There was this book written back in the '30s called "War With The Newts" I think.
It was about this tiny island of salamanders that slumbered along for thousands of years until some sailor on a passing boat drops a knife overboard and the Newts, with this new technology start killing each other, socializing with complexity, industrialising, militarising and eventually set off to conquer the world. Garageband is kind of like that for some of us. People who would have been happy sittilng around in their underware drinking wine and watching reruns of Reba suddenly discover this freebe program on their Mac and quit macrame altogether.
