| they're sort of supposed to be diverting and disconcerting. the whole thing-- it's supposed to be uncomfortable and not-entirely-conscious-- like something expensive and metallic rumbling around in a washing machine. am *I* making sense? and yes, you grasped the vocals entirely! like ghosts. like things struggling to fit on one side of the line or another, and hovering someplace in between, entirely discontented. to clarify, i don't feel this way often. but i do sometimes. i feel like these days, i'm treating my music as a filing system for my emotions, as if in giving sentiments melodies and jangly upsetting percussion lines, i can tag them for the purposes of future feeling. or box them up and push them away. you know? |

| Tous Les Mers by signorina_oscurata | 2 months ago |
| la pierre = stone... Pierre = peter. French has a nasty way of making a bunch of words that sound the same all mean different things (and frequently, be spelled differently). such, for example, as the past participle of the verb 'to be' and the word for summer... also, weirdly, disconcertingly, many of the more complicated verb tenses sound the same spoken aloud, and it's only on paper that they seem different, and while, then, my spoken French SEEMS quite good, and i can hold a conversation about Satrian existentialism with any old French dude, my writing is sometimes unintelligible. BUT. mystery solved, i hope? (and thanks for the great review!) |

| quite like it. here's a song for the active listener, the participant. i like how you diverge from the vocal sample, then change tack a little, then bring it back once you've reached a different place in the song. | |

| Stop War - In Pace by dirigent | 6 months ago |
| your voice reminds me of a particularly moving experience i had... on a gray day while standing outside of a relatively small, moss-covered, but ornately carven cathedral in the country town of saint-lys in france. it was close to noon, and i was with a very good (french) friend. we stood by the front facade as mass came to a close, and the choir inside took up a last hymn-- the noise was muffled, coming through the walls, but the voices were so pure, strong, and full of feeling and conviction. they sung beautifully, like you. you could be one of them, easily! | |
| Three Christmas Motets by dirigent | 6 months ago |
![]() frightful pretty ... wish I had as much control over my vocal chords!the harmonies in this are not the canned, pasteurized, and expected. beautiful dissonance. if they did this sort of thing at mass, you bet i'd go without fail... |

| Dance of the Navel Gazers by soulima | 6 months ago |
| this is a hell of a coherent atonal piece. i can't usually relate to this kind of thing, but this is easy to get into the groove of. it took me out of my zone of expectation, but didn't make me uncomfortable. great song! |

| Layton's Easy (dnb mix) by sAro | 6 months ago |
| i listened to the version without the drums, and i liked it, but think this one flows much better, as it's tied together with the percussion so well. I love how the vocals track between speakers, and how you can use the faltering beat to effect. you definitely have a better hand on production than i. |

| jammin with kate...why hold on by j0j0 | 7 months ago |
| This is a winner, jeff! I'm shocked-- in a nice way-- that my vocals meshed so well with a completely different feeling. I approve wholeheartedly of this version! (also, who told you that the mandolin is my favorite instrument?!) |

| This is so pretty! Granted I'm a little late to the party, but I was perusing and the title attracted me (I'm a poetry geek). Your playing put stars in my eyes! The good kind, not the kind that come from dehydration/staring at sun/concussion. | |
| The Wreck of The Trainwreck by sonic_magpie | 8 months ago |
| This is quite impressive. Everything of sonic_magpie I've heard is impressive. Effective in portraying both themes you discussed in the description-- I really hear the "train" near the end, though! It's a noise portrait, but equally musical-- the warmth of the atmosphere is a pleasant surprise given the mechanical (or, in the sirens' case, maleficent) nature of the subject. |

![]() I love the relaxed feeling... which I suppose is the point of it having been a jam... but it's so unhurried and self-confident (in a good way-- makes me feel that way, too). I like the atmosphere. I really do feel like I'm in California, or something. |

| YOUR BODY & A BOTTLE OF RUM by Barretok | 8 months ago |
| a perfect slice of somebody else's life. the cleanness of the instrumentation provided a nice contrast to the nature of your voice and the words you were singing-- the effect was as though you could remember bits and pieces of a relationship with exacting clarity. | |

![]() I'm on my second play of this song, and love it, love it, love it. Reminds me of wintertime, and that particular clarity of mind that comes from listening to yourself to think for a while. It's like a wordless anthem for the balanced-at-heart. |

| Girl from Ipenema by fatchance | 8 months ago |
| i like this a lot! i usually don't have the patience for jazz (and everybody turns and glares at me), but this is different. a lot of different spinning plates around one central theme, and vocals that perfectly match the rest of the track. | |
| Contemplate by TheKomrades | 8 months ago |

![]() This is hauntingly beautiful. A style reflecting the subject matter. Your voice reminds me of the vocals from Nickel Creek-- the male bandmembers, Sean Watkins and Chris Thile, had this way of sounding like a collaborative instrument when they sung. I could be crazy, but... |

| All in All by Mikee | 8 months ago |
![]() Humming is reminding me of Damon Albarn. He's wistfully hummy and it always sounds like he's singing from inside a room all the way down a marble hallway, but that's probably his choice of effects.YOUR choice of effects here is original and makes me feel like I'm being abducted. I wish i were wearing a tin-foil hat to protect myself. I really like it as a sort of transportive interlude. I don't know what I'm trying to say. I just really like it. |

![]() This gives me the creeps. In a really good way. As in, it's totally effective, and I feel like someone's coming up behind me wearing a leopard skin and holding a club. I like how the meek voices mesh with horn, and then it gets a sort of solo... |

| Ooooh. Odd. I like this a lot. Not what I'm used to hearing, but I'm glad. Actually, I ran a google search to find a sociopathic personality profile, then read it while I listened to the song... the result was super-creepy. As everyone else, I especially like the chopped-up speech in the end... |

| Chant Funèbre by dirigent | 11 months ago |
![]() This, I think, is the first of yours I've heard. And man oh man... You have a voice any singer (male or female) can envy. People refer to the voice as an instrument, and I've never heard proper justification for that-- until I heard this. This was very intentionally done, and what I'm starting to work in a layer-by-layer, what-sounds-good sort of way, I retain my appreciation for things that are thought out and well-executed. I appreciated this so much. |

![]() I love the way this sounds. The first thing I ever sang in public was 'Om Namah Shivaya" by Krishna Das, so the eastern sound was very welcome, and you sound like so many of my favorite singers. As far as your pitch goes, I like it the way it is. One of my qualms with a lot of music today is that too much emphasis is placed on uniformity, and nowhere near enough on style or vision. I love how this came together for you-- you wove a lot of ideas into one whole, and I think every part of the song is necessary and complements the rest. |

| i almost didn't want to touch it, it sounded so good. but i compromised-- didn't add instrumentation or anything funny like that, just vocals-- copious vocals. At first, a bit of my normal, primadonna writing-- then a little surprise from my french muse. oops. with your permission, will upload so you can hear. |
