Thanks for doing this Mannix. I really appreciate everything you do with my poetry/spoken word. This poem was written after a close friend of mine's father died of Alzheimer's. He was a doctor and one of the sweetest people I've ever known. Very kind man. Shortly after he died, I saw a painting at the National Gallery of Art in DC, called "The Beach at Villerville" and the man in the painting resembled his dad. I used to see him everywhere. You know, someone who reminded me of him...so that's where this came from. Thanks!
No Wonder by chinaman 3 months ago
It's sad in that sometimes the pains we endure make it sometimes hard for us to let happiness in later on...or to accept the possibility. The person who 'inspired' my poem is actually extremely successful and accomplished in his field. It's just not the arts smiley

Thanks for doing this M smiley I always enjoy what you do with my words smiley

Thank you so much to all of you. I really appreciate the comments about my poetry especially. And of course if it weren't for Andreas you probably wouldn't be able to hear it in the first place smiley

No you didn't ruin it. I'm not upset. I think it's a weird coincidence I'd see it posted on the anniversary of the day I wrote it. It's fine. It's a kind of nice kismet, if that's even the right word. Comforting, maybe. Thanks!

I just happened across this. I like her voice. This is really nice smiley I forgot you asked me about that poem. It's funny too, because I just realized that the poem you used of mine here, was written on this date last year, exactly.

Rehearsal by brendajean 10 months ago
Thank you for all your kind comments. I really appreciate it. We were only rehearsing for holiday pops music in December, but currently we are rehearsing for recordings of some Randol Alan Bass music ("Concordia", "Gloria", "Passage Into Spirit"--commissioned by us), followed by Verdi's "Requiem" (to be performed as part of the "Defiant Requiem"--Google if not familiar with this one) and then John Adams "Harmonium." So we are pretty busy this season (Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus- http://bpchorus.org/home.asp ). Actually, we toured in Germany (Berlin) last July, but I was away for that so did not get to participate smiley Thanks again!

I really love the background music here that you've created. It feels right, like you said, but I can't say exactly why. I really really appreciate you taking my poems and doing this with them--it's funny but most of the poems you've picked, are about the same person, or inspired by that person. I'm glad you have appreciated them because the person they were written for has never really said if he did. Ah well. This makes me happy to hear them like this smiley Thank you!

The poem(s) (there are actually three strung together) is about seeing the innocence in an adult. Seeing that adult as they once were, and still are--innocent. We all are.

This was particularly time-consuming. If I'd have practiced the harmonies ahead of time it would have been quicker. But I like the final product. We'll do this again. Thank you very much. Really, the mixing Armin did made it all come together.
I'll Fly Away by brendajean 1 year ago
Thank you so much everyone. Armin was singing along and I asked him to sing with it. He didn't seem to want to, but I really like the combination.

Thanks MB. I am not that good of a musician (guitar-wise--clarinet is a different story) really to play with others, so that's true what you said about 'doing my own thing.' We recorded it with a microphone, no pick up--though I have a built in one, but it doesn't work so well. I'm thinking it was my pick or my finger hitting the sound board or something. We'll try again. Thanks again smiley
