Biography
I came from a very musical family as my mother was a concert pianist, my father and brother were in the Houston Symphony Choir, one of my sisters was an opera singer and my other sister was an actress who could belt it out with the best of them. I thought my music career ended in the 10th grade when I dumped the clarinet for soccer, yet was always disappointed that I never got included in school bands that would form up. I was a little shy back then (yeah, I know - that's changed quite a bit), but I learned you had to come out of your shell if you wanted to be noticed.
My real musical career started as a dare for a company Christmas talent show. I dressed up as Elvis and sang "Blue Christmas" - and won ($250, baby)! I performed as Elvis again the next year, but the company band asked if they could back me up so they could have a better chance at winning so we performed "Hound Dog", "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Love Me Tender" - we won again!
Well, one of the guitar players in the band was getting married and his fiance loved Elvis so they asked if I would sing at his rehearsal dinner. That then led to the formation of The Unmentionables who are still performing to this day (not this exact one, but some day).
After years of playing other people's music (80s cover band with some other major cheese thrown in), the guys in the band found the beauty of GarageBand and started a monthly song writing competition based off of themes picked every month. Seeing this go on around me for about a year, I finally caved in and bought a Mac (our family main computer conveniently went down) and that's where I started jumping into the fray.
And that brings me to . . .
