Hi Vicki, thanks for listening. I wasn't sure of the genre, too. smiley

Thank you, Sam. I'm not into Rap/Hiphop, too. Maybe I'd try to look for vocal samples that I can use in this song because no one seems to be interested in trying it out. smiley

Hey Olympus, thanks again brother. smiley

Thank you for your comments guys. Anyway, I was experimenting with this one based on the music I hear around the neighborhood. I thought: "Well, I should try it for the second time." The first one turned out to be more RnB-ish than Hiphop. smiley

Thank you, Pharm. I decreased the bass volume level to about 70-75%, upped the guitar volume level to 7% more, the synth at 75% on the verses and upped them to 100% (except the bass) in the bridges. The tracks were mixed down to 160kbps at 44.1KHz. I also upped the treble a few notches and applied mastering reverb. smiley

@ihussain and bassplayer92: The main melody kept on singing in my head during one of those days when I was contemplating on something in the office. Of course, I drew some inspiration from a love who I haven't gotten in touch with. So when I got home that night, I worked on the melody right away and laid down the tracks. I thought the intro melody would catch attention so I used it as an outtro, too/ I'm glad you liked it. Thank you. smiley

I always loved the way Kahlil plays. We've been together in a band back in college and I was always impressed with his excellent skills and photographic memory as he always leaves his bass in the studio and goes home after a practice (we all bring our instruments home). When we come back for rehearsals, he's better than the rest of the band as if his fingers have a memory of their own! This piece is a testament to his skills and extraordinary talent.
Sleepy Head (Rewind) by mongooze 2 years ago
Thank you for your nice comments guys. Yes, a good friend lent me his Fender Strat Sambora and I thought it could lend some subtle vibrato action. I love Hendrix and yes I stole his licks with a bit variation. I'm glad you liked it. Cheers! smiley

Sleepy Head by mongooze 2 years ago
Hi guys, thanks for the encouraging comments. Yes, C_Man, I was thinking of Hendrix' PH... and the horns were from my GR-33. I edited the notes to make it sound a bit realistic. The drums aren't real but are VST plugins. I'm not satisfied with the tone of the second and third guitar fills though (i experimented with it and ended up sounding muddy with so much distortion... though it may depict disorientation from an abrupt awakening from a deep sleep smiley). I'll try to come up with an improved version (I hope smiley...)

Thank you for your kind comments.

Yes, C_Man, the bass for the verse was panned but rather slightly to the left and slightly to the right in the bridge part. I played the bass using my Fender Strat, but the sound was simulated and processed through Guitar Rig's bass module. I also adjusted the bass, mid and hi EQs on the multitrack console. smiley
