"leave it to the real composers"? Bull-f*ckin-****, Andy. I'm glad I listened to this on my big speakers. That's all I've got to say.

Though - if I can be totally honest? The piccolo line near the beginning didn't do much for me. I think it's just those last couple notes it plays that I'm not crazy for (I know, I'm a persnickety b*tch, don't say it). I don't really know what I'd want put in its place if you were to take it out, though... Maybe a low flute melody? Part of this just has to do with me not being crazy for piccolos in the first place, haha.

Everything else, though, I love. ...Naturally. You know, I'm starting to feel like a total toolbag for favoriting everything you've churned out. Maybe you should just not write any more music to make me feel better about that. smiley
Darkness Prevails by anitric2000 1 year ago
The violin (viola?) at the end make me want to curl up in ball, somewhere in the darkness, and die. Marvelous. So expressive, especially with the reverb (...to mask the lack of interval performance? Hahah, I'm guilty of that.)

Anyway, this is the part where I get vulgar and use crude language to describe how much I love the horns, but I've done that about three times over already, so I'll spare you. All I have to say is, 1:32.

If there's anything I'd suggest, it'd be thickening the texture between 0:55 and 1:13, whether that be adding more "umph" to the low percussion, or layering the section with strings and woodwinds. It felt a bit lacking. Maybe some low single note piano hits? Big bass drums, heavy double basses... Dunno, just kickin around ideas.

This totally was a dynamic departure from your usual. The imagery that comes to mind is chilling and wonderful. I'm especially fond of the title. Here's to sadness and Bad Endings.
The Waiting Room by RazbaqueDirge 1 year ago
The Bad. Only one thing. The second note that the bass plays -- which I suppose is the second chord in the main progression, where everything moves up a couple half steps. I know that you probably intended the bass note that plays to be out of key with everything else, maybe to create dissonance and enhance the feeling of anxiety and dysphoria. But the note it plays just straight-up bugs me, hahah. Each time I hear it, I want so bad just to slide the note up or down a couple notes to make it fit with the chord the synths are playing on top of it.

Tough part's over. Now the good.

This is the first time in a while that a song here on iComp has made me feel so deeply immersed in the environment the artist is trying to paint. A lot of this has to do with mixing - and I've gotta hand it to you, the mixing here is superb. Talk about atmosphere. The airy rattling on the left and the reversed rattling on the right are imperative to the nature of the song, in my opinion. They help create such a particular ambiance; if you were to take them away, the image and mood of the room would change drastically.

Another detail I love is the delay/echo on the bass. I feel like that's risky business, putting delay on a bass... I've only heard it done once or twice that I can think of. You pulled it off perfectly. Fist-bump.

The Hollowing Difference by RazbaqueDirge 1 year ago
Really dug this. Sinister with a nearly positive spin. If there's anything I could recommend, it'd be pumping up the EQ on the kick drum. I like the beat, but it sounded flat on the low end.

Hah, I also love the downward slide at the very end, especially with that reverb/echo.

Overall, great song. I've listened to it almost three times so far!

Same story as Trevs - not a House listener, but I was hooked from the start; didn't fully appreciate the bass till you brought it around a second time. The part about 3/4 of the way through where the bass and rhythm drop off and the synths go high -- perfection. It gave me chills so hardcore, hahah. Toward the end (about 9/10 through) when it's winding down and that clashing noise hits and pans back and forth -- the transition to that part seems too abrupt, like the track just suddenly started over. I'd create a lead-in (maybe like an atmospheric synth?) and carry it over the clash to smoothen things out.

Gorgeous.

The only thing I can point out is that the strings seem just a tiny, TINY bit delayed, maybe because of the reverb. I don't know if you quantized them or not, but I run into this a lot whenever I quantize staccato string samples, especially if they have reverb; I just scoot 'em over to the left by a hair so they'll sound in-time with the rest of the instruments.

