Duke's Return (w/Vocals) by JD 5 years ago

who's on bass? that's a tight little line there. would like to see the lead guitar a lot more up front in the mix. atta boy ray. i dig the mix of vocals, sometimes one sometimes two ---- is the other vocalist baboon as well? vocals perfectly quirky, a smidge mysterious, a tablespoon of bitter. good stuff.

the irony is, that fifth guy never got paid.

great stuff. this should be in the folk category in my opinion. solid acoustic ditty , might find a larger audienece categorized as such.

the enigmatic songsmithing of a young gunslinger of a
writer. i want the prequel and sequel. and i want things more convoluted. i want cowpokes and lawmen and dead villains. bam!

costello-nian springs to mind. bam. this is cool. liked the intro- and -repeat-as-hook line, and the background vocals work really well. stumbled onto it. chicks-of-an-eye-color tunes don't always work. this was a perfect, short ditty that does.

i like your chord progression, and the layering on this is cool. is that a moog toward the end? a swirling effect just perfect for the concept of the song. i'd like to hear it earlier in the tune. other than that, great stuff.

a breath of fresh air. the playing here is phenomenal, really enjoyable.

it was an enjoyable few minutes of lyrical burst, much fun. i do like the forray into the obscure occasionally, but if you read between the lines, there's a message there for all ages, eh?

thanks for the remarks on vocals. vocals consisted of 6 or so of the same dude, some guy who wandered into the studio looking exactly like me.

chris this is killer. simple, dead-on, eloquent, piece. love it..

quintissential vocal, shades of Holliday; a stellar performance just with the right mood. guitar is perfectly placed, and compliments the whole deal. finally, hats off to uncletuplefan for penning a real beauty. vivid imagery, you could walk right into the place

it's people like you that keep the major airlines bankrupt. you fiend! and yet, haven't we all been there, chaffed beyond belief by the unfriendly skies? a lovely thing. shivers up my aeronautical spine.

i like the guitar here. a few offbeat chord twists, , and then that arpeggegio toward the end. my favorite part. seems like you got something off your chest, too. always therapeutic. maybe a smidge too long, but good stuff.

it's out there, in a good way. kooky little introspective takes power turn into space and back, with enough musical gurglings to make sergeant pepper proud. yes.

this works on many levels. appropriate inter-noodling of guitar. perfect pacing. just the right little drum, and laid-back , mellow vocals. good stuff, good stuff.

i respect a man stepping up to the podium to express (vent?) his views. this is a unique feel --- this feel very 1983 to me, in a good way. cool.
When Worlds Collide by Matt Granz 5 years ago
yes, yes, he said. you've entertained me. this feels very late 70's punk to me, a solid production and a wailing melody. tight, but loose enough for purist. and i always dig a song about our friends from other planets. they don't get enouhg PT

perfect use of the bionic "boing" sound effect in the apex (if you will). it says it all, in a sort of demented, heartfelt, prepubescent way. a pop gem, with obligatory oscar goldman reference perfectly inserted. this paul is an artist to be reckoned with.
