Thank you all for your kind words - I'm glad you like the song - it took a lot of time to get it right!

Thank you very much for the comments. You're right, Dylan - it's not 'only loops'! Thanks for pointing it out.
the hit man - demo by paulfisher909 3 years ago
Thank you all for the nice comments. The 909 suffix happened when I needed some numbers after my name in order to open an e-mail account. It is a Beatles tribute, rather than a Roland one!

Nice feel to it, sir. Kind of early REM with Roger McGuinn singing.

the vocal shouldn't sound far away, really. there seems to be a problem with the reverb/stereo on certain systems, and I'm not sure what can be done!
the real thing by paulfisher909 3 years ago
thank you very much. I was going to record this as a motown-style stomp, but people preferred a slower acoustic demo I had, so I decided to try a phil spector version. the fuzz bass 'solo' idea is inspired by his recording of zip a dee doo da, as well as the jesus and mary chain. that's my girlfriend, julie, during the "dear diary" section, sounding suitably '50s, I reckon.
the hospital bed - demo by paulfisher909 3 years ago
thank you. It's good to know that people like this stuff. I recorded this on garageband using an mxl 990 microphone through a behringer eurorack, with an acoustic guitar and melodica. the keyboard is a garageband wurlitzer, I think.
you don't scare me (you're part of me) by paulfisher909 3 years ago
thanks again for your positivity. it's very encouraging, for sure. all of the songs from it's a long time from a to b (apart from this one and 'something stupid', which were recorded in a different place) were recorded at a community studio in gateshead, england. most of the musicians were friends of friends or people who were advertising their services.
in your hands - demo by paulfisher909 3 years ago
thank you very much indeed for your lovely comments. I think I recorded this straight on to garageband using the mic on the front of my emac; hence the background noise. it's just a demo, really, but I kind of liked the feel of it.
