Biography

fREAK-1-C was a rock band with a funky edge that played the London club scene and were regular entertainment on the VW Enthusiast scene, playing at festivals like Big Bang, VWoodstock and Bug Jam. The band started in 1996 as a band called Ultra-High Frequency, but as time went on the name was shortened to Frequency, and then fREAK-1-C. The line-up of the band changed quite dramatically over the years, with the core members being singers Ian Husbands and Stephanie Lamoureux who remained constant up until early 2005 when the band split up.

The finest and last incarnation of fREAK-1-C recorded the bands debut album, "Swimming With The Big Fish" in early 2004, collecting together the best of the tracks the band had played over the years into one strong 11 song album.

The band played live acoustic sets on regional and student radio stations, and were interviewed on many other radios, including a slot with Dr. Pam on LHR. The album received mostly rave reviews from the music press and Powerplay Magazine even featured the band on their magazine cover CD.

But as they say, all good things come to an end, and the pressure of trying to promote an indie band on no budget, with no management or financial backing started to show the cracks in the band... Eventually in early 2005, less than a year after the release of their debut album, the difficult decision was made and the band split up.

But, now in 2009, some fREAK-1-C songs have been sent to a competition called One Last Dream on Absolute Radio (used to be Virgin Radio) and the band are competing for the chance to reform and play at Hyde Park Calling, a festival in London's Hyde Park alongside acts including Neil Young...