Again, this is beautifully composed and executed, especially the oriental bit at the end.
Praecaveo (be on one's guard) by A1K3M1 1 year ago
Cool textures on the beats. Love how heavy it all sounds. Ultravioletta's right, this could easily fit right into an anime soundtrack. My only gripe is that the first beat seems slightly off-rhythm with the second; and also, the timing of the random beats toward the end seem a little off, too, in certain places.
Occaeco Laena (invisible cloak) by A1K3M1 1 year ago
The plucky-sounding synth that begins about 2/5 of the way in is really neat. Wasn't too much a fan of the bubbling synths that pan throughout the song. Also, there was some clipping on my earphones at the beginning when the low synths come in... Overall, interesting track.
i am you by darrenallen 1 year ago
Surreal, magical... This song and "La Petite Fille de la Mer" by Vangelis would get along well together. I almost want to call it simplistic in its mood, but that wouldn't be true -- it makes me feel so many things.

If there's anything I can come up with as far as constructive criticism, I think it'd be neat if you added more warmth to the synths, making them less metallic and crisp sounding. Borderline vintage, but not trashy. The organ synth-sounding instrument in Beirut's "Nantes" and "A Sunday Smile" is a perfect example of what I'm envisioning. Though, that's what I'd like to hear; the way you've done it may be exactly how you want it.

Also, this is really anal and nitpicky of me, but there are some places where a few of the synths could use a touch of quantizing -- not much, jut a little -- mainly between 0:40-:53, and then that synth on the left that does the upward walk at 0:57. I'd leave everything else alone, though; if you were to quantize all the notes, it'd lose its humanism and charm.

Lastly. I'm rarely moved by poetry just by itself. To me it's usually lifeless and forgettable. But, the poem in the description. Know that I've written it down in the back of one of my friend's books for her to find when I give it back to her. That's how beautiful it is.

No sweat, I'm sorry if I came off too brutal or pretentious about that fast part! I wouldn't be so straightforward and opinionated with you, though, if I didn't think you were talented. After listening to just a small portion of your music, it's undeniable that you have a gift, which is why you deserve as much honesty and constructive criticism as possible.
Lullabybye by MrChicago 1 year ago
Beautiful. Love the combination of the piano and bells/celeste. What piano is that, if you don't mind me asking?
Children by MrChicago 1 year ago
Hah, this is great. I like the beginning -- it reminds me of a contemporary version of Satie's Gymnopedie No 1.

If I can be honest here, I can't say I'm crazy about the part where it speeds up about halfway through. It sounds the tiniest bit sloppy in the fingering, and when you compare its selection of notes with the rich melodic major and minor chords used in the rest of the song, the choice of notes played during that part seem weak. Sort of diatonic, and therefore not as rich as everything else, musically speaking. I hope I'm making sense here, haha.

I VERY much enjoy the part right after that, though -- the steady driving chords in the left hand, the beautiful offbeat bouncing and dancing of the right hand. Definitely my favorite part of the song - I listened to it over and over again.

Great work!
Hunted by MrChicago 1 year ago
Ahh, I love that high staccato cello (?) riff that plays at the beginning. Excellent use of instrumental dynamics and textures. I think it would've been cool if there were more of a build up, maybe layering it with legato and tremolo strings toward the end to create more tension. That's just my taste, though. Very well done, sir!

I think some reverb on the percussion and mallets could really add to the mystique.

No surprise about the crazy dream after reading House of Leaves. Such a mindf*ck of a novel!
Heart of Danger by billylimbo 1 year ago
Wicked. Love the vibrato in your voice; it's gripping and adds a definite tightness to the lyrics and melody, perfect for the nature of the song. The only two things I can think of that could use improving are the mixing of your vocals (they sound slightly dull; I'd tamper with the EQ to make them richer-sounding, more dynamic), and the quality of the drum samples. Outside of that, you're solid.
Invasion by Biddup 1 year ago
Harp and tubular bells have always been one of my favorite combos; such a neat balance between majestic and magical. I was particularly fond of the last couple measures, after the xylophone ends, where the strings do that quick upward riff, followed by the harp and the final chord. Listened to that bit over and over.

