| i haven't listened to your music in far far too long and I am dazzled by how deceptively simple and easy you make it all seem. Your vocals are evocative, sensitive and perfectly appropriate. But the thing that gets me the most is how impecable your craft and sounds are - both areas where I don't have a clue - your music glistens where mine is ragged - i could listen many times again but am going to sample some others of yours instead. good stuff and thanks. les |

| I love alternate worlds - and you have created one! I remember in early superman comics things could suddenly shift - and you would be in the bizarro world. This is truly the bizarro universe - and how great that you just put it all out there. There are a few times when your voice sounded a lot like Bob Dylan. It took dante a lifetime to create his Inferno - and that was no farce. Nothing sparse about this Evil. Enjoyed it a lot.. Les | |

| Great sound! That hypnotic DGO sound with vocals that blend effortlessly. "Sculpt" is an apt word for the mix. This is as commercially viable as anything you have done and I bet you are going to see wonderful things happen to this both within and outside of IC. Congratulations..this is really good. Let me know when the rest of this music is for sale. | |

| how wonderfully evocative....like from a different era - something from an early color or black and white movie - like THE THIRD MAN (Vienna in the 1940s). Dylan is sounding more like Mark Knopfler every day. Great song - great sound - amazing example of the power of IC - a global collab... | |

| Dontcha just love it when something this extraordinarily good arrives? It feels like it just had to be exactly this way - the whole thing just works perfectly. You two make it look effortlessly easy - which of course is an illusion because this is the embodiment of two really talented guys and as close to really true professionalism as I have heard around here. Great stuff - thanks.. Les | |

I am a new fan - gonna start going through the rest of your stuff. Les |

| It was like jumping into that great river of sound again. About 10 seconds and I was right back there with you. Love how this just grabs you but reveals itself slowly...introducing new melodies and rhythms while never letting go. Your sound is unique and instantly recognizable across all your tracks - that is meant as a great compliment...because you still manage to mix it up in each song. I really loved this track. Listened to it first thing this morning and sent me off to my day with a nice groove and bounce. Thanks John. This is a good one. Can only imagine what the words will do for it! Les |

Great contrasts in this song - senstional voices - great keyboards - fabulous guitars - the piece really grabs and takes me with it - a bit of meat loaf to the vocal there babs - said in the best sense of it --- great tune -- more please! | It's the "sound" - so fat, so wonderfully full. So well assembled and each piece so perfectly complementary to the whole. Takes me back to Tangerine Dream at their best - even a bit of Floyd and David Gilmour. Love the many guitar textures, love the whole thing. Makes me remember why I love this site. It's 8 AM and I am starting my day feeling good. How are you doing with your other venues and sales? God this was good! so much work, so well crafted. I guess you could consider this a rave by a fan! thanks all. . . Les |

![]() it has been too long since I checked in on your music - and I always get that same wondrous reminder - almost instantly - as I am transported to another place - just how much I love it. no criticisms - no tips - no ways to make it better - this is exactly as it should be - a self contained little gem. Thank you my friend for all this time. I wish I were capable of creating something such as this - but, alas - I can't so I keep returning for more of your inspiration. Les |

![]() this is stunningly good and so far out of the box that it compels - you can't stop listening to it. I am flabbergasted that this hasn't migrated over to some sort of commercial radio - it would certainly get play. Perhaps you could send it to someone like Nic Harcourt - host of Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW in Los Angeles -- he listens to music sent to him by anyone. But this is great stuff. Thanks to you both! Les |

![]() The simplicity of this song reminded me of days long ago when I was seriously studying and practicing Yoga and actually living in the ashram of my teacher... many hours spent chanting and, despite my cynicism, it does take you to a different place- as did this deceptively simple little tune. I love words - words are my business - and I like yours. GOod one. Les |

| I was late for work this morning because I was listening to your mugshot and just couldn't turn it off. This is great music. Totally realized and executed - and wonderfully melodic and - yes - poetic. I love your lyrics, singing and playing. How many people are playing on this particular track? I just changed careers - after 25 years of making television movies I gave it all up to work on my first theatrical and your music actually got me thinking of a pretty radical idea - using it rather than paying exorbitant prices for snooty hollywood music. Forgive me for not rating this. It is beyond that. I am completely impressed. Les | |

![]() there is something wonderfully subversive about this epic -- it's what has always attracted me to your work -- and, seriously, how great that you are on the front lines passing along that iconoclastic look at what's not being said as much as what IS to the next generation of warriors. As I mentioned in my rambling email to you John, your work is a continuing inspiration to me. This is just a gorgeous piece. ![]() In an interview about David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) someone said that he creates musical environments and then plays to them - which sounds deceptively easy. | Midnight by etgilles | 2 years ago |
| Hey Jolofsson - you are right - this is my comeuppance for not just laying down the track in time as one should. I had just read an article in The New Yorker about conductors of orchestras - and how they allow themselves to drift in and out of perfect time - sometimes by substantial intervals - to let the music find itself. I did the tracks on midnight deliberately very quickly, without using a "click" track in the headphones - just to let it breathe - as if there were real musicians there and we were laying it down live. But you are absolutely right in your comment. Thanks for listening. I am not Michael Tilson Thomas and there are no symphony orchestras around here. Back to the old ways! |

The melody - as first introduced - is soooo sweet and memorable that I wish you had taken longer to let me get to know it - and repeated it while changing it slowly... a criticism borne only of liking it as much as I do. Thank you for inviting me to listen. Nice work! |

| really gorgeous tune -- so much left unplayed -- so many spaces -- there are so few pieces that make me wish I was capable of writing them! This one made me feel like a poseur; it really does take you on a journey - and then bring you back - only to a slightly different place from where you departed - which is really what art is supposed to do... I am honored that you have listened to a few of my pieces... jeez this was good! |

![]() I was reading an interview with Dave Gilmour (one of my Gods!) and he said it was difficult to find young musicians who could play his older Pink Floyd music because of the spaces in it - the absences of sound. Actually, it was a broadcast interview where you could see Gilmour go through some of the old stuff guitar in hand. And it's true. There are long, languid spaces where nothing is happenning - and it is incredibly dramatic. I think this piece has sooo much going on - so many ideas - that maybe it just needs to breathe a little bit more - which is totally counter intuitive for us all. But I am liking your music a lot. |

![]() This is the first comment I have ever posted on this site. It's interesting how you can tell almost in an instant whether or not a piece of music resonates with you - kind of like meeting a person for the first time. I really liked this - and that means the sensibility behind it too. You look for a sound in the same way that I do - and this was fully realized here. I am going to check out your catalog - as I learn how to play my new old lap steel guitar. |
