Biography
Welcome,
Grahame Edwards has had an interest in music from a very early age. He grew up in Essex UK, as the son of a watch and clock repairman. As a young child he spent time at his father's shop, a sound scape of ticking grandfather clock escapements in wooden resonant vessels punctuated by the rich overtones of hourly chimes. This fascination has led to the study and practice of strings, percussion and brasses. Study at UBC in Music Education led to a teaching job then further studies in solfege in the Kodaly method helped along a multi decade career teaching music to youngsters from 5 to 12 in public schools of coastal British Columbia. Enrollment in summer jazz programs began a decade of inspirational experiences and led to encounters with numerous jazz luminaries.
Now retired from school music teaching, Grahame plays around the his region of Vancouver Island in various groups including his own Wire Choir but still enjoys conducting musical workshops.