I was going to write up some constructive criticism, but I just looked at your page and saw that you haven't been online in a year, so there's a good chance I'd just be wasting my breath (keystrokes?). In short, though, my biggest qualm is the the muddiness in the middle with the horns -- the french horn/trombone (?) begins to play that broken minor chord melody, but it's hard to follow what it's doing because the it's sort of squashed/pierced/outshone by the high trumpet that plays in its register. This could probably be fixed with a touch of mixing or panning, or perhaps syncopating the trumpet melody so it doesn't get mixed up with the horn melody.
Novembre 30th by VignettingLoophole 1 year ago
Gorgeous arrangement. Warm, lush, and from the heart. Definitely Richter-esque; it also reminds me a lot of Lol Hammond. One thing, though, is that I think it would've been more emotionally moving if it had slowed down toward the end and then ended on a soft, quiet note or chord, maybe in the mid-to-low end, with no strings playing, just piano. (Though I do like the light touch of strings throughout the song!)

Overall, excellent track!
A Make Believe Reality by VignettingLoophole 1 year ago
Oh MAN. I'm crazy for the first segment. That dark, airy backdrop, the soft piano, the wobbling intermittent synth. It's perfect. Yamaoka would be proud. I just wish that part were longer!

If I can be totally honest with you, I wasn't much into the latter segment. That slowed down/transposed drum beat is cool, as well as the light background pads wafting in and out, but I couldn't get into the synth playing the main melody. If I had my way, I probably would've made it to where, after the first segment of the song, you go into some more airy atmospheric arrangements, then bring it back to the first segment with the drum beat. Like an A-B-A type model. That way, at least it retains the same mood throughout.

That has all to do with my taste, though--I have a hard time getting into songs that are split into two stylistically different parts, even if there's some sort of meaning/significance behind the inclusion of both of them. To me it hampers the listenability, especially when the parts are so different in mood and atmosphere.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I wouldn't have written all that out if I didn't think you had talent and knew what you were doing. It's unquestionable that you've got potential, so I think you deserve a bit more than "nice track!! 5 stars!" etc, even at the risk of getting long drawn-out pretentious comments. smiley

Also, I'm trying so hard to pinpoint which samples of his you tweaked but I can't put my thumb on it!
Silent Hill by SonicPressure_akaELSmith 1 year ago
I LOVE the sonar-sounding synth at the very beginning... reminds me a lot of Yamaoka's more recent stuff, like from Shattered Memories, or the SH4 limited edition unreleased soundtrack. You took this in a very interesting direction and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The only thing I'd recommend is not panning that synth at 1:19 ALL the way to the left; it gets a bit tiring on the ear after a few bars. Other than that, this is great. Downloaded and will listen to on my next Silent Hill binge!

Man, that bass line is WICKED. I'm diggin the song altogether--listened to it about three times so far! I've always liked that main string loop, too, and I think you did it justice here. There is one thing, though: the mix of the drums seems too punchy in certain places. I think it has to do with the reverb on the drums being compressed too much in the mix, maybe? Just a guess. I'm not sure if that's something you did, or Garageband's export engine, or just the way the loop is to begin with. But, anyway, this was a killer track, and a solid improvement over your first version.
The Caped Crusader by anitric2000 3 years ago
I actually really like the two-note Batman theme. It's simple but effective and definitely stays in your head. You did the theme justice here; great orchestration, especially the end (I loves me some brass). Dramatic and powerful, as always!

The only thing I'm concerned about is the velocity of the staccato string samples you're using. They sounded a bit weak towards the middle of the song. I would've suggested doubling or even tripling the higher string section to give it a larger, fuller cinematic sound.

That's the only thing I can really fuss about here, though. Everything else is top-notch.

$10 says you're a closet E!-tard.

I kid.

