Thanks Pharmakeus -

Bruce is one of my heroes. Never thought I'd hear me and him in the same sentence! You made my day!
Lillian (redux) by dunnieboy 5 years ago
Thanks a lot Pharmakeus! George is an incredibly talented guy - I'll pass along the kind words!

Thanks, Mitzel! This song has changed a lot since it was first written nearly a year ago! Appreciate the kind words!
Lillian (redux) by dunnieboy 5 years ago
Thanks for the kind words, Mitzel! I never thought about the Tom Petty thing... but maybe you're right. At least NOW it sounds like that to me!

Thanks a lot Jeremity - yeah, I think we might throw some sad guitar in there, a beat, and maybe that's all. I'm not used to writing downers, but I like this one...

Yeah.. I know... "Dunnie" was my Dad's nickname growing up in Boston (our last name is Donovan). I doubt very much I would use that name in Aussieland, though!

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

Elmira is such a sad town for me... it used to be a bustling, thriving small city until various manufacturers left... now the main industry is the prison on the hill, which is next to the Civil War-Era cemetary, in which Mark Twain is buried.

It's hard to see a town dying. Hopefully it can make its way back.

Thanks a lot guys! I haven't been on in a while - it's nice to hear from y'all!

We have indeed played this song live, several times. I played it for some of the class on the last day of school. Several kids recognized their excuses... some of them, in fact, took a great deal of pride in it!

Thanks for the kind words!

This song is terrific, John. I see the Steve Goodman thing in here referenced earlier. It's so nice to hear totally raw, "real" music - something about a guy (or woman) and a guitar that conjures up memories of sitting on the grass listening to folks trade songs. The lyrics, well, what hasn't been said? Totally relateable. Love it, downloading it - in fact, I'm gonna listen again right now!

Cheers!

It was indeed a blast to record - Every time a kid makes a terrible excuse for not doing something, I file it away... Thanks for the kind words, ddball and Ignoramus - this stuff is so much fun!

Thanks a lot Dylan! Jojo is one mf my heroes! It's weird that you mention the Ray Wylie song - I have been singing it constantly to myself over the last week - and have mentioned it to Armin as well! We'll see how things go!

Man this is wonderful - I am relatively new to iComp (and, for that matter, recording in general) - You guys are just terrific. Dylan - your sound is infectious as ever, and Rhonie's voice continues to blow me away! Great, great stuff (but I am behind the curve here after reading all the other comments)!

Love this tune - I am definitely downloading this one - your voice has an earnestness to it that I wish I could find in mine. This is really terrific!

Thanks a lot XTN and Rhonie! Yes, the guitar is a Strat. It's really gratifying to havfe such a receptive group of people to share this stuff with. I haven't had this much fun in years!

Thanks a lot guys! Ddball, I guess Willie was busy lol. Thanks for the nice comments.

Offbalance - Jonathan is truly an original - members of The Modern Lovers went on to such bands as The Cars and The Talking Heads - through it all, Jonathan has remained true to himself - check him out, you will not be disappointed! As for the comment, thanks for the encouragement - the guitar sound is all Armin - I am sure he has already read this! Seriously, thanks!

Thanks so much, guys! It was soooo much fun to do - I play this song pretty much every time I have a guitar with me - for the past 15 or so years!

Nice job, John! The cliches fly, but the song is so catchy and well done that they don't seem to be cliches! Love the lawyers line! Well done!

Sounds great, John! I really like the guitar work here. I really like the way your voice sounds on this one. The whole mystical, almost ethereal feel reminds me of that middle-of-the night sort of quiet, surreal sensation one gets when walking nearly empty city streets. Your voice is spot on - really, really nice job - I will be downloading this one when I get home!

Thanks so much, Percolate! I'm still actually kinda new at this stuff, but Armin has mad skills and a great ear! Thanks for the comment and for giving it a listen!

Thanks a lot Teddy! That's what we were going for on the vocals - there's a whole lot of emotions in those words Rhett wrote! Thanks for the comment!

Great job here! Guitar work is spot on, and the groove in the backround really moves things along nicely. I also enjoy the flute solo as well. Really, really great!

Wonderful! The guitar work is terrific, and I really enjoy the feeling that the backing "instruments" give to the piece. Very good work! Keep it up!

Wow - beautiful voice here... I might pick up the tempo just a hair, but I totally see where you were going in trying to get all you can out of the vocals. The instrumentation is great for this as well.

Very very nice.
