Biography
My name is Morgan Robinson,I was born in Los Angeles Calif.Aug.11,1964.I mentioned my birthday for a particular reason,I sing music.....I don't sing olde school or dig up oldie tunes to sing,I sing songs that appeal to me.... and I happen to like 60,70's and 80's kind of music, and to me it was the best music we ever had and no music today or in the future will come close in my opinion. I don't know anybody thats ever been killed over thier music in those days.I don't follow anyone and im very outspoken, but i do think before I open my mouth.I march to the beat of my own drum and if people want to do material because its so called new, more power to em because I do like some of the new stuff and would love to work with an artist on new stuff, but is it really new? Look, I love the stage and live performances and I was never much for studio work, because the studio can mask, edit, and theres no mental or physical rush like the stage and a real audience.I hope I don't offend anyone, but Im just not into todays music that much, because it lack's the big voice, like back in the day.I love Alicia,Mariah,Whitney,Ms Holiday(wow)and Celene, but they are very of few of these voices around anymore. I grew up with a Mother that loved to play the records of Nat Cole,Frank Sinatra,Mario Lanza etc.My Dad played all the old groups,Motown, jazz from Thelonious Monk,Coltrane,Miles,Dinah Washington,Nancy Wilson,Byrd etc .They both listened to gospel artist like Sam Cooke,The Soul Stirrers,Dixie Hummingbirds,so I had a lot of influrence. My special favorite...The Temptations. When I was ten i was listening to the older tempts song's because i thought they're harmony was the best i have ever heard. My dad showed me film strip's he had of them that was amazing,It was from a show in 1964 at the old five four ballroom and man was i stoked.I remember how tall they all were and my dad said that they were all the same height, like 6'3 and they all were trim and they looked like the voices that they song.Soooo very smooth,NOT like the ones in the movie, that herky jerky crap, i mean like Jackie Wilson doing the splits smooth. The Temptations had a great body language,a certain glide in they're stride and people used to ask"can they sing as good as they walk"...we all know the answer to that.My first group I called them 'Debonair",it was three of us always tailor made suits, but not the same suits, hair always groom, pretty hands in motion and always a glide in our stride, because i wanted to appeal to the ladies, like the Temps. They were the first Motown group with they're faces on an album cover. Motown wanted to appeal to the white audience as well,so they put pictures of people playing with beach balls on the beach on the cover of an artist albums instead of the artist. Its not like people didn't know the artist were black, but Motown figured, why press it.You really couldn't blame Motown, because it was still not totally cool for white kids to listen to black music,so if they didn't see them it was ok,I guess. The picture up there of the Temps was the first(album) and Motown's first picture of any Motown artist on the cover of they're own album.I truly believe all muscians are of a brotherhood of international perportions, and no matter what color, shape or genre,so to all my brothers and sisters....I LOVE YA!!
