| Hi, welcome to iCompositions. You've got some very interesting ideas going on in this tune. I like the dark instrumentation and the multi-layered voices. Lots of work went into this. I also like your message. Good stuff. Reaching. Looking. Finding. Yes, I like this. As a first production in GB, you've done an excellent job of it. I'll be watching your development as an interested fan. This is a strong start. Room for improvement in some production techniques, and that will come, though very creative and unique beginnings. There are many folks here who use GB that will help you if you ask. Our forums have lots of topics concerning GB, too. And just using it on-going will teach you through experience. GB is a very capable DAW. You are on your way! |

| Really nice use of the instruments and how they influence the mood. A very thoughtful piece. FYI - If you wrote what you are calling loops, then in the sense that iCompositions intends for the "Loop Use" choices, you should choose "No Loops". |

| There is a mixture of light n airy with an impending seriousness, perhaps doom. Quite ambivalent in meaning and feeling, which could be a great precursor to a following piece that would detail which way the "scene" is to go -- enlightened or entangled. | |

| Barbwire new by AdamStolterman | 2 months ago |
| The oldest tune that I have of yours dates back to 2006. I just listened to it after listening once to Barbwire. Yes, I can clearly hear how you've improved your delivery and recording/mixing techniques. Plus, after listening to your new EP only a few minutes ago, too, I can say that Barbwire sits in the current level of your wonderful production capabilities very well. This is a such a tender song. I love your shining voice and appreciate that you've placed a lead vocal above the harmony in this case. And the bits of affected guitar in the background is really interesting. Nice! So nice!!! | |
| Pit Of Ignominy by ZipZipper | 2 months ago |
| This is all the more intriguing because of the instrument used and it being recorded live with all the nuances that gives the sound. Fun. And, again, provides me with another example of your excellent abilities. I particularly like your bit of vocal additions. |

| Too Fast Too Far by AdamStolterman | 3 months ago |
| I love your ability to write songs true to yourself. You have an undeniable style which sets you apart from other songwriters, which is a good thing. Your musicianship is also always apparent. This song is right up there with some of my favorites of yours. I'm happy to hear you having portions of the song with only one track of your wonderful voice. While your harmonies are excellent, I also like to hear spaces of single vocal track, too. This creates dynamic contrast which enhances the flow of a tune. I would encourage you to explore increasing the use of single vocal track more. I'm not saying to stop your amazing (and trademark sound) harmonies. I'm saying, I'd love to hear more time given to a single voice. A "single voice" can include multiple tracks of the same melody sung the same, though with one take mixed louder than the rest of the takes. You are a super songwriter and performer. Come on, finish more tunes! I love your work. |

All the detailed wall of sound that I recognize as The LongLines sound, which I love, and the song is distinctly unique. You guys have a great "band" sound. | Nice songwriting. Performed well. New mic seems to be representing your voice very good. There are times when I'd like to hear either the guitar featured more as is or for another guitar part to be added with less effect on it, as in being a lead part. Overall though, a real nice song. |

| I like the overall concept and approach. Straight forward and with good thought. The high pitched chimes sit well at the front, as you have it. I'd like to hear more spacial feeling between the other instruments/sounds. For instance, perhaps a larger space for the bass pianoish sound that leads throughout. Spacial effects can be produced with various reverb settings, and stereo and/or sample delay. The Indian drum tone might benefit from having a medium space/room applied to it, in order to move it back a bit in the spacial feel of the instruments. I usually imagine a physical setting, a "room", that my composition is being "performed" in and try to place each sound/instrument in that space -- front, left side, center, right side, back, way back, omni, etc., by using differing kinds of reverbs and delays, as if the walls (sometimes no walls) are affecting the sound generated by that specific instrument. Welcome to iCompositions. The best place in the world! |

| Pineapples and Coconuts (final mix) by Audiogasm | 3 months ago |
| Nice. Sort of a cross between slack-key and traditional island sound. A good solid tune. I think I hear a bass line. ??? I'd like to hear the bass line higher in the mix and even featured briefly in an appropriate place. About 2/3 through, there is a lead guitar break with a lot of reverb and low volume. I think it would add interest and better texture to feature that guitar part with less reverb and much more up-front. Make a real feature of it. | |

| This seems to be a fairly involved song to be attempting. Good on y'all. How did you do, grade-wise? I'm hearing all the instruments well, except for the bass. The vocals are placed very well, as is the snare, both on top, as they should be. I'd like to hear the bass guitar pumped up some more and possibly a bit more punch on the kick. Probably with both the kick and the bass, some frequency adjustments will help pop them out of the mix better and also some volume increase on the bass. Has your instructor gone over frequency usages on differing instruments? (Not that I know a whole heck of a lot.) Second time through ... this is a lot of good rockin' n rollin'. |
