Black Sheep-World of Should EP by musikgrl 1 year ago
That's what I'm working on now, how to get the masses to notice. Bob had some good ideas to target public radio and podcasters. Here's hoping.

That's Paul Leschen on piano. He played on one of Scissor Sisters albums. Thanks for the great review.

I don't usually post lyrics, so I'm not sure why the lyrics you post aren't showing up. Thanks for listening to my music.

This is a great piece. Did you write the music, melody, lyrics? Love her voice. I think maybe you classify this as a demo because it could go on more, I hear it breaking out completely at the end. Just my two cents. Great work.

Pretty Little House-World of Should EP by musikgrl 1 year ago
Wow Bob! Thank you for the early Christmas present. A lot of the credit for this effort goes to my producer Mark Ephraim and the great musicians who realized his vision. I will definitely take your advice about getting this out to podcasters and will listen to the Wilco song (love Wilco). Thanks again for your tremendous support. I look forward to your full review.

All Over You (remix) by musikgrl 2 years ago
Thanks GEdewards. I find when I'm composing that my tempos are always slower and then when I get to arranging I feel my way around towards what tempo feels right.
All Over You (remix) by musikgrl 2 years ago
Thx. I think the oboe was in a pack I got from AMG. I will try to find out for sure.

Love the guitar on this. This reminds me very much of Neil Finn and Crowded House.

What can I say, I'll never be an audio engineer.
You Don't Know Me by musikgrl 2 years ago
I have a lot of problems recording vocals. When I think the level is right, I get a comment that the vocal is too loud, so I lower the level. I guess I should have raised it on this one.
You Don't Know Me by musikgrl 2 years ago
This is an original song.
But You by musikgrl 2 years ago
I've recorded it with midi, but because I don't have weighted keys and the sustain isn't as sensitive, it just doesn't give you a great feel. If I do a live record in stereo mode of piano and vocal together, it actually sounds pretty good. Maybe I'll post one of those sometime.

I love this song. Great voice. It reminds me of a mix of Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, and The Smiths(in the guitar part). Fantastic. And the subject is so original.
You Will Crack-live by musikgrl 2 years ago
It was recorded using my Zoom recorder on a table in the back believe it or not. I'm going to perform in the fall playing my own instruments. I did not play piano on that track.
But You by musikgrl 2 years ago
I have to keep it in the final cut because it is playing a bmaj7sus4 chord which is crucial to the song and can't be duplicated by the loops.
But You by musikgrl 2 years ago
Thank you so much. I've only been playing a year and a half. I will try what you suggested for the piano. On another note, can you download a new mix to the original posting or do you have to start a new post? Thanks.
But You by musikgrl 2 years ago
I'm using a Zoom H4 to record the piano. It's an upright and I placed the mic down into the top part, not on the sound board. The pedal steel, drums and guitar are real tracks generated with a program called Band-in-a-Box. Everything was imported into GarageBand and mixed.
But You by musikgrl 2 years ago
I can never get my levels right. It sound ggid on headphones but not speakers.
No End to This Line by musikgrl 3 years ago
I will post the lyrics. Thanks for all of the comments. I have been learning to play the piano the last year, so it's nice to finally do a live take.
Black Sheep by musikgrl 3 years ago
I think it needs much more instrumentation. It is definitely a band-type song. Thanks again for your input. It's much appreciated.
Pretty Little House by musikgrl 3 years ago
Thanks for the kind words and advice. Yes, all the posts are my writing. I write the music and lyrics. I started learning to play guitar and piano about a year ago and will hopefully hook up with someone to do better recordings since I don't have a great set up. Thanks again.
Pretty Little House by musikgrl 3 years ago
Thanks. My first time playing guitar on a track. I'm hopefully going to be playing instruments at my next show as opposed to just singing. Cheers.

Wow. I'm impressed. The most difficult part of singing a song is bringing your emotion to it. You nailed it.

I'll have to start bringing my own mic to gigs. It's always hit or miss and u only get a line check. Glad you like the lyrics.

P. S. I recorded thison my nano with imic.

The reverb is on the club's sound board. You only get about 15 minutes to set up all your equipment and do a quick line check, so each show is an adventure.