The day you showed this to me, the melody stayed with me for hours. As maddening as that can be for any melody, that's a sign of a solid composition. When listening to this, I envision the introduction of some sort of colossal military base or imperialistic city. Your work's very visionary.

Diggin the orchestration here, too. Those horns are to die for -- EWQLSO, right?

It's fun to test around with Apple Loops every now and then. I'm like you, I always stick to my own creations, but every so often I'll mess with premade loops just for kicks/out of boredom.

Cool track. I like the stall halfway through, with the echoes drifting off: then bam, back to the music.

For me it seemed a bit too crowded to exude something like tranquility.. Maybe realization? I dunno, I think the little electronic synth loop going on took away from the calming atmosphere. That's just my taste speaking, though. lolololo wtvr.

garblarghaghrgjdf. Second song in a row of yours to give me goosebumps! That's a good sign in my book. What a powerful ballad, both lyrically and melodically. You could have the crappiest voice on iComp and I still think I'd be tempted to favorite this song just for the idea and emotion in conveys. I agree to the T with the message here, rock on.

Good to see you're utilizing your voice with rounding and counterpoint. Great harmonizing and backing vocals going on midway through (oh, and the string arrangement is excellent, btw. This song would be perfect to put a full-blown string orchestra to). For your voice, though, I'd suggest sticking in the lower ranges where it's most comfortable; when you sang up high it sounded too stressed and uncomfortable. Just my two cents.

Fantastic songwriting, keep it up.

Delusional by Stebbo 3 years ago
You have a sincere tone about your voice, I dig that. The style of this song as a whole, combined with your voice, reminds me a lot of Ben Folds (especially the piano-work!).

The narrative lyrics were brilliant. I loved themes of shining too brightly and people shying away, etc. I got chills a few times while listening because of that.

The only nitpicky thing of mine is that each two lines ended on the same word, which kind of bugged me because I'm always expecting a rhyme with more commercial-sounding songs like these. It's not really a big deal, though, just my preference.

Good job, enjoyed this.

Heh, cool! I liked this, it was unique.

I'd suggest adding reverb to those short strings samples -- I think it'd make them a bit more majestic rather than so up-close and personal. That's my style, at least, but you may have been going for that raw sound.

Have you thought about adding a bass? This song is screaming for a grooving bass line! Maybe not grooving, but something the drive it along.

Loved the selection of piano loops. Overall, good job!

Descending Into Hell by jamesjrn 3 years ago
I'm surprised the song remains mostly in a major scale; from the title, I expected a dark minor arrangement to sweep in with the beats. But maybe that can be considered some kind of twisted contrast; optimism and life shrouded by terror and ruin.

Like 4arms said, I'm diggin that screeching synth. Your selection of other synths is good, too. Imaginative and gripping.

Good use of fire ambience, by the way. Nice touch.

A+ for you. You accomplished both your missions: it sounds both chillingly realistic (especially with the glass instrumentation -- love that stuff!) as well as excitingly terrifying. You should play around with glass more, I like how you used it here! The percussion was top-notch.

And also, I don't know what the instrument or effect is, but about halfway-ish into the song there's what sounds like some kind of muted horn? No idea what the articulation is, but whatever it is it's AMAZING and you NEED to use more of it. I'm frickin jealous of that.

And also, Logic Express for you too, huh? It's a ***** to get a grip on, but once you've got it down, it works wonders. I've had LE7 for about a year and I'm still finding new effects and functions. (LE8's on the way, though, I'm retardedly excited. srsly.)

But anyway, nice work as usual!

That three-note violin melody during the first half of the song was stuck in my head long after the song ended. Simple minor chord structure, but it stayed with me.

That second half of the song, though.. Whoa. It was an explosion of something from a completely different world. For some reason I envision the masquerade party from Sweeney Todd (if you saw that); something high-class, unusual, eerie, and magical.

Well done, I'm glad I got to hear this. Sorry I haven't been around much; I'm looking forward to exploring your newer material.

