How ironic - I got the .php error when uploading this last night about file size, and assumed my .mp3 needed to be trimmed down. Apparently, it was the screenshot of ProTools with dual monitors at mix down. (I closed my browser and assumed this hadn't yet uploaded.)

Thanks for the compliment pharmakeus - this one does require multiple listens before it makes much sense, and the lead is still a mess.

On the upshot, I'm working with a live drummer and vocalist now, and we might massage this into something. Add some bass and who knows. smiley

Very nice - lush tones for guitar, with a metallica feel to it.

Warning all - you'll be seeing this grow a lot over the next 48 hours.

Drums are a loop, with a cap on the end.
Rhythm guitar is my Taylor 412, left channel direct with a touch of phaser, right channel is close mic'd with an SM58Beta.

I got lazy on the lead - meant to drag everything down to the basement, fire up the Orange AD30TC and multi-mic it... in my haste to make progress I shot straight through the GNX4 in stereo with a touch of delay, chorus and a stomper. (Warping amp emulation, a 50/50 mix of Princeton with 2/12 american cabinet and a tweed through a british 4/10.)

Won't do that again. The next round of lead guitar will be done "proper".

Thanks for the compliment!
The up/down bit is a Whammy set for two octaves up.
I hit the left channel with "Amplitude" by IK Multimedia during mix down to give it more compression and a delay that's sorta out of phase with the original delay. The right channel is a nice 23 meter Hall reverb, 1.146 seconds with a 2ms of delay - compliments of Lexicon Pantheon.

I had a great time throwing this down... now that I've come back and attempted to "clean it up" it doesn't appear to have the same feel... so I canned it.

Illuminator: I thought of the Scorpions the moment he kicked in the lead... ring a bell?

I agree on the low end but - but in most senses I expect you are commiting my greatest mixing sin; instead of pulling all else down to highlight a track, you are pushing... and then push another track, and soon you're crapping out. In the digital world, we don't get the warmth and compression you can get when hitting analog tape real hard.

Performance was tastey!
