I Can't Wait to Meetcha Boy (When You Become a Man) by mfwmiles 2 months ago

I love this.

Just guitar ! !

Simple lyric - I love it - not too sugary - really cool. I wish I'd done this for my lads - perhaps its never too late - even if they're 18 and 20.

Bit of a counterpoint to 'listen to the rhythm of the pouring rain' should precede it on the CD!

I like the dark towards the end - specially the kettle drums which are a bit of a miles signature.

Good to hear you back in saddle so to speak - was this put together in the 'new studio number 1'?

Hey its almost the season of goodwill - I'm tempted to put my 'rhythm of the pouring rain' and 'Jackie R' up - would you be terribly upset?

As my marks suggest - I think this is excellent.

Sparse, textured, haunting, Brian Wilson styleee percusive 'bonks' most deff needed - wonderful.

You must be sick of me saying this but you must have been one of the Beach Boys and this track a lost song from their 1977 lp 'love you' (go buy beg or steal a copy) - brilliant quirky childish pop!

A wonderful coda - you sweet monkey!!!

Reminded me of the excellent David Bowie Live album 'stage'. Magnificent lead guitar in the style of Adrian Belew.

Good stuff.

Stevie Nicks meets Peter Green. Say goodbye to 20 years of post 'Green' Fleetwood Mac and say hello to what could have been!

Well done guys.

Fade to Black by EvilFactman 1 year ago
Very dark.

I do like the simplicity - takes courage to to steer away from verse chorus verse chorus.

The fade to black works well.

Think stage, hushed theatre, spotlight, spotlight beam narrows, narrows, narrows then fades to black - make the video!
You Save Me (duet w Petra) by Dylan 1 year ago

love the:

harp
percussion
guitars
vox blend
the vox mix (dylan background) half way through
the production

Old Sparky - Dick Philpot by dickphilpot 1 year ago
Your wish is.......

Old Sparky (2005 and Sept 2006)

Old sparky was left to lie
Its left to rust and left to die
Like the boys with golden hair
who were murdered on the stairs
Murdered in the grass
Murdered in the dark

Old sparky left to lie
Its left to rust and left to die
Like the girls with golden breasts
who were murdered in their beds
Murdered in the grass
Murdered in the dark

The giants left to sleep
while the Mothers and Fathers weep
The giant sleeps oh how we need him
Like a baby how we cry
Strange beliefs will never leave me
Tooth for a tooth eye for an eye
The giant sleeps oh how we need him
like a baby how we cry

I am ashamed, I am ashamed
I am scared and afraid
I couldnt throw the switch
See the body twitch
See the it jump and jive
See the eyes burning live

I am ashamed, I am ashamed
As I stand before the grave
Of the boy with golden hair
And the girl with golden breasts.
Take a walk with me - Dick Philpot by dickphilpot 1 year ago
Pete and Strawbfan

Thanks I think I agree about both harp and vox - but as indicated by Pete - remixing is a pain and will just end up with mandolin and harp fighting it out over the desk and we just can't have that!

Cheers guys.

Misery by mfwmiles 1 year ago
Old song it may be but a 'bright' and 'real' sound to most of the instrumentation. Not sure about the 'horns'they are in the right place but..... We ought have a word with Billy and get Will Tipper of the Faiths on board! Also why Ska, Reggie and Dud? This is good pop! Be brazen and show all those girl and boy bands how it ought be done!

Enough from me - another bud beckons.

Cheers man.

Spookily Norwegianish feel if you know what I mean.
Like the production.
The doubled vocal two thirds in is a great touch.
Good one.

Hi Mr Cousins!

Nice to hear some proper folk amongst all of us modern revisionists.

Good delivery - good shaker. I really like the second guitar coming in late on. Keep up the good work.

Oh hail the Highwayman.

Hey Mr Man with a famous name!

Good song and performance. I like the guitar - it recorded really nicely. If you had yourself a girl singing over the 'catch me when I fall' section it would be just oh so sweet. Good work.

A good Maria Mckee sort of thing going on and damn that bar reminds me of the Byrds/Sweetheart of the Rodeo and Hickory Wind. Done 'right lovely' in a real bar with real people. Good work.

Hey a sort of Dennis Wilson sitting at the piano song without the raspy voice. Really good vibe.

This is really good. The cars are great - I'll have to try 'my trains' on their way to the city. I love the mandolin mixed nicely in the background. Cool mellow stuuf. Great work.

This is absolutely excellent. The vocal arrangement it stunning the words from each voice working both independently and as a single stream. I love the loops they give the number a contemporary edge. Production also a wow.

Great number.