Sustains sounds great. Staccato/shouts eh.. not great, not bad. Just eh. Sorry to hear about the legato performances. It's unlike VSL craft something that's not mind-blowing. Not sure why they released it if they knew that it wouldn't be up to par with the rest of their stuff. Oh well, it's still useful for you to have on hand, as seen from the sustains. Hope you use it to the best of its ability, which I'm sure you will.

Cool orchestrations in the background, especially the woodwinds. Apprehensive, destructive, forceful, driving. Pretty nifty.

Cool production. I'd love to hear your voice run through an actual vocoder... I bet it'd sound amazing. But even with this tuning effect you have on it, it's still pretty cool. I'd lower the volume on the vocals some, maybe adjust the EQ a bit so they don't sound muffled.

Anyway, great cover. Thanks for sharing!

The vocals remind me of the electronic artist Cranes. For a demo, this is a great production, I really enjoyed it. Glad someone here appreciates TPS as much as I do.

One or two things.. The vocals seem to distort in some places, and seem too quiet in others. Maybe use compression on them if you haven't already. And also, the opening synth is a little hard on the ears. But I mean, it's a demo, so of course I don't expect it to be perfect or anything.

Final Fantasy X Suite (Part 1) by anitric2000 4 years ago
I think my favorite part is in the very middle with the piano, harp, and marimba (?) playing the Ending Theme riff.. Very intriguing. Small, simple, yet harmoniously beautiful.

One thing I'd suggest: The velocities during the "battle" part don't seem to be strong enough in the beginning.. Seems sort of lethargic in a way. Maybe if you increase the velocities, it'll give it that real "umph" that it's lacking. The only other thing is that the melody of the battle theme gets drowned out by the harmonies and counter-melodies going on the background.

Other than those two things, it's great. The arrangement is beautifully crafted, and everything sounds so... real. Can't wait to hear the revised/final version.
Finding The Right Path by DOS 4 years ago
It's lacking two things:

1) A good bass drum. It needs a solid beat to give it a core. Right now it feels like it's just floating, waiting to be grounded. Along with the bass drum it also needs a snare hit, like what Rkitek said.

2) A bass line.
High Heels on Wet Pavement by anitric2000 4 years ago
Awesome as usual. Orchestral magic. I love the pulsating strings and distant percussion. Those chimes or bells or whatever they are are a really good effect, too. Adds a water feel, which I guess suits the wet pavement idea nicely. Dark, ominous -- noir. Good job!
Tomb Raider: Suite by anitric2000 4 years ago
Finally, more Tomb Raider! Awesome. The beginning and ending passages with the choir and oboes were really beautiful.. Definitely instilled an atmosphere, and are probably my favorite parts out of the whole song. The instrumentation as a whole was interesting (especially the harp glissandos, I really dug those).

There were some parts that didn't resonate well with me, though. One of them was the string section in the beginning that plays the theme, right before the first solo harp part: the cellos (basses?) play a different chord structure than what the original theme is based on, which is totally fine! But I don't think those low notes lead very well. They start off strong, but then the last few notes in the measure(s) sort of throw me off, like I'm unsure of where the passage is going.

One more thing; about midway through, after the really loud string/choir-heavy section, a staccato-sounding woodwind plays the main theme along with some strings and a muted horn... I don't know what the woodwind is, maybe a clarinet, but I don't think it fits tonally. It sort of throws me off, too.. I'm listening more to the noise it makes than I am the music that it makes, if that makes sense.

All that to say, it's a very good composition. I just had a few nitpicks. You're probably grinding your teeth because I nearly butchered it instead of saying "OMG IT'S PERFECT," which is understandable (I'd do it too). But I thought I'd just throw my two cents out there.

