Really beautiful piece, timeless and haunting.
hangover eyes finished by rickyeatworld 4 years ago
Very interesting, I like. The vocal trasittions are very 'ear catching' and give the piece it's personality. Very passionate performance.
Couple suggestions : mike the guitar separately, and close, no more than a foot. Also bass and percussion woudl really fill it out, nothing heavy. It almost has kind of a swing beat at the end ...
Impaciencia by nois 4 years ago
Very expressive vocals, nicely constructed and hook-y song. I wish I knew the
language, but even without it seems very accessable. I also like minimalistic
arrangements. I will no doubt play this more than once! Keep posting!
The Problem with Trousers by WettonFan 4 years ago
Wow, awsome technique. If I hadn't been keyed to listen for it I would probably
not have noticed. It is the vibrato that nails it , btw.
Mississippi Uptown by pete 4 years ago
One of my all time favs from the dead, great tribute! Thanks!
I am going to go put on a mid 70's show right now! (I just
love that refrain "a-cross the rio grande" ...)
Island of Forever by pete 4 years ago
This really resonates with me! I so want a steel drum to mess with!
That beautiful island swing feeling, and you voice is perfect for it
too. the recording is so clear too!
Exquisite!
Southbound Train - remix by gongoputch 4 years ago
Sorry, i mis-labelled this, the only loop is the drum, which I
make on groovelab (google groovelab). Even that backwards thing
is me picking on acoustic (I had a ***** of a time reversing the
progression). I did use a lot more effects and mixing than I usually
do, but I did it with a specfic overall goal in mind, so I won't call it
a 'sin' ...
i should pay more attention when putting this stuff up. Garage band
was defaulted to 64Kbps when I exported it too, so this fidelity sucks smiley
Espérance by j_livingston 4 years ago
I just love the carribean/african influence. I myself fall into an island
groove quite a bit. This just sounds _rich_ with sonic depth.
I may ping you with some ideas for collaboration ...

Thanks, i wish I could replace the file, I had GB set to export 64Kbps smiley I would

MONDAY'S MELODIES on Tuesday by itiswotitis 4 years ago
Lupiroz original was so moving to me, now to hear this mix with the additional
vocals is just too cool. Kinda makes me wish I could sing.
One day when I grow up, and stop piddling around, I want to make music still stunningly
beautiful. For now, I'll just listen to you guys.
Stop Aids Now! by vegetal by vegetal 4 years ago
really nice smooth production, minimalistic yet driving composition.
I like.
Little Wing (for Mungo) by ziti 4 years ago
This is a really smooth rendition! I like the interpretation, the straight cover has become
a bit of guiatrist' version of lifting weights, which a shame IMO. You have an obvious mastery
of this, and what a tone!
This one is gonna send me off to the wood shed for a while ...
Where Does The Time Go, Missus? by mike8657 4 years ago
I have often wondered if there are things you have to have lived to 'get', and usually by
the time I think to ask the question, I already have my answer.
Very well done, i also like your video style.
Your City of Angels by mike8657 4 years ago
Wow, what a story. You have a turn of phrase, for sure!
The End by Leahbanicki 4 years ago
What a song! What a mature and emotioinal vocal performance, brimming with that ending
melancholy and a kernel of hope within! Really great pads and harmonies too! I love the simple arrangement, so true.
DAMN! i wish i could do more than croak like a frog smiley
Why am I by Leahbanicki 4 years ago
This has a really hip swing to it, that slinky winding bass line is really sexy.
And WOW, your voice is really really good.

This really gets the point across. I am sorry to note that you obviously know of what you
have written. I always try to remember that to miss someone, you had to have known
them, and this is better than having neither.
Southbound Train by gongoputch 4 years ago
It is actually commonly called a Bandolin :
http://home.utcorp.net/~gongo/instruments/banjolin.jpg
This instrument was a gift to me as a child of about 10, the owner of a gormet food shop
in my home town gave it to me. It sat for almost 30 years on a library book shelf. Then when
my mother passed we were inventorying and packing, I spotted it and took it to my
luthier (fancy word for guitar builder) and he made it whole again. It totally grabbed me, i
played it for a month almost exclusively.
I own a violin, but alas, my skills fail me there smiley
There is something country fried down in my soul somewhere I think. I am on that train with you listening to that rhythm and thinking about how happy it will be when we get to that place where everyone is an old friend smiley
I made a 'remix of it, a slightly more abstract take on it, but basically the same song.
Wave by gongoputch 4 years ago
Thank you so so much for your kind words! I editted the page to allow icomp members to
'Allow others to "remix" this song'. I love it when music washes over me (like a wave, hehe)
and pulls me into it, and when someone gets that from something I did, well that is just
the whole reason I do it right there smiley
And it is not your headphones, the acoustic is a bit muddy. I am using my taylor 410 on this and it has so much bottom end it is overwealming the little lavelier mic I am using! Good ear!
Oh, and I LOVE good old mr. Young too!
You are in Hawaii? way cool! Must be absolutely beautiful there!

This is just soooo smooth, but with an edge too ...
Like a snifter of single malt scotch.
Damn, but when I hear stuff like this I feel foolish even posting on icomp ... guess that means
I'll just listen and play even more smiley

HASSAN I SABAH (remastered) by Mikee 4 years ago
This has a real cool groove to it. Nicely balanced, simple and complete.
And I often wonder if I would like the music I make ... if I didn't make music.
If THAT makes any sense to you. Ah, you can get tied up in knots with such
questions, best to just do what you do, eh?
Synced echo grooves in Garageband by gongoputch 4 years ago
I don't know that the video resolution limitations are here
on icompositions, so I crushed it to some pretty small numbers.
Here is a full scale version:

along with the drum sample I used.

Wow, you have that 'lazy precsion' (what I call it) that just
seems to lay out so perfectly. A really good piece like this
just brings visuals to my minds' eye. Nice work! thanks!

A mixdown for mfwmiles to hear by gongoputch 4 years ago
Mfwmiles: Anytime! I had fun doing this. Doing parts
can be different, I don't have to worry about the overarching
structure, theme, melody, etc. just 'cop a moment' and go for
it.
A real pleasure.
Now, if I can just figure out how to move this to
'collaborations' ... smiley
Four Four Mentality by woofer3 4 years ago
I love this song! Great idea, great production! It has real
character.
Back in 2000, I got my VW GTI 16v crushed at a green light
while waiting for a line of cars to clear and make my left
turn. It was a Lexus SUV and the guy WAS ON HIS CEL PHONE
that rear ended me at 50 mph.
GGRRRRRR
Just for everyone's information : never make your 'cut' (turn
your wheels) before you move to actually make your turn. If I
had that night, I would not be here to laugh along with this
song smiley

Damn smooth. I have soooo much to learn, could you put together
a (some?) tutorial(s) on how to make something seamless and
smooth that moves along .... like this?

Enviously yours,

Very sliding groove, it all fits together so well. I have a
