This is one of my favorite songs of all time also Jim so it was quite easy to get into and enjoy. Good Job as usual! You are one of those who post online who are a true musician!

Very nice playing! Flows nicely without trying to overwhelm the listener. Hear little bits of make me a pallet, maybe Mississippi John Hurt influence?

Wonderful operatic production. Great full sound! Nice song construction also.

Thanks Mr. B! Probably I should have posted under blues rather than country. When people hear the word country they think about what is popular now and that crap turns my stomach too.

I remember those days too. Very nice song and great playing!

Good choice of a great classic song. Wonderful piano playing! May your type of music always be played for others to hear.

I really like your voice. I thought the keyboard (synth?) was a little overpowering in the mix. The song itself is terriffic. Lyrics are great and the melody is very nice. I would like to hear a simpler version with perhaps just acoustic piano and your voice? That way what I see as the strengths here, your voice and lyrics, would stand out more. Nice job. Thanks for posting!

Very cool, funky blues, the kind I like! The lead vocal reminded me of Joe Walsh. The little harmony touches were also well done. Just the whole thing worked very well with no one trying to dominate but just letting the song roll along like it should.

A very powerful song the first time I heard it and your version does it justice very nicely. I love these lesser known early songs of Bob's. Your updating of the tune to a more modern sound comes off quite well.

It's no secret that this is a cool song. Nice backing track and good delivery of lyrics that go to the heart of it all.

Very nice guitar picking. Your voice is also quite expressive and certainly good enough that you shouldn't apologize for it. Most of the singers I like aren't technically great but they all have a quality to the tone of their voice that I like. You have that also.

Great Job! One of my favorite songs. Good to hear the younger generation appreciate good music. On your performance, the pitch is a little off in some places but not bad at all. For ten years old it is a fantastic job of singing!

Thanks Pharmakeus,

I agree about the covers thing. If you do a cover and it sounds exactly like the original then what's the point? You might as well just play the CD. I have been blessed in that regard I suppose because I don't really sound like too many other people. And my guitar playing has been mostly a self taught thing also so it usually sounds fairly individualistic also. Glad you enjoyed this version.
Follow You Down by bronco 1 year ago
Thanks Xolov! Bob's first album was almost all covers. I think there might have been one or two originals. He was very much following his influences then, Woody Guthrie and several country bluesmen.

I really like the song and your singing. The piano tone seemed off at first but that went away. You are too sophisticated and polished a musician to be what I think of as country although I am out of touch I am sure. To me this would be pop or soft rock but whatever you call it, it is good! Great job!

Your previous song reminded me of a nice little jazz bar with subdued lighting and plants all around. This one is in a bigger venue with spilled beer and sawdust on the floor. A rougher clientel but still there to groove to the music and forget about all else. Great job!!

Nice job. World weary vocal! Nice slurring on the midi guitar also. This is one that is on my list to do soon. It will be in my down home folk style of course so it won't compete with yours.

Spent hundreds of hours listening to the Doors. Jim was fantastic but the rest were way underrated. Probably my all time favorite rock band. Combined two of my favorite things - blues and poetry! Nice job there Barretok!

No Falling Stars (kinder/gentler) by moptzar 3 years ago
Well I liked this version better. Hate to be picky but I would have left off the storm effects after the first couple of bars. Just my opinion which is no better than anyone elses. The guitar sound is fine now but it still overpowers the vocals in places. Your strong point is your voice and lyrics. Make your vocal the dominant part of the song and let the rest be background.

I really liked the song and your voice but the electric guitar was just horribly distorted and ruined it for me.

Well written song with intelligent thought out lyrics. I don't know if it is intentional or not but for my taste your voice was too emotional throughout the song. I prefer it if the emotion comes in to emphasize parts of the song, usually the chorus. Of course, some people tell me I don't sing with enough emotion so there you go.