Again, well done!
The Battlefield by anitric2000 4 years ago
Pretty kick-*** if I may say so. Really loving the synth, probably one of my favorite elements. The string work is awesome, and so dynamic. There were a few parts where the string programming seemed weak as far as velocity/attack goes. (I have trouble with it, too) But it was only a few parts. As for the cymbal... I don't think it's too loud. Sure, it could be brought down some if you want, but I think its volume is fine. Excellent! Very unique. I'm jealous of that synth.

Isn't that cut-off thing cool? I love that. (and no I'm not a genius... If I were, people wouldn't be using that effect already. But thanks either way. :F)

This reminds me of a puzzle theme.. Something you'd hear from FFX, like in the Chamber of Fayth. Obviously the bass is well executed, and I really like that chime-ish (is it some sort of harmonic?) thing going on after every bass pluck. Great string work, very epic and raw, very sweeping.

Oh, I totally dig the piano that dances in and out through this. It'd be cool to hear more of that kind of piano in your music (it sounded really cool with the echo!). The strings sound warm yet foreboding, and that brass is killer. Also, the little percussion part that goes throughout the song is pretty snazzy.. gives it that sci-fi feel. Anyway, great piece, unfortunate that it was rejected...
Main Title (Version A) by anitric2000 4 years ago
Cool! I like the chimes going on in the background. The two-hit percussive noise (don't know what it is..sounds metal-ish, sort of) is effective. The horn stabs are really impressive, especially with that reverb on them. The thing that I'm unsure about is the string section that first comes in.. seems a bit too harsh, or loud, but I don't know how that would really play out on-screen, so...

Anyway, good work.

Love the humor here, you had me fooled for twice over. smiley

Beautiful work, you've created such a peaceful ambience. Very soothing and tranquil.. it takes me back to my aunt and uncle's old English tutor house in the woods; this song reminds me of the mornings there. Life would be a lot more relaxing if I woke up to this every morning. I really like it, Howard.

OMGZ IS DAT A REEL ORKESTRUH?

This reminds me a lot of Peter Connely's opening segment for Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (the one where Lara goes into Von Croy's apartment). It has that dark, ominous AOD feel. I like it, though. It's more dissonant and much simpler than your other stuff. I'd love to see this put to opening titles, too, but I guess if it didn't work it didn't work.

ugh i hate you. freaking spoiled Vienna SE brat, you. smiley Top work, as usual!

So soothing. It almost tells a story, it seems like. The recorded storm is so relaxing and suits the feel of the composition very well. I can almost envision this as background music to a movie or video game of some sort. Beautiful stuff. I wonder what this would sound like with deep electronic embellishments.

Nice work! Beautiful playing. I love the sound of your piano. Has that bell-like sound to it. Beautiful composition, creates a lot of visual images. Bravo.

Every time I comment, I'm like "yeah this probably my favorite thing you've done so far lolololo" But I mean it! I like this, a lot. The title fits the mood of the song perfectly, the percussion is well utilized, and the composition is melodic, but still threatening. The strings and woodwinds are still my favorite (particularly the pizzicato strings and staccato flutes), but the rest of the instrumentation adds the perfect touch.

God that's breathtaking. You're making me jealous -- I want SE so bad (I have Chamber Strings and Elements). SE sounds totally worth it. Great quality, especially the oboe and harp. The composition is beautiful and sweeping. Great job. smiley

Awesome! Great utilization of all the different sampler libraries. The strings sound excellent, especially. Love the stylistic progression throughout the whole thing.. It started off just plain cool, then went into the light-hearted Raggae section (loved this part!), then chilling orchestral. And what a great ending, too. Five stars, me thinks.

Totally a retro PS game. Awesome. Has a bit of a Tomb Raider feel, as well as some other game I can't put my finger on.. Nice, though! I'm downloading the instruments and stuff now.

Not bad for 40 minutes, either. It'd probably take me like.. five hours to do all that. D:

Not bad, not bad. Quite a journey of a song. I'd like to see how this plays out on film (er.. video). The whole vibe is ominous with a pinch of threat or terror, but not over the top. My favorite part is about midway through with the string repetitions and the low harp pluck (it was like a mix between the Psycho music and Lost). All in all, good job. Can't wait to hear the Opus 2 stuff.

