| Carla, thank you for taking Ember for this first spin... I agree with RavingRedHead that this has scat-flashbacks to Pink Floyd's amazing Great Gig in the Sky, as well as a touch of Native American chanting... very cool! You hinted that this will not be your last take on it, so I eagerly look forward to more from you. Enjoy! ttfn, Drakonis |

| What a wonderful singing voice you have... strong, with a wisp of breathiness, perfect for this genre of folk song. Nice backing guitar work as well... that microphone picked things up clearly. Although I do like the sparseness of this, it does feel like just a hint of cello would add some missing low-end. Excellent first song, so good to hear your great singing voice. -love the cat |

| Miskatonic U Quartet by padowan_learner | 1 year ago |
Exquisite silliness! But with a professional edge... very nice SATB writing, captured the "College" style quartet feel... and your singing is pretty darned good, so don't knock it! I'm glad you had the audacity to try pitch-shifting! I'm not sure why Miskatonic is so dominant though. ![]() ttfn, Drakonis |

Kassia's piano piece is gorgeous, delicate and sweeping. Your singing complements it quite well, excellent lyric writing and singing and harmonies, melts over the piano like butter on warm bread... oops, I'll get a towel and wipe up that messy analogy, sorry Kassia! ![]() ttfn, Drakonis |

| The Bronze Age Rat by padowan_learner | 1 year ago |
Very nicely crafted, I like this! I particularly like the choice of instrumentation. It does have a really primitive and exotic feel, especially with the drums and chorus. So now it is time to critique The very first bar, I count 4 drum beats in succession, but all following measures have 5? Is that first bar cut short, or did you do that intentionally to trip up the Roman marchers? The melody played by the english horn, and later doubled with violin is gorgeous, but very fast-paced and very 1700s... as if you were going for baroque. It made it sound more game soundtrack-ish, but given the audience, perhaps a good thing. I actually loved it, by the way. In fact, it would be cool to have a real violinist play that part! Last critique... the cellist had too much coffee, and was panning back and forth in my headphones... he should probably sit still for the performance. I hope the performance went/goes well! Off to discover more of your gems!ttfn, Drakonis |

| Ember (kassia-fied) by kassia | 1 year ago |
| This really heads Ember off in a new (age) direction, and very sweetly handled! You passed the test, and managed to avoid your KSA (Kitchen Sink Affliction) wonderfully here (smirk)... it is delicately sparse, but you have added new harmonies that tug at the sound bed in gently new sparkly ways. I think the english horn is a brilliant touch. And your piano improvs are great. Elegant. Excellent mixing too, all is crystal clear as a sunrise. Instant download to add to my KassiaKollection. ttfn, Drakonis |

| Funny Honey Bunny (Jessica's Lament) by padowan_learner | 1 year ago |
| Delightful bit of jazzy torch-osity, well-written, and very nicely sung... you've got a very agile voice to pull off what you required yourself to sing, and you did so nicely! And the lyrics are excellent, a perfect nod to the original, framing him so well, but punning up a storm of your own originality. Ahhh, another HA user, excellent! We're a rare breed. | |

Eek! late to the party! I just today noticed mention of these films on your artist page and had to run over and see them. Nice music, flowing between gentle and powerful... and great to see the choreographer's interpretation... and absolutely wonderful to have all this come together for a live performance for you! Now THAT has got to be the icing on the cake! Next time you're gonna have something of yours performed live, for goodness sakes e-mail me! I'm just down the street and would love to make time to go see your music performed. Who did the video editing? The "ghosting" shots were cute, and not overdone. Was that edited by the college students there?ttfn, Drakonis |

| Hi Scotty and Scott! Thank you both for dropping in to listen and relax at the beach with us! I used my really sweet Canon GL-2 video camera, then pulled the video into iMovie 2 and edited it like crazy. I don't have too much time for these hobbies, so I have to be productive when I get to work on things. You know, being a husband, dad, going to work... important things take precedence! |

| Little Wing (for Mungo) by ziti | 2 years ago |
| Great playing from a great guy, dedicated to another very talented artist, wishing Mungo well, wherever he may be. The mix sounds ever so slightly muffled, I would have preferred a little more sparkle mixed with that rich bass sound, but your playing is a delight, as always. ttfn, Drakonis |

