i use ableton live 8, reason 4, and the computer keys as my keyboard (i like it) and i just love writing melodic ambient electronic music ... it's proper tastic!
i also have grade 8 piano, and used to play the sax in a funk band with some school friends, called "charlie's time machine" after an hilarious incident involving heinous and controlled substances.
influences in terms of music i make are all ambient/electronic and trip-hoppy stuff - especially boards of canada, orbital, maps & diagrams, autechre, massive attack, kruder & dorfmeister, arovane, bonobo, lackluster, proem, f.s.o.l., bauri, the orb, christ., deru, ochre, astrobotnia - the list goes on and on and ariston ...
also, i love dub, reggae, hip-hop, drum n bass, 60s/70s rock (mainly Pink Floyd), some folky stuff, funk, jazz and psychobilly sub-overground neo-garbagecore (ok, i made that one up)
