Bought my first synth then (SH101 Still got it. I love that machine)

Started on Jarre then Tangerine Dream and Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, Schulze etc

Use fruity loops 7 (Bought and paid for!) Try very hard not to use loops and play everything from scratch using piano, synths, soft synths and electric and acoustic guitar.
