Mark Meisel's soon to be released batch of song-stories, "Farewell Old Familiar", will leave you satisfied from head to toe. The album is a collection of vignettes, painted from a broad pallet, to suit every mood. From the driving pulse of "Gonna Be Me", to the honky tonk strains of "The Mutant Curse", Mark Meisel will keep you moving, grooving, but mostly interested by his thought provoking sketches of life here on earth. Mark's potent guitar stylings and earthy, smoothly-gruff voice, blend perfectly with his skillfully crafted lyrics, to put the listener inside the action.

As a founding member of the award winning Detroit band "Opie's Dream", Mark helped color Detroit's music scene throughout the 1990's. His collaboration with Pete Costantino yielded the much acclaimed "No More Time" album, which was honored by the Motor City Music Foundation.

Before Opie's Dream, Mark's musical journey found him fronting the funk band "Pop-Life". He also worked as a sideman, playing guitar and singing in a 50's/60's review called "Sweet Freedom", where he viewed the complex harmonies to be his own personal course in solfeggio, except in Mark's case it was "soul-feggio"! He was also the driving force behind the schticky Detoit band "Motor City Squares", until the untimely and violent death of collaborator Michael Gatherwright (we miss you man!) Before that, Mark toured Europe for four years, squarely in front of "Common Ground", a rock group where all the players were from a different country, and were based out of Naples, Italy. He has performed for audiences on five contintents, but for some crazy reason continues to make Detroit his home!

Like so many veteran musicians before him, Mark has moved into the role of producer, and along with co-producer Robert Becker, is about to unleash his skillfully wacky art on an unsuspecting public. So plug in some headphones (you won't want to miss a thing), and say hello to "Farewell Old Familiar".
