| Thanks for the kind comments. I'll make sure I check out any recent work you've all done. | |

| Thanks for the comments all...yeah, I want to work on the vocals in the verses a bit more. I usually record the vocals/harmonies right after I lay down a basic guitar track and then build around that. I'm not really much of a lead guitarist, but I played with the EQ and tried to make the guitar part sound a bit Neil Young/Dinosaur Jr'ish. Well, thanks again, and I'm off to Starbucks to sign my check over. | |

![]() Nice. Beautiful in a wrecked way (if you know what I mean). The vocals are uneven, but they completely work for the song. Sparse production is haunting. |

| Thanks again for the replies. I'll probably clean a few songs up and try to self-produce a CD and do a website for promotion. And AimlessScene, I'll check out your song. Neumuzik, Unfinished Business is one of my favorites of your prolific posts. I need to get off my rear and write and record more songs. | |

| Thanks for all the feedback...I've been listening to (and occasionally commenting on) cool stuff on this site for a while. I'll try to provide some more feedback for other's comps as well. | |

| Thanks for the review. I probably rushed this one out a little bit, but I'd worked on it for 8 hours straight and felt like sharing it. I'll probably re-record all the vocals, except for the effected bit at the end. I own areally sensitive mic, it's great for vocal, but it picks up every little nuance. Anyways, thanks again. | |

![]() I'm sure this will turn into another great Jobu composition. Obviously a demo. Can't wait for an updated version. |

| The Girl in Apt. M7 by jobu | 7 years ago |
![]() Jobu, I always like your stuff. Yes the production and performance are a bit rough, but so what! The song is a killer. Kinda of Elliott Smith-like, but with your own touches. |

| Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment. I agree with Ryan that the choruses need a little more of a build and a re-record with the vocals.I kind of came up with the vocal ideas on the fly (as you'd already suspected!). I kind of gut stuck on the instrumentation a bit, and decided to leave it sparse rather than muck it all up without having any clear ideas | |
| Never Thought About It by myopic | 7 years ago |
| Not sure I agree that harmonies are "way" out of tune, though I agree with the acoustic guitar comments. I recorded this one pretty quickly to get all the ideas down (and laid down the drum track by playing keyboard live, which could account for some of the timing and intonation problems. I used a pretty decent mic for the guitar at the end, maybe that's the reason for the fairly decent sound? Anyways, thanks for all the comments and suggestions. | |

![]() Man, really cool stuff. I know you reviewed a couple of my songs, and it took me a while to get to your stuff. Sorry. It reminds me, somewhat, of a lost track from the Lost in Translation soundtrack. Really rough and deramy. |

| Andy and August by RyanH809 | 7 years ago |
![]() Nice, simple song. Acoustic guitars sound real strong, vocals just okay. And Borris, I think quite a few songs in the Pop/Rock section are "real" songs with lyrics/vocals/real instruments. |

| Thanks for all the reviews. I don't listen to Love and Rockets much (though I do like them...I may even have an album or 2 of theirs in my closet, which I'll have to pull out and listen to again - remember albums?!?) Anyways, thanks again. | |

![]() Unreal...this is one of my favorites so far. Really beautiful song. |

| I heard that pop too. I'll have to fix that in the final mix. Thanks for all the comments/suggestions | |
| My Fingers are Needles by jobu | 7 years ago |
![]() I think this one is my favorite of your work. Cool breaks and nice vocals and (as always) solid production. |
|
| Bad Saturday by jobu | 7 years ago |
![]() I kind of like that this song goes nowhere fast, it just kind of sucks you in. Nice production work too |
|
| Reversable Centurion (The Song That Won't Die) by jobu | 7 years ago |
![]() Good song. Really strong production work. Just a solid effort in the pop/country vein. |
|
| En Veloci Te by Uber Knacht | 7 years ago |
![]() Kind of a sloppy mess at the beginning, then comes together, then falls apart again. I like it! Very catchy. Rabbit Moon is more my style, but this is nice. |
|
| The Self Made Man by Uber Knacht | 7 years ago |
![]() A little disappointing, but I respect your creativity nonetheless. Just work on those vocals a bit more. I kind of like the mix as is. |

![]() I concur...really cool song. Pink Floyd crossed with something else I can't put my finger on. I'm going to download this one and check out your other songs. |

| Shout of Hatred by Candorwien | 7 years ago |
![]() Good job, but I guess I'm in the minority in that I'm not a huge fan of your vocals. They kind of step all over the guitar melody. But, still, I think you have talent, so keep at it. (And I'm a big fan of "No Amnesty" ![]() |
|
| Maggies' Cafe by Candorwien | 7 years ago |
![]() I liked No Amnesty quite a bit more. Not to nitpick, but the "harmonies" are actually just doubled vocal lines and they clash quite a bit . Doubling vocals can be an interesting effect, but not when they are far off key from one another. Still, I love the creativity and overall concept. I would rethink the vocal line, and either get the doubled vocals closer to one another, or try some harmonies instead. |

| Thanks for the comnments...not that crazy about my own voice (...maybe no one is, except Bono, that egomaniac!), but thanks anyways | |
| Talk to Me by toots | 7 years ago |
![]() Man, really nice. Ironically, I thought the vibes weren't needed (not that they suck or anything). This should be over the closing credits of a great movie set in a southern small town. |
|
| Dominoes by toots | 7 years ago |
![]() Just a solid song. A bit rough around the edges, which seems to fit the song nicely. I kind of like the fact that it boldly goes nowhere! |

| nothing remix by myopic | 7 years ago |
| Thanks for the comments (positive and negative). It always helps. Nothing is sort of a basic "nothing" of a song that I still kind of like. It reminds me of a lazy sort of Moody Blues thing (not to make fun of my own work, but hey...) Lyrics... nothing/nothing in this world can make it real/no one in this place is coming through/nothing you can do will make her feel/having one last chance isn?t true/whistling out of tune can make you smile/drinking in the day can make you sad/remember all the times you fell apart/hasn?t everything turned out alright/nothing changes but that?s okay/nothing changes but that?s alright/nothing changes all the time |

![]() Nice job kid...guitars are a sloppy, but that's fine. Makes me wish I had access to GB back when I was 17! |

| Colder by RyanH809 | 7 years ago |
![]() This is a pretty song. Obviously needs to be finished, but I like the progressions. Reminds me a little of Death Cab for Cutie, but a bit more folk rock. |
|
| Bite the Hand - CONTEST WINNER by joel8x | 7 years ago |
![]() A slight dissenting opinion...not a huge fan of this, though the production work is top notch. The vocal line is kind of tired and over the top. Sounded like old Oingo Boingo to me. |
|
| The Size of It by hotch | 7 years ago |
![]() Kind of a delightful fun mess of a song (that's a compliment), reminded me of Paul Weller a bit, but less affected. Nice job. |

| Can't I consider MIDI nicely played? Probably not! Oh well, I'll change it to "nicely arranged" | |

![]() Nice production job, clean and strong and dynamic. I liked it, you kept it short and to the point. |
