I like it. The fuzz guitar sounds a bit Isley Bros 70s.

Who would have guessed? Sidd the closet flute player!

Thanks people. I never know what to do with a Hendrix song. Do you try to play it note perfect or completely ignore Jimi and just do your own?

It's good Steve, you should add a couple more verses.
Spaghetti Noodle Madness by JTC 2 years ago
What is already there sounds good it needs some kind of contrast theme in the middle maybe.
Short and sweet by albumflaps 2 years ago
You are becoming a very good ballad player. I thought the background was workable - but I've been listing to some old Fripp lately, so I've been conditioned. (Court of CK and Lark's Tongue in Aspic)
Moods (Seven) - Hope by albumflaps 2 years ago
All of the above. In a hyphenated word: tastefully-underplayed.
Splasicmenco by albumflaps 2 years ago
Excellent piece of Post-Modernist Euro Fusion Core! Actually it's a bit like some of the guitar albums on the ECM label back in the 70s - that's a compliment!
Autumn in New York by ExperimentalPotts 2 years ago
Beautiful version of one of my favourite songs.
Finale by JTC 2 years ago
Drums sound OK to me, you could bring the lead guitar up a bit and I think it does need another riff in the middle. Aside from those things the playing's good and it's quite catchy.
Almost Cut My Hair by pharmakeus 2 years ago
Very authentic period guitar work. I recently picked up a copy of his album "If I could only remember my name" which I originally bought in 72? 73? This song is from Deja Vu, isn't it? I'd love to do a track from "...remember my name"

Country and Eastern Music (Jan Hammer cover) by tonestones 2 years ago
Very good playing.I still have that album...somewhere. Like Children, I think it was called. You sounded good on all instruments and your piece at the end fitted nicely.
Cissy Strut by farlow 2 years ago
The Meters broke up in 1977 and have had a few regroupings and reunions. Art Neville - the main writer is now 72 so he may not travel much.

Thanks for the comments people.

Interesting. Are they both synthetic instruments?
You Don't Know Me-remix by musikgrl 2 years ago
I'm no engineer either but I think this is better. You are primarily a lyricist so that's what people listen for. Maybe you could chat with some of the mixers on here. I thought that recent Rubydubidoux version of the Grace Jones song was well balanced - even with a fairly busy backing.

The most important thing is that you can write. Most of us can play but never write.
You Don't Know Me by musikgrl 2 years ago
I couldn't hear a lot of the lyrics very clearly, like "New Year's Eve" I worked out because of "Yuletide" just before it and the line after "pillow" I couldn't get that at all. I never record vocals so I can't suggest anything you could do differently. The rest is fine and the midi backing fits the song well. (I wasn't constantly thinking "She shoulda used real instruments)

(chaos coice '(process as a tool to reach a purpose) '(process as a purpose)) by jamesxsrecords 2 years ago
I liked it, except for the last 10 seconds. I thought that by having a complete sentence of spoken word you undermined the rest of the piece. It's very good though.

Thanks for the comments people. This is turning out to be my most-played song !?!?!? I wonder if Jennifer Paige ever did anything else.

Good work Sidd. Nice contrast in the guitar tones. Nice simple idea, well-expressed without being overdone or shred-wanked.

Thanks Steve. I was going to send Zombre a guitar-only track anyway.

Thanks, I think. I don't know what "dry" guitar is.
Dreamcatcher by SiddP 2 years ago
It's very nice Sidd. I like the way you under-played it instead of blasting through it.
I miss you Squeek. by albumflaps 2 years ago
The more minimal you get, the better it sounds. Once you've stripped everything away, you can build it back up with a much harsher test on what's "necessary" or "relevant" Cool

This is definitely one of the best "Polar Bear" songs I've heard this week!

Yes I'd like to download it too. It's a great groove for jamming guitar with.
My Last Serenade (Vocal cover) by Imoneofakind 2 years ago
That's well done, both the growling and the clean. I don't know the original but the vocals certainly fit the song. What next?

Different, almost Un-you! So the years of alcoholic brain damage are starting to kick in! (The worst part is that, This, I can play over, so what does that say about me?)
Psycho A Go-Go by marshall2288 2 years ago
I agree with Xolv that this piece would go well with lyrics. Not necessarily singing - think "2 Bullets" by John5. It's just spoken lines about... well I won't say what it's about.
Otherside by marshall2288 2 years ago
I dunno if I'd call it "funk". I'd definitely call it good. You've got structure there, you've got good balance between the guitars. Cool!

Thanks for the kind words people.
Final Assault on Precinct 13 (Cover) by albumflaps 2 years ago
All aspects - playing, structure, etc - I think this is the best track I've heard you play.
Black Cat Funeral by JTC 2 years ago
I like the textural contrast between the two guitar tones. For the record, I have a cat but I'm really more a dog person. My cat's a psychotic serial-killing *****! On any day she can eat 2 rabbits or 6 rats or about 6 quails a sparrow and two pigeons!

Really nice tone and you kept it sparse. Good stuff!
Peace in Harmonies. by albumflaps 2 years ago
Your use of texture is really improving all the time - possibly playing with the Line6, you are thinking more about structure and development because you don't have to blast notes out to fill every gap.

Quantum Psychics (Rough take) by albumflaps 2 years ago
Still thinking... I d/l'ed it and I'll have a few more listens. No strong feelings one way or the other yet. Nice tones - betcha glad you bought that Line6. Is it legal in Belfast to marry a Line 6 Pod?
Nothin Compares 2U FINAL EDIT. by albumflaps 2 years ago
I would have changed the tone on the guitar for a middle verse. Other than that it's good.
Don't Stop - Micheal Jackson Remake by ThirdRail 2 years ago
This is very challenging, the way you take the listener to the precipice, riddled with uncertainty and trepidation. Your melodic lines assault all our comfortable notions of normalcy. We are forced to ask ourselves, "Is this real? Am I real? Is anything real?" It's alarming and disturbing, part epic novel, part creation myth, but always provocative and, strangely, just reassuring enough to make me want to live one more day!

Oh, hang on, I'm thinking of a different song!
