Listening again. Reminds of Ives','The Unanswered Question'. Still love those complex polychords. Real music for real musicians. Brave and daring and harkens me to compose atonal music.

HALLELUJAH by SISTERS 22 days ago
Wow, the great Canadian(k, is that an oxymoron,eh?), Leonard Cohen - sung by you. Covered plenty, my favourites include Annie Lennox and K.D. Lang. Range? Pshaw... you do it justice! Loved my listen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m66gWbBRXKE Annie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE KD Lang

Tough to decide the best cover? Much as I love Annie Lennox, Ms. Lang just blows it all out of the water.

Action! Drama! Intrigue! by dcoscina 23 days ago
Sonically, it sounds terrific. Excellent, idiomatic orchestration for film. Especially liked the dropout to string tremolos and French Horns with Xylophone and Gong at the end! Dramatic work, David!
Quaint Pastoral Theme by dcoscina 25 days ago
Yes, shades of the American school, but also early twentieth century British pastoral lyricism. Lovely. Some of the string work and percussion were a tad present in the mix for me, but an enjoyable listen, David, none-the-less.

Evensong: Let Evening Come by mlpbadarak 1 month ago
Glorious indeed, Mary. This piece seems to epitomize your Art. Uncluttered simplicity - lovely phrasing - spiritual - hopeful. Reminds me of some British composers of the last century. I also like your use of unresolved suspensions, that major second left dangling in the last chord is perfect!
Afternoon by ZipZipper 1 month ago
Very pretty... nice chord progressions and movement. I could do without the bird 'atmospheres', and just let the music speak for itself.

Olympics by maglasser 1 month ago
Enjoyable and evidence of 'compositional chops'. I liked the rhythmic devices and polytonality. To my ear, it's only the rendering that brings the music down. Perhaps you have outgrown GB and it's time to consider more sophisticated software? Well done!

Stairway to Heaven by 1935Rubino 1 month ago
I have piano music for this as well, and tinker away from time to time, as it's a great piece of music. Not that well suited to piano, but we try. I like Chris' comment best,'I guess what this track really proves to me is that Page and Plant are not a worthy to pick out Chopin's toe jam.' So true!

The third Larghetto movement of Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 1 (1828) is an early, but by no means the earliest, example of 5/4 time in solo piano music. Reicha's Fugue 20 from his 36 Fugues, published in 1803, is for piano and is in 5/8..... according to Wikipedia.

Wondrous Love by DennyCicak 2 months ago
Hardly ambient - this is church music and of the hymnal kind. Even though I am in no way religious, I love hymns. There's a lot to be learned from hymmal music. The entire history of what we call,'Common Practice Period' is in the hymnal repertoire. I like how you respected that history, but created something new. Synthesis!
Storm Chaser by videoscore 2 months ago
Interesting use of extra-curricular musical elements in the introduction. When the music kicked in, it was nicely atmospheric. Nice to hear a melody kick in over the swelling accompaniment.
Apparition by videoscore 2 months ago
Interesting that Paul states it as being in a minor key - there's no minor 3rd in the arpeggiation - just suspended notes and chords. Major to my ear. I like it. It's an accompaniment looking for a melody, but I like what you have done so far.

Trio For Oboe, Harpsicord And Cello In E minor, Movement 1 by JoelIrwin 2 months ago
Suspect that the Oboe player was hoping that it was written for Oboe d'amore (in A, and pitched a minor third lower) than the oboe, although the player did just fine with all those notes in the basement of its range. The music itself is obviously mannered, but kudos for good writing within the style.
