Biography
Hey all;
It would appear i have stumbled onto a very cool site quite by accident..nice to have an all musician artist site to talk to other tortured, angst ridden people like myself...well i am not like that all the time, just when i am working on my cd...I have been in this business for over 20 years in various guises but usually as a road musician, studio player, engineer, producer, etc. i would love to work for a film company as a film soundtrack artist..but its been hard finding even internships here in Mass. where i live (western mass by smith college) that is really my dream of all dreams..until i can make that happen i keep writing and recording in my little state of the art studio here in my big new england 100 year old house..which btw its freezing here right now...anyway..i am trying to put a little business together and any advice of anykind would be most appreciated! i work on a mac and use DP5 as my recording software and really love it..to be able to download a movie and score to it precisely is amazing..who would have thought when i was touring the world in the big hair 80's that this would be possible??? not me...anyway, i am trying to focus on what my business should handle...due to space issues recording live drums is impossible plus not enough mics..so i am thinking of trying to lure non musical people to let me write an original soundtrack to their home movies or what not...any imput guys would be really appreciated..any thoughts..ideas whatever...or even better if someone has a line ON A FILMSCORING INTERNSHIP/GIG PLEASE CONTACT ME IT CAN BE ANYWHERE EVEN EUROPE!!!! i will go anywhere it takes. The guitar is my main instrument and i play a bad *** electric guitar...balls to the wall..but also write in other genres such as medieval, baroque, etc. I spent the 90's at IVY league colleges to learn how to write music (am self taught off records..boy giving away my age!..beatle records at that! but when i was a little girl thats what my older brother had so i have a deep love for that group and most all 60's bands..anyway) to communicate with other musicians so i got a BA in music comp/theroy and a MM in computer music comp and film scoring..HA alot of good that did me and 150,000$ later i still cant get a gig scoring film..so anyway i am really grateful for this site and the folks on it..am really interested in DOD's new drum software "my co-writer" supposedly has a complete drum track with a bass line on it that you can toss or keep but i hate drum loops with a passion so if anyone know anything about this software or anyother drum software that has complete tracks with fills, etc. in it please let me know i am interested in exploring that as an option to get my recording time a little faster..the time i spend on loops is sooo stupid or i am stupid cant figure that one out yet!! Have met some nice people already kudos to becwil for her help getting me started and other who have greeted me with open arms..this is going to be cool...oh, right, my name is
D'arcy Ward de Orleans (pronounced ala francais) and it is my real name or better or worse! now i will try to figure out how to download some music or your listening (dis) pleasure
PLEASE NOTE;1. I HAVE DYSLEXIA SO MY SPELLING ON RETURNED MESSAGES OR BLOGS MAYBE A LITTLE SHAKEY BUT YOU WILL GET THE JIST OF WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY..HOPEFULLY 2. ON THE COMPOSITIONS (EXCEPT FOR CHORAL AND FILM TRAILORS ALL ON DP5)I HAVE UPLOADED WERE ALL DONE ON A CHEESY LITTLE TASCAM 4 TRACK..ALL OF THEM..UNTIL I GOT MY DP5 STUFF LAST YEAR..THERE IS JUST MISINFORMATION ON SOME OF THE SONGS I SPOTTED AND WANTED TO CORRECT THAT...YOU GET REALLY GOOD AT BOUNCING AND MIXING USING A 4 TRACK BELIEVE ME!!!!!! THANKS...
