Biography
Dave Damato began playing guitar when he was very young, starting at age sixteen, in the basement of his grandparent’s fashion wear shop in Dave's hometown of Giussano (north Italy). After he found a Ludwig drum belonging to his grandfather he also began to teach himself the art of drumming and remains almost exclusively self-taught on both guitar and drums. Although he was a beginner both as a guitar player and as a drummer, he wanted to start a punk-rock band with his friends. After gaining experience during his secondary school years, some friends of Dave asked if he would join their AC/DC tribute band as lead guitarist. This brief experience was fundamental in helping Dave perfect his catchy and captivating rock and roll style when playing guitar, and helped him further hone his musical skills. In the following years, during his time at university, he switched back to being a drummer, this time in a pop band, Dear, with whom he wrote an EP characterized by an eclectic mix of pop and rock music. Four years later, Dear split up. At this point the real adventure began. Dave Damato decided to pursue the next stage of his musical career by learning to play the bass guitar and he also started his own audio recording business. Now, in addition to writing and composing for instruments as varied as guitar, keyboard, percussion, drums and bass guitar, he also began to contribute his own vocals, which was something new for him. His music met with great success, and he began to garner increasing interest on websites such as MySpace and Garage Band. He won the “Song of the Week” on TripDiary and The Stars, song of the day and song of the week , and also many awards like best fell good track with Jimmy and you have. The two songs featured on these websites will be included on his forthcoming debut album After Breakfast which he is currently working on in his studio. The mood of this record, as its name suggests, is breezy and uplifting, perfect for any time of the day. It is a very intimate record, characterized by a mix of funk, pop, rock and acoustic music. After Breakfast is scheduled to be released in March 2010. Included will be original material from Dave's first, unreleased EP and a selection of his newest material
