Awesome and clever. Very nice touch, using the author's own poetry reading as the launching pad! Gritty music, I like this one

Very fine attempt. I could visualize trying to forget a bad memory and trying to recall things and having trouble doing so in the music. What kept stumping me were the small pauses. I'm going to listen several times to figure that out.

I thought this piece did exactly what you meant to do by invoking images of space, nebulae and the essence of time. Definitely the kind of trippy music to listen to when just zoning out. Very nice.

Not as incoherent as your description suggests! The guitar and the rhythm tracks hold this nicely together. Sort of orderly chaos.

I can't wait for your "demo" to be finished. This is a lovely song, the writing is very nice, the vocals are good, the guitar is played sweetly, just like the song itself.
Kinda reminds me of Loggins and Messina back in the day.
All in all, very well done so far.

5

I was a bit spooked by this song. Perhaps it was the title, but I think it was more the vocals. You have an incredible voice and i'm glad you are sharing it with us at iComp. The 4 under "production" is for where the vocals were cranked a little too high and were a bit more distorted than I thought should be.

Not only is this the PERFECT corporate song (My company -employee owned ALSO just mentioned this mysterious "Vision Statement" as of a few days ago), it's the PERFECT song for the Dilbert Generation! We need to make a copy of this song and send it to every pointy-haired micro-manager out there!
AMEN!
This will shortly become my Customer Service Office Anthem, replacing "If I Only Had a Brain..." (which still works, but this is much more comtemporary).

I'm hard pressed to descrribe my admiration for this version of this wonderful song, since I've decalred John Stebbe's version the utmost...However, his does not have vocals, which you has so generously and with great talent and feeling provided. I feel justified in rating you as high as I can. Thank you!

this is NOT the B flat Blues that I know (having learned things in a very unstructured structure) BUT it is a B flat Blues that RULES.
I'm just about one of your biggest fans and am always in awe of where you send me when you (and in this case YOU and your band) play.

Creativity and Performance don't get a rating in this instance, since it's all loops.

BUT, I think you have hit upon the intended use of these loops in a way I haven't heard before (and that is saying something).

Nice job, it flows nicely and has a consistent, pleasing sound.

Everything you do amazes me. My mind wandered to a wonderful vision of the story from which you were inspired...very lovely.
I only hope one day you are "found" by the Hollywood folks because you have a great and expansive sound. I would be truly in awe if you were at the helm of an orchestra.
Thank you!

THIS one is by far my favorite of your tunes. The synths are mixed a bit too hot for my taste, but then again, i'm not in an auditorium or hall where this should really be jammin'. I like the ned of the song, like an unexpected demise...quick, but meaningful...
Proximity by cmason86 6 years ago
I'm a BIG Moby fan. Hence, I shall refrain from commenting on your influences...I'm just not sure this is as danceable as E_R believes it is. Put some BUMP into it and I'm dancin', k?

Whoa. I "Get" music and this doesn't seem to be it.
Your "vocals" got mostly lost in the mix and this didn't much end up either comedy OR music.
The idea was almost ok, the execution...NOT.

Frantic by kristyjo 7 years ago

At first, I was listening thinking, "Doesn't sound too 'frantic' to me..." and THEN the synths came in. Very nice blend of sort of happy sounding vibes and the contrasting synths which sounded as if they were almost annoyed at being in the song.
All in all, I think you acheived an atmosphere worthy of your title!

My biggest problem is the same one I have with many songs here on iCompositions: "It's too danged short."
There have been MANY wonderfully creative and well crafted tunes here that just end up being "teasers." In fact, your first 'commentator,' Mr. Stebbe is one of the culprits himself (no wonder he didn't mention how short the song is)!
Anyway, I love it, I just wish it were longer.

I think the original is fine by itself. In this mix, the harmonica is overwhelming. It's good, but too much. I actually like the first take better. The original (although it is missing the harmonica altogether) is more appealing to me.
