2016 - Your Year In Music | 2017 - The Road Ahead
December 22, 2016 | 5:35 pm

Did you accomplish everything you set out to do in music this year?
What are your hopes for the New Year in Music?

In 2016
•I kept learning the production end of Reaper DAW
•I accumulated many midi-editing tricks
•I discovered how to utilize Channel i/o for custom Surround-Sound & better panning
•I pumped out over 100 compositions
•I spent/wasted time & $$$ on Hit License trying to get TV-Movie-Commercial Placements. They don't give you ANY FEEDBACK on what your submission was missing. Learned that they only pick the same names repeatedly, who can churn out "formula cues" in a couple of hours
•I stumbled on iCompositions, found a broader audience, and heard some great stuff

In 2017
•I will continue improving engineering skills (maybe even side-chaining and compressors)
•I will attempt to pump out another 100 compositions
•I will waste even more time & $$$ on Taxi trying to get TV-Movie-Commercial Placements. At least Taxi gives every song a useful critique. (I am a sucker for punishment.)
•I hope to hear more really great comps on iCompositions

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year - Phil

I have learnt not to hand feed fresh meat to five or more feral cats
at the same time,

I have learnt that in the course of wrongly wiring an electrical appliance I have become highly allergic to life threatening electrical shocks.

I have learnt to carefully check the fuse time on any illegally imported asian firework. And to ensure that I am wearing the very best sprint trainers available before I actually light the blue touch paper........Again.

I have learnt never to mix Tequila with Laphroaig Scotch Whiskey ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever ! Again !! Ever !!!!

I have learnt not to say to a member of the opposite sex
" That looks small on you "

I have learnt sadly, once again, power corrupts.

I have learnt never to take a sure fire tip for the Grand National horse race from a bloke who knows a bloke who's cousin is married to a guy who's sister in law works
for a guy who's brother owns a barbershop with a client who knows a girl who's sister once worked with a guy whose third uncle worked with a friends daughter who knew a a stable boy called 'Simple' Billy who told her he overheard two race horses talking in a dream about which horse would win, arriving at the conclusion
that a race entry called ' Lost Cause ' would steal it hands down.

In 2017

I will commence construction of a viable nuclear shelter with renewed vigour and enthusiasm.

I thoroughly enjoyed all those songs in 2016, and wish you luck with the nuclear recording studio.