| Joanna, thanks for stopping in and taking in the last rays of the day with us! Jack, my wife put up with me shooting this video on that particular evening, then editing the heck out of it for weeks afterward. Hope your evening at the beach was wonderful! Alannah, glad to shoot some rays of sunshine up your way for escape-time. Thank you for commenting! Richard, you are a kind soul, and I appreciate you taking some time to come enjoy the collaborative fruits of our labor here. Bowman! Good to see you (again)... and I'm glad to get some constructive critique on my amateur video techniques. I generally try to avoid too many silly transitions, I am usually a cross-dissolve junkie, so I appreciate the suggestion of simplifying the transitions even more, thanks! Patricks piece here seemed to fit the beach scenes so well, I had to share. ttfn, Drakonis |

| Walter - I appreciate you stretching out at the beach with us and enjoying the mood. If you ever get out this way, I'll play some volleyball with you! Kristine - The weather's been nasty all over, even raining here! In Southern California... you know, where it "never rains"! I thought about fading in some of the seagull cries and waves, but I really loved just listening to Patrick's music, and didn't want to muddy it up, so I silenced my audio. I agree a little might be OK. Bill - Wow, this sounds like how I react every time I listen to one of your tunes! You effervesce with enthusiasm! Patrick *has* made money doing that music for videos. Me... well, I need a better smooth-panning tripod! But I've always loved that beach, it really is a fun relaxing place to go... I grew up body surfing there. Roxylee - I know you have always wanted to live near a nice warm beach. This is the best I can do for you for now... now you can "drift" off to the beach any time you want ![]() ttfn, Drakonis |

![]() Funny, we've been "there" many times... one of our favorites is the backpacking hike in the pine trees to Round Valley at the top of Mt. San Jacinto above Palm Springs, CA. There's a very strong pull to that mountain for us, and a long "final moment" before we have to return... so I know the feeling exactly. Interestingly, the background to this music reminds me in some ways to my wife's favorite jazz guitarist, Peter White. But your instrumentation is much richer, with pianos, strings, great percussion, bass, electric guitars, synths, oboe (or sax?), ... it just flows on and on, the way you want the final moment to. I like the way you have the theme show up throughout, gently handed to different groups of instruments to keep it fresh, slowly building to the end. Ooh, nice ending you added! I like the bluesy piano bit, melting into a final wash, bravo. Production quality is perfect, everything was well balanced and clear. Your stuff is usually very smooth and dreamy, upbeat and cleansing. I am in awe of your abilities... you manage to do some really complex things and make them seem easy. thank you for sharing them with us here! I will play this for my wife and see what she thinks. ttfn, Drakonis PS - Thank you for permitting me to convert this into a music video... hope others enjoy our collaboration of your music and my video: http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=51782# |

| NO SURRENDER ! by MayBeHorizon | 3 years ago |
| Great rolling chords, heavy inertia in the percussion... I like the effected vocals, then the "Waters"-like singing in the chorus. This does have sort of an 80's feel, with a gothic twist. Good solid music! Great job, you two! ttfn, Drakonis |

| Enjoyable music, sparse and pretty, and very nice photos... wow, it looks like Northern Utah has places just as beautiful as Southern Utah! Next time we head out that way, we may need to skip Zion/Brianhead, and head up your way! And I'll definitely bring my camera. My only suggestion would be to remove some of the back-to-back-almost-duplicate pictures, and then slow down the zoom on some of them, they were very pretty and some went by quickly. ttfn, Drakonis |

| Lickety Split (Rag) by drakonis | 3 years ago |
| Thank you all, for listening and enjoying this music! Enkibumbu, I've not played much with the synthesized singing module in HA, but it is very good, and they have tools to allow you to record your own voice as phonemes and it will then have YOU singing anything. I think you'll enjoy it, after you get past the complicated interface. ttfn, Drakonis |

| Fireflies by MissChaos | 4 years ago |
![]() She's a firefly, but she's still MissChaos. I still hear a great deal of your earlier style here, which is a good thing. But I also hear you trying some new _things, which are very nice... hey, how do you like those nice rich JP4 strings? MissChaos on JP4, yummy! I'm a nut for rich bass, and you have some very strong rich bass sounds in there that create an interesting atmosphere. Your orchestration is very crisp, the instruments and sounds are well-delineated, which I like... not muddy. I like the weird spot in your music where the firefly smacks into a plant and shakes herself and has to change key and start over. Overall, it is sort of cotton-candy-ish, not a real strong melody per se, but more of a feeling imparted, I hear the buzzing wings, I see colors flowing by... that's what the good-old MC-piano-arpeggios and this new style orchestration impart. Overall, this is slightly more upbeat and fun than your others, not emotionally heart-wrenching, but still very enjoyable to listen to. It almost sounds like a sketch for something greater, maybe because I'd like to hear more Sigh, another fave & download! |

| Surfing Embers (Woodguy Remix) by drakonis | 4 years ago |
| Hey Woodguy, This Ember smokes! When I first heard what you sent me I was overjoyed... its this kind of creativity and heavy personalizing that I have enjoyed with each unique direction it goes. Your remix here is not only so delightfully and uniquely *you*-sounding, but its also a danged good piece of music to listen to. Thank you for taking Ember out for a spin, I really like what you've done with this piece I think we may have to do this again sometime...ttfn, Drakonis |

