Biography

Jamil was born in Liverpool, UK, home of the Beatles and many other famous names and faces who have and continue to have a strong influence in the world of music even today. At the tender age of 2 he emigrated to Alberta, Canada with his family were he spent most of his early years growing up. After traveling through Canada and the US he ended up living in Toronto, this is were he developed a passion for the arts, especially music. Music became a natural reflex to Jamil as his skills evolved and developed on various instruments. Everything from the piano to the horn and even the guitar, at this point he was playing different genres of music to develop his skills. Unfortunately, these skills were to be put on the backburner for a while as his living situation became more turbulent during his early teenage years. This lead him to pursue other avenues and unfortunately laid his talents to bed for a short period of time, but not forever.

After a period of living an unsettled nomadic lifestyle on the streets, Jamil rediscovered his passion for music. He was influenced by different musical genres and having come from a musical background, an uncle having worked and shared a studio with BABYFACE and family friend TONY RILEY who was a drummer for the supremes, Jamil grew up on 70’s and 80’s soul music which influences him and many other people even today. Starting out with a few performances with some of his brethrens in Canada 'Peep Game’ he began performing alongside some big names as an opening and support act were he continued to further craft his skill. As family commitments began to take control after the birth of his daughter his travels began again, as he was to move back to the UK to join his family. He is currently working on establishing himself as a N.American & U.K. artist with a twist, due to his cross Atlantic influences showcasing his unique sound and poetic skills. His first independent release called "FIRST STRIKE" was put out in August 2007. As a first release, 'First Strike' is only a sample of what Jamil has to offer as an artist and co-producer. So keep a look out for him!
