great voice, soulful song, well arranged and thought out.

I can imagine how it 'could' sound. that guitar solo i would leave away, it doesnt really compliment the song in my opinion. this needs an 80's style blistering lead guitar solo like Journey

good pop song

hi smiley

good music! i listened to last train, midwestern toen and this one.i would also suggest a clean vocal track. Imagine old bob dylan style or even Toad the Wet Sprocket. Give it to them straight, no effects..is always the better than too much effects. </ opinion >

thanks for the commens on my songs

thx for the nice commentsfellas - i really do appreciate it. I wasn't aware about someone else also posting this song recently, this is one that we play regulary and we recorded it for demo. honestly though, i listened to the RLV version and have to say that well while the guitar work sounds fine...the software drums do not do it for me...i am pretty happy to be fortuante enough to be working with a good drummer smiley

peace!

messin with the kid by blues69 2 years ago
the trio is bass guitar drums.

many thanks everybody. well its hard to guage how much bass to add in this mix. i listen to it in garageband and get the mix sounding balanced - then export to iTunes and all of a sudden there is way too much bass and not enough highs. seems like its getting seriously compressed. Any tricks when doing the automated mixdown in garageband? On my home stereo, the bass is there nicely. i guess it all depends on what its being played through. on my headphones it sounds totaaly different.

thanks I will keep trying!

Funk 33 by nodari 2 years ago
hi and welcome to iComp! i like the music overall, the funkyness.. cool . suggestion the guitar part is too much in front and the bass is too low, buried. i would personally bring the bass up a lot more, funk bass needs to be heard. the horns samples i could live without.

definatley got a gary moore thing in the beginning solo, then I hear some Albert King ala SRV style influence. TASTY! This is exactly my kind of stuff!can you elaborate on your guitar tone a bit? technical details- i would love to get similar tone results in garageband but so far I am not satisfied with my results. You have nailed it!

thanks! HooDoo: i made short 1 to 2 minute versions to send out as a demo CD to clubs to try to solicit live gigs for my blues trio. I think most people dont listen to the whole thing, so my idea was to give them a taste and not to waste. When i get enough original blues mateiral composed, I would like to do a full CD, with mastering and the works. Thats my goal ...this stuff is just baby steps along the journey smiley all the best john

Happy Acoustic by blues69 2 years ago
Its a J45-R (rosewood body). Thanks for the kind words. i was just messing around really, kind of a sound check test to see if i could get a decent acoustic sound- i borrowed a nice Rode K2 vaccum tube microphone from a friend of mine for the recording. I would love to have that mic, great all around studio mic for vocals, acoustic instruments.

Life Without Me(1997) by blues69 2 years ago
thanks for all the kind feedback folks smiley !@dudley - glad to hear you got your sound working now.the drums are a loop, i played the bass part on the keyboard and also the organ part and other little things like the bell that drones throughout the song, kinda of buried in there. i then overdubbed an acoutic guuitar for the regaae rythym hits and then played a strat for the guitar rhythym and then also for the lead. my old partner in crime Paul Honcharenko did the backing vocals and middle guitar licks, i did the first and last solos.PeaceJOhn
