someone who produces...i always relate it to: what can i learn from this? what would i have done with this? that kind of shi(zz). feel free to ignore me coz i aint no Premier! peace, ash |

| This is a Man by OctoTrice | 6 years ago |
![]() tight beat, good clean, poppy sound. i would change one thing though...take out the scratch and either put in a real scratch or a drum roll or even just leave the space. this beat needs a dope emcee and a deejay to lace it with cuts. peace, ash |

| Scratch DJ by DJMarvel | 6 years ago |
| i am feeling the beat on this, but i gotta be honest, i am not feelin the fake scratchin at all. i would rather hear this with all of that taken off. get a nice emcee to ride this beat. i haven't rated it, sorry, but i would have to be harsh...didn't want to be because i liked the rest of it so much. | |

| Thanks to everyone for the love. Phyllie, just got to point out, ASHWAN IS NOT and NEVER WILL BE an emcee. trust me, when you hear me try to string a sentence together, you'll know. but, the emcees in this tune (in order) are NEPTUNIUS, LYRICIL and CURIOUS. but you're right, there are some tight verses on this. peace. |

| LOVESONG by curious | 6 years ago |
![]() sorry kidda, had to give you a 4 for production, just coz i'll be out of a job otherwise. but that compression is workin on the vox...soundin cool...did you try running the whole tune through it too??? props also to Metro Williams. yo, if you didn't mail those other vox already, you can just mp3 them. that way i can get the other tune sorted out. peace.a1. |

| i consider thatdebate open CURIOUS, and areally big debate it shouldbe. in fact everybody, feel freeto massdebate all over this track...special thanx to CHATTABOX (the ali g soundalike....yeah right) for his dope input into this track. CURIOUS, we spoke earlier about some of the issues with the production....it was a headphone mix and i think your bit of the chorus is a bit quiet in the mix. i can sort that out and send you a cd. CHATTA: if you want a cd, email me your address. Peace. Ash |

| yohmar, the rap was by CURIOUS, so that is his department. i can give it a go, but trust me, you wouldn't get a very good rating for it! hit me up with any ideas though, I can always ask CURIOUS if he's into doing it. peace and thanks for the comments and superstar rating. ashwan |

| 5th Street Interlude by AtommikBoy | 6 years ago |
![]() esimmens, i wonder if the effects like compressor have actually been your undoing here. i agree with liquid, this is a dope dope dope beat, but you go listen to something well produced, i don't know, even on this site like dappadons "escape" i was just listening too, check out the space in the production, everything has room to breathe. i would go back into this and play with the panning more and maybe ease off on the compression. this is a mistake i always make too, trying to get as much volume as possible, but it squeezes it together too much. u still get props though. peace. ash |

| ARN, yeah i got decks, had em for nuff time but i still can't even scratch my *** too well. curious lays down 90% of the cuts on our stuff and 100% of the good stuff...he's got skills, taught him everything i know (then he went an learned a sh*t load more). peace.ashwan | |
| Soundman (Ashwan RMX) by ashwan | 6 years ago |

| You Bet Your Brass by macsnob | 6 years ago |
| just gave this a listen cos i read the story of your grandfather and the organtar....great story, thanks for sharing. really wonderful pictures too. remind me of a paul auster book for some reason...not sure why. as for the music, it really feels hemmed in by the loops. my opinion, which aint worth sh*t, is that you should try break from the rigid loop structure...put in half bars, open the space up with extended reverb on various sounds on occasion, then drop back into the beat...that kind of thing. it didn't have a live, energetic feel at all, but i think that was mostly the structure. the tune definitely had it's strengths. i'm not going to rate it though...but i don't mean this in a negative way. ashwan |
|
| BANGIN AT YOUR SPOT (OLD SKOOL ROCK RMX) by ashwan | 6 years ago |

| WAKE UP low bit rate by ashwan | 7 years ago |
| thanks for listening ghostman, and thanks for you response. my opinion is that curious is original, witty, sharp and Funkin intelligent with a good delivery. i love Can I Bus too, no question, but curious is curious....check out the old skool artists cut, his lyrics on that are tight as hell and super hi-brow. he's a smart kid. hope you like it. ash |