![]() This is one of my favorites of your repertoire (or, with your wit, should it be RapiereToire? And what *is* a dragon doing in your repertiore anyway?) Ahem, anyway, of course I love your singing, love the orchestration, and really love all the horrible cliches strung together as if they just belonged together... this shows off your incredibly versatile talents so nicely. ttfn, Drakonis |

![]() Master + Master = Monster! This is a slowly building Tsunami of music. Ziti, your ability to make breathtaking music just flow from your guitar is astounding, and Togawa Tadashi-san's ability to craft such powerful music with drums and synths is wonderful. Jo-zu Desu. This would be a great one to put on your SECOND CD, Fran... hint hint. Your first CD of amazing music is still high on my play list, BTW. Again, great job you two!ttfn, Drakonis |

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the delightful comment on my music! And yes, I've been here a while just not able to write music as fast as some other talented musicians here And notice that we ALL have "Duh" moments, Woo(Duh)Guy, D(uh)rakonis, luckily the "Duh" is usually silent in our lives. Anyway, I'll be around a bit more this year I hope!ttfn, Drakonis |

| 1645 Waltz by kristyjo | 4 years ago |
| Hi Kristyjo, Very nice composition, as always. But mostly, I want to answer your question: Here's what I found out about loops (by experimentation.) To create your own loops to share with others: 1-create the loop in GarageBand 2, by selecting the hand-rolled loop and choosing "Add to Loop Library" under the Edit menu; 2-Name the loop, choose genres, etc., and it will be saved in your loop library; 3-go find it... it will be in your home/user folder under Library:Audio:Apple Loops:User Loops: Single Files:, they will be AIFF files; 4-Option-drag the loops out of there into a separate folder for sending to other people (option-drag will make a copy of the files, not move them.) 5-Somebody who gets this/these loops, can simply drop them onto their loop-browser in GB 2 and it will add them to their library for use. Whew! Hope that terse explanation helps you and others... maybe this should be a tutorial? Thanks for asking the question!ttfn, Drakonis |

| Mama Cries by MissChaos | 4 years ago |
![]() Hey, this sounds like a major update to one of my favorite tunes of yours! All my past critiques of this no longer apply, it's almost perfect! You've softened the high-pitched click-like percussion, and the introductory high-pitched synth is much sweeter sounding. The only minor wish is if the synth-strings would sound slightly less synthy. Now for the subjective part, which still holds in this new version. I found the melodies/harmonies deeply moving, and listening to this made me want to run over and hug my kids and tell them to hang in there, that the world will soon spin some sunshine into our lives again. I'm not sure if this is quite the message you were trying to convey, but that is how this song spoke to me. Downloaded (again!) and added to my MissChaos iTunes playlist. You have an ITMS album coming out? I couldn't find it today on iTunes, but I'll get in line to buy it! Congratulations! ttfn, Drakonis |

| Lickety Split (Rag) by drakonis | 4 years ago |
OffBalance - Yes, I'm just A minor composer I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed it, thank you for commenting!Baboon - I originally had a drum track behind it and some clarinet countermelody, but it was too busy, so I redid it and reduced it to just piano here, which made it sound better I think. Calliope? OMG, that is very funny and intriguing... I just tried switching instruments to a "puff organ" (don't have a calliope sampled), and it sounds very good, it becomes merry-go-round music. Hmm... should I post that here too for fun? ttfn, Drakonis |

| Ember and Cherry Blossom by Mystified | 4 years ago |
| Thank you (Arigatou!) Mysti, for putting a slightly Japanese spin on Ember, and your choice of the poem Sakura was perfect at that point, funny how things just work out like that! And as always, your ethereal singing was mesmerizing, and your reading of my poem gave it life... definitely a beautiful completion of Ember. Very well put together, the balancing between the singing and poetry seemed perfect. Brava! ttfn, Drakonis |
