This is just as fantastic 10 days later. In addition to all of the above, i must say that i really appreciate the backing vox. It's simply perfect from top to bottom. i could listen to this repeatedly without getting sick of it (ok, so, maybe i already have...)
The student by vibegeist 4 years ago
It's strange but i can relate to this on at least a couple of different levels. Appreciate the simple melody, accentuates the lonely feeling.

i hope you come back, someday... i miss you smiley
mimo chmur by MonikaEvans 4 years ago
Lovely as always, Monika. i don't know how else to say this, but i really like the intimate vox you've used for the verses. Nicely layered, too.

Very nice to hear from you again! smiley

Heard on Criminally Overlooked podcast. Can't say any more than the above, so i have to settle for stars. "What they said!"
Language of milk by vibegeist 4 years ago
i differ with Neumuzik, in that i'd keep the guitar. however, those spots are a bit 2 dimensional, especially in contrast to the synths. Probably layer things a little more.

Nevertheless i think this song is fantastic. miss you vibegeist, where are you? smiley

This is simply fabulous. All stars for you! i love it!

There are a couple of spots where i wished for a light gate on the snare. Feel free to ignore me. smiley

You have a heavenly, clear voice that reminds me of Leigh Nash. Beautiful song.

Heard on iCompositions Radio... an instant favorite!
CUT (Imperialist cut) by nothing 4 years ago
Nicely done, mr. nothing!

The "loop, or no loop?" question comes up pretty frequently in my mind. i don't know the answer. i think i would tend towards not calling self-played bits loops, in most situations.
Thinking song by lilichi 4 years ago
.thinking.

i like the raw vox, which combined with the lyrics invoke powerful feelings.

By the way, the lyrics are a work of art in form as well as in meaning. (They literally form a picture, to my eye at least.) i think that is perhaps the most striking thing about this piece, in fact.

PS - love the photo too, nice use of color and saturation.

if there is anything that merits constructive criticism in this song, i'm hard pressed to find it. a fine composition and performance all around.

i very much like the sound and the feel of this. it is a bit reminiscent of Kraftwerk (mmm Kraftwerk!). There is a part where the lead synth changes phase (for lack of a better term) at about 1m 23s that i couldn't get my head around, though.

This is so naughty, but so so good. i've been waiting for an upload of this for a long time, just to make it a fave.

Nice squelched kit you've got going there -- that cleaned up nicely! Love the tone of that acoustic guitar, too. And oh, oh... oh... what a gorgeous sample of lilivox. smiley

Port Authority [band] by Bob6stringer 4 years ago
Excellent tune, all around! This is a keeper.

By the way, i'd like to suggest that you add an alternate genre of "blues" on this. Whether that was the original intent, it's hard to say, but this tune has a strong blues rock flavor.
Out in the Cold(studio) by GhostRiders3 4 years ago
Great lyrics, and an interesting atmosphere you've created here!

The hard pans on guitars and vox make this a bit mind-bending when listened to on headphones. It's hard to hear the vox because of this, to be honest. (If this is intentional, please take it as an admission of my shortcoming as a listener to recognize that fact.)

whoa.

minor quibble: the end cuts of pretty abruptly with a bit of a click, but that pales in comparison to what you've pulled off here.

very unusual overall, but this has a great rhythm and a surprise around every corner.

it seems ever-so-slightly chopped at the end, perhaps unintentionally? but this is not a major problem, and perhaps not noticeable at standard listening volumes.

(now, has anybody seen the beaten path? i can't find my way back to it...)

Intimidate by Leahbanicki 4 years ago
i agree with jdwyer05 on the vox. This isn't the kind of tune that really requires everything you have to give. However, you've turned in a smoldering performance, regardless. Wow! This is one part of a lovely intensity you've given to this tune, along with a rich, nicely balanced production.

A quibble: i'm not so much a fan of the some of the "cultural" sounds. Perhaps it's because i feel that they're a bit up in my face. The rhythms work, though, so i can't really say they're out of place.

Thanks for sharing!

Fugue in G minor by deep 4 years ago
Oh dear, it seems i was not clear enough by indicating where the MIDI came from. i am not nearly patient enough to play through this (and then fix all of my mistakes)! No, i am merely a producer here, fiddling with instrumentation, levels, pans, and effects.

Thank you all for your kind words, regardless... i hope it brightened your day a little. smiley

frenzied! you've got a really solid kick drum backing it up after that first break... once that entered the scene i was hooked.

tip for you on the end of the track: throw in a track with a software instrument. any instrument will do. record a note or two, just something silly, then delete all of the notes and leave yourself an empty region. position at the end, size to taste, and voilà: the fx can resolve themselves without feeling chopped off!

not a song, but certainly a big, in your face wall of percussive sound! the unexpected twists and turns call to mind the wonderment of looking at an abstract painting for the first time... one is never really quite sure what to make of what one sees, or in this case, hears.

[hmm, lost the word "abstract". i blame lack of sleep. fixed.]
A baroque symphony? by ciheins 4 years ago
There's overlapping notes on the same instrument in different parts... this distracts me. I'm finding it a little difficult to focus on the melody.

Incidentally, when i think of baroque, one of the first things i think of is harpsichord, and i can't help but wonder if there should be one here.
