Dancing Barefoot (patti smith cover) by michael2 2 months ago
Hi Michael
good choice of a cover
my first question would be - do you do subgroup mixes? if not, try it - it sounds to me like all you have to do is turn the track down in volume a few db's in order to make the vocals stand out a bit more
send the guitars, bass and drums all to one aux channel, send all the vocals to another
assuming you have got the mix/blend right on each sub mix, all you relly have to contend with then in 2 faders
give it a whirl and let me know how you get on or if i need to explain further

the APOD way of working on stuff is pretty cool and very productive
this was very interesting to work on and its confession time from me - when kevin sent the first acoustic demo, it was actually the first time i heard the song. i am familiar with a lot of floyd stuff but not this one. i deliberately resisted trying to listen to the original as i was working on it on my end. both kevin and michael contributed some brilliant material for me to work with (ie to throw into the blender)

Bill - you do some mighty, mighty fine music

This track is atmospheric, sinister, innocent - all at once

I love the evolving repetition

I also am increasingly becoming a fan of your song art...do you take/make those pictures yourself.

What is this one of?

On Frontage Road by Mungo 4 months ago
I fell asleep once on the motorway driving back from Exeter to Birmingham in the UK...went right off the road. I don't remember what was playing on the radio at the time (I think it was a Carpenters song) but I am pretty sure what I was actually hearing was this

This should be in a David Cronenberg film

I think your music has always set a hi benchmark so the level of quality of your pieces has always been high (for me) However I gotta say, the level of detail in this is astonishing...and on a seperate note I have got to say the same thing for ingenous yet simple song art

fantastic

cat and i were listening to the hinterlands of ashburn (sonicmagpie version) the other night and i was struck by how we had managed to construct our shell over your original skeleton (of course your original was much more than a skeleton) without changing the skeleton at all

listening to this reminds me of the imagining the possibilites that we heard when we played the orginal hinterlands of ashburn (mungo version)

Hamburger Lady (Throbbing Gristle cover) by robby_reverb 1 year ago
Robby
I remember buying this record (DOA: Third and Final Report) from the embryonic Virgin Records in Birmingham UK back in 1978
Hamburger Lady was one of my favourite pieces...I must have played that record a thousand times...you have captured the dark, disturbing mood of Hamburger Lady extremely well
Now, me you and Randolf need to do a version of TG's 'Something Came Over Me'
b

PS...I bumped into Genesis P Orridge once, in London... I spoke with him for a few minutes, interestingly his voice was just as disturbing in general conversation as it was on Hamburger Lady

b
Frankie Teardrop (Suicide cover) by robby_reverb 1 year ago