WHOA.

Talk about action-packed! This is potentially one of my favorite things you've done. Everything in this spectacular. My favorite parts from this are how the woodwinds echo each other in certain passages. Also when the action stops and the woodwinds and harp carry on - That's fantastic. I'd like to see more of that in the future, personally.

Great stuff. I'm wicked-jealous that you have VSL SE. Gah!

God this makes me want VSL SE so badly. That's the next VSL product I'm gonna try to get my hands on. It seems totally worth it, and this piece just proved it -- I had forgotten they had saxes in SE, and man, they sound great! I love the composition, it was very well-written. Beautiful easy listening piece. Downloaded and favorited. Great job. smiley

Well done! Love the ideas going on here. The drum section is a cool arc to the song. Very serious and dramatic. What I really like, however, is the string movement after the drums, how it slows down with just strings and celeste (?). Chilling.

The harp pattern that opens up is WONDERFUL. It made me think of.. well. me.

.. smiley

This totally sounds like something from Last Revelation. An Egypt level, no doubt. She walks into a dark, cobwebbed cave, and then BAM! A boobytrap. Loved the horns in this, but I really like the strings. Becwil described the ending perfectly: a bump in the dark.

Good job! I want to hear more Tomb Raider stuff from you with Special Edition. Right now. No waiting. Get started right now.

Well, this woke me up. Great stuff! The last 30 seconds or so are the most interesting. I love that string pattern that's going on at the end. You're right, the ending seems a bit lacking, but if you could develop it a few bars further, it'd be great. I love the flute in this, too... the composition is of course great, but the quality is astounding.

SO LYK WHERE DID U FIND AN ORCHESTRA TO PLAYY DIS SONG??? LOL

This music's totally amazing. The composition itself is powerful and majestic, and VSL/ESQLSO performed it flawlessly.

Loved everything about it, good job.

Thrilling!

Never seen the movie, but I'm sure this song does it justice. I haven't heard your stuff in a while, so this was a grand piece to come back to. Exhilarating, powerful, and action-packed. Love the percussion as well as the percussive horns and strings. Especially loved the part where everything cuts off and that single tremolo string is playing (viola? cello?). The song sort of reminds me of a battle theme to Final Fantasy or something of that sort.

Encore.

I advertised this song (and Hollow Bastion) in an online video game community -- because these two songs are from a video game -- and people from that forum have been clicking the links to those two songs nonstop.
Passion by eurostrike 5 years ago
Its original song was Alternative, but you're right, it needs to go under classical (though I wish iComp simply had an "instrumental" or "modern classical," since this doesn't ring as "classical" in my ears).

Excellent. Everything sounds so...real. Nothing sounds synthetic at all. Amazing. For what it's worth, I think you should add more reverb. Like I said earlier, the lack of reverb (or lack of lots of reverb) gives it that real "recorded" feel, but what the song the song needs more than anything is a good dramatic/majestic feel, which is where reverb comes in. That's my two cents, at least. Awesome composition, as usual! And that oboe is hot.

Geez! Special Edition was definitely worth the $$$.

This is outstanding. The quality, the composition, the instrument selection; everything. The horns sound so much better than the Silver XP, and make the GB JP4 horns look like complete trash. The strings sound just as good as the Chamber Strings, too. You made a good choice!

The drums aren't weak at all. The piano is soft, and so the beats should be more reserved and casual, which is just what you did. This reminds me of the Gorillaz, funny enough. And that's some excellent piano work, my friend. I thought it was a loop or something at first, but man you've got talent - hip hop producer and a good piano player. Sizzle.

Delicious! Everything from the piano work to the ominous horns. The background percussion is the best part of this song, in my opinion. The timpani/drum hits and the chiming going on is killer, and I'm loving the harp (as usual).

Bravo, sir.
