Thanks for all the kind words - it's funny people mention the effects on the verse vocals - there really are no effects on that part of the vocal. The only vocals I tricked up were in the chorus. With the exception of the guitar solo - there are 2 rhythm guitar parts through out the song which were acoustic guitars. The mid range sound made the mix too muddy and simply changing the eq made it too "tinny" so I added the electric guitar effects to change the tone and bring them out more. This started off musically as more of a Buckethead "Colma" sounding piece, but when Sinoa wrote and recorded the vocals it changed the feel to something more R&B - so I added the piano and keyboards and the mix to make it less ambient rock and more R&B to fit the vocal. Even though it came out sounding nothing like the original vision I am happy with it - it really became this desperate ode to pain and suffering. I am glad people are digging it - I think I will go back to my comfort zone of rock anthems and power ballads for a bit  |
