Love the original.
Love this version. It really is amazing to hear it without the vocals. You can really pick out the details and the intricate bits within the music. A masterpiece.

I can't wait for the completed piece. Goosebumps every time I hear it.

Love its harshness, with the great backing in contrast. The vox is a great collaboration of performance and engineering. I'd give it a 97.6 (to use the 'bandstand' scale).

TRB Love Theme Reprise/End Credits (Orchestra) by ESAFoster 2 years ago
This is so much more filled that the previous version. I also agree with scaustrita on a number of things. I believe that more bass strings would round the bottom out a bit more and give it that pit of the stomach lurching it needs. I also agree on the note about quarter notes.

One other note to consider is letting the strings trail off at the end, instead of the piano... Just a thought.

Well done.
TEAR IN MY BEER by KCsGROOVE 2 years ago
Reminiscent of the Doors, in more ways than one.
I enjoyed the low vocals because, along with the lyrics being posted, I could follow them. If the lyrics weren't posted I would have had a difficult time making some of them out.

The ebb and flow of the song was well done. I was a bit surprised that there was no large solo, as the song had the emotion for one.

Very well done.
Feelin' Alright (Traffic Cover) by Baboon 2 years ago
The first and second time I listened to this was through the speakers of a Macbook laptop. At that time, I thought the productions sucked big ones.... However, after listening through headphones, I feel quite a bit differently. There are somethings that I think could be done differently, but everyone has their own opinion about mixes. Such is the way with the world.

The song I love. The mix I don't mind, through headphones. I think there could be more space added to the vocals. I believe that the music is mixed well. I have to admit that I was got kind of lost when the vocals came in over the guitar solo, which is the true 1968 sound that I was hoping for.

This is a very talented group of musicians that have come together and I hope that they will do so again. I look forward to hearing more from this group.

I must be constantly surprised, or so it would seem, because I am by the way this comes together too.

Did you use pitch shifting on the vocal here? Very cool and innovative, if you did. I'm also glad to see that you cut the vocals up and moved them around too.

Thanks for doing this!

Another surprise... and I like it.
I'm curious as to how you did the effect on the main vocal without seeming to affect the backing vocals. Very cool, however you did it.
I like how the guitars seem to build and build and build against the laid back vocals.
It seems almost like the beginning of something much bigger.

To answer your question, there is both good and bad news. Of all the software I use, there are PC equivalents. However, your milage will vary when it comes to cost. Although there are many options available on both platforms here is a short list of those that come to mind:

Video Switching:
Mac = Boinx ($199 - 499), CamTwist ($0), WireCast ($499)
PC = WireCast ($499), WebCamMax ($trial - 40)

Screen Sharing:
Mac = Built In Screen Sharing ($0)
PC = VNC ($0)

VoIP Audio and Video calls:
Mac = Skype ($0)
PC = Skype ($0)

Broadcast Streaming Software:
Mac = Quick Time Broadcaster ($0)
PC = Flash Media Encoder ($0)

Hopefully, in the next video overview, I will be discussing the hardware used in the studio. To include the mixer, audio connections, video connections and the big mess of cables that sit behind the desk.

Until You Come Around (final) by Geechi3 2 years ago
I'm not going to comment on the music. I'm only going to comment on the vocal.
I love your voice Linda, but I have to be honest.
I feel that you have some very good points of vulnerability in the vocal here. There are points where you draw back from the mic too and that distracts from the overall quality. Don't be afraid to get a bit bolder on the vocal. Your high register is wonderful - don't be afraid to use it. Give it all, or you give it nothing. You've the ability to convey mountains of feelings in your vocals, but there are points when you seem to be afraid to let those feelings out. If I were the producer of this track, I would keep parts of it, as they are brilliant, and make you re-record other parts again-and again until they conveyed the feeling that the brilliant parts do.

I hope you understand what I am trying to convey.

I love you, your voice and your work, but know you can do better too.

All my best.

While I prefer your more intricate harmonizations and tender vocals, this is also good. There are some aspects of the backing vocals that are a bit abrupt, but the harmony is spot on.
Blue Eyes Cryin In The Rain by RubyDubidoux 2 years ago
I love you Ruby, but I wanted this to sound much sadder, from a vocal perspective than it did.

I have to agree with the others. This is a unique piece that has a lot to offer, on many levels. It is as though one is peering into the jungle from within the comfort of their home.

It would be interesting to see if someone could add and Ocarina melody to this as well.

Well Done!

A little bit more low end would be great, as the overall quality of the recording is a bit tinny.

iCWeekly Studio - Alabama by lummie 2 years ago
Update: The iCWeekly-Alabama studio has undergone some changes. The Mac Pro is no longer in the mix. It has been replaced by two Mac Mini's.
Now, Skype calls are now handled by the two Mac Mini's and one of the Macbooks. The other Macbook is used to conduct the broadcast and handle guest audio. Additionally, the iMac is exclusively used to handle all video switching, which is fed to a Canopus ADVC110 into the Macbook used for broadcasting.
All audio is still run through the Behringer Xenyx2442FX mixer. Audio return for all participants is fed back through Skype through the AUX channels, with their own return muted.

The guitar is wonderfully played. The sound of it is very soothing, as well. Overall, I really enjoyed the track. One can definitely see the inspiration of the guitar. The percussion, in the second half, melted into the mix and sounded fine. They fit like a glove.

The electronic instruments (Synths, arpeggiators, etc.) were a little harsh in the first half and might have flowed better if mixed down a little. The second half of the song seems to flow much better and had less overall harshness.

I, personally, really enjoyed the track and thank you for sharing it.

This is eerily beautiful, reminding me of the movie soundtrack from 2001:A Space Odyssey.

From a constructive criticism perspective, I'd have liked to have seen a bit more work done on the joining of the individual loop cycles of the vocal takes. There are points where you can tell the breaks between the same audio when it loops.

However, overall, the project is an amazing thing. I would like to see more people become involved in this and more pieces be put together. The idea is outstanding and the first project from it is well worth listening to.
