Very cool...

I love your co-host. Knows just when to come in with the perfect comment.

You've got a wonderful voice...

Been awhile, Mori. I'd either forgotten or had never heard your guitar work. Sounds great, man, as does everything else about the tune!

Is that a hollow body? Nice relaxed vibrato...sweet.

Tunes like these don't really need polish. Not like the subject matter's very polished. Raw and to the point. Great delivery. Like your playing, too.

Ardent Spirits...are they ethereal or gutteral?

I like them, whatever they are...

Great piece. The contrasts are striking. The vocals are lovely. Serious synth work.

Hmmm...

"Seriousynth"...

Time to make an entry to Wikipedia.

Bravo, Andreas!

Wonderful thing, being able to compose and record in the comfort of your own home. Add to that the ability to experiment with voice timbres using this vocal software. Amazing...

Beautiful piece. Well crafted and from the heart. Agree with others here, about a live setting. Got a cathedral and chorus handy...?

smiley

Actually: that's not so flippant. Works like this deserve to be performed.

Nice 'n dirty...straight ahead stuff...might think about some lyrics and electric guit fills...love the fade out guitar at the end...would you consider working that into more of the song?

Sunday afternoons can be so rewarding...

Well...I'm listening on some ok computer speakers. And it rocks! I can imagine how it'll sound in a stage setting with big ol' speakers boomin' it out...awesome.

I love the electric guit coming in and out. Very dynamic sound. Powerful piece made all the more so with the variations in dynamics. Very cool...

Triple Trouble by gitapik 3 years ago
Hmmm...looks like he deleted the original from here and MacJams (I spend time there, too). Too bad. It was sweet.

He used the same sound bed with OneSweetWorld singing this over it, before he asked me to put my two cents in. Here's the melody I based the solo on:

http://www.macjams.com/song/32628

Hectorious sent me his rhythm track (drums/percussion/bass/rhythm guit) and I put the lead over it along with a couple of fills. I used both the Floyd Rose and my hands for the vibrato. Used GB for the lead tone (which really surprised me...nice stuff).

Glad you said that about the "speed" angle. I agree: it's really important to mix it up. Otherwise there's nothing to compare to. And I love the sustain on the electric guitar. Shades of "Spinal Tap"...

Thanks, Eido...
12-String Jam by Eidolonia 3 years ago
My brother was a wonderful 12 string player. I grew up to this sound. You've "got the knack"...and open tunings are lot of fun, as you obviously know...

I'd put this under the "World" genre...cool tune...

Then the Rain by gitapik 3 years ago
It's tricky getting it right for everything from headphones to a big subwoofer. That's why I'm hiring a pro for some of my mixing and all of my mastering. I'll be putting out a CD in the fall and I want it to be "right".

Thanks, Eido...and, "yes", I've got lots more. Even some electric. I'm not around as much as I'd like to be...but we'll be talking about each other's sounds as time moves on, I'm sure.

[Cover] Shroud Of False by Eidolonia 3 years ago
I can relate about vox...I just started doing them again after decades of hibernation (not to mention writing lyrics). It's a whole 'nuther thing, recording the voice.

Can also understand your reluctance with reverb. Tricky to find the right mix.

Cool tune, though...not familiar with this band, but you obviously know the genre. Sounds great, man...

Then the Rain by gitapik 3 years ago
Thanks so much for taking the time out to comment and the kind words.
I'm having a rough time with the eq on this...but will be taking it to a "pro" tomorrow (along with some other tunes) to work on exactly what you're talking about.
Thanks again...I'll be visiting your "domain" soon...

Yeah...I've got some nice Dunleavys and a subwoofer. Real nice system. It's really about having it loud enough to catch the nuances...realized that last night. *Doh!*

Sounded great at a louder volume.

Thanks, feenixx.

Goodbye Friend by Lapotu 4 years ago
Love the tune and production. Trumpet's a nice touch. Vocals? Reluctance is understandable...often from genius. You've got a fine, fine voice, Jackie...sounds great on this...besides the notes, you seem to understand the music and are coming from a very nice place, which is so important and difficult to teach.

Hot tune...I love funk. Used to play in a band that did some...

I'm real new on the production end...so can't say what to do in that line...I would say, though, that I'd add that guitar. Keep it flat (taper the 10 band eq into a V shape...very low mid) (sorry if you knew that), and in the background. Rhythm funk guitar's huge, IMHO, when it comes to keeping that funky drive going. Couple of lead fills, too...

I think this rocks.

Thanks for the comments, folks. Glad to have a positive reception...

I have to take responsibility for the "hot" vox (yeah, baby: they're HOT!). I'm really, mainly, a guitarist/composer...truth be known. Just gotten back into singing/lyrics in the last year after a decades long absence. And recording myself is even a newer endeavor. Sooooo...when ziti sent me the completed mix, I sent it back, kindly asking him to raise the vox. He did so without complaint ...probably because, as a Red Sox fan, he knows how stubborn us Yankee fans can be. Who knows?

It's funny...on my stereo speaks it's fine. Headphones can be a problem, though. Have to give it some attention.

Thanks for the welcome...
