This moved across the room like the unfolding of a dark night. Black felt rim. Windows open to let in the blackness.

Vapor, you are quite generous.

On the bass: no way I could get that bottom-of-the-quarry sound with my P-bass.
Wanna Be Luvd By U [feat. jlgerk] by vaporman 6 years ago
Rolling, fantastic production, smart delay on the vocals, effective guitar. But pardon me if I say there isn't enough bass. Maybe you could make another pass with some keyboard bottom? Still, there's a great uptown feel; undeniably cool.

Your keyboard riffs seem to come from a naugahyde-upholstered, deep-carpetted neighborhood lounge from Carrolton St, uptown New Orleans. And your singing got more and more comfortable as the song rolled on and over the dancers. Good show, Nanga.

There was some background noise, some wild ambience going on that was intriguing. And a wealth of guitar lines were tossed out, too. Harley Breakdown lacks a central motif, I suppose, but I enjoy a jamming jelly roll like this, regardless.

Totch notch, x. That first guitar riff pineappled my rum. Superb guitar all over the carpet.

darkly flashy, dramatic, great urban gritty textures; the falsetto is excellent - song structure existential - just enough climax and resolution to satisfy. somehow the journey seemed intriguing even if it didn't end with a girl or a murder. our peregrinations sometimes end with a dwarf on a curb, a fender bender, a drunk talking to himself.

the wah somehow reminds me of the work of Leo Nocentelli - in my salad days I worshipped at his altar, for sure - and that reminds me of the Crescent City in the 70's. Like your tune it was a gumbo pot of styles, some psychedelic, but most of it the roots sound over a straight and strong rhythmic pulse.

these perceptive and really helpful remrks from ana and candor are why icomp is a golden place. Merci, musos! BTW, a subsequent version of this song has synth melody and I'll upload it when we get to IC3.

Oh2, wish I had. Drum riffs both courtesy of GB2. But it's nice when one of our loops almost sounds like home-made.

I like the way you integrated the banjo and other non-predictable riffs with the business-as-usual in Wendalberry.

That's kind of you, artneuro. Lol: this reminds us of the hoary showbiz adage, "Leave em asking for more." Owing to your encouragement I plan to fill out the opus. And look up your songs, too.

Your remarks, Johnathan, are constructively critical. Thanks for caring. I'm knocked out by your emotional and metaphysical analysis. Indeed, the symbolic content - the juxtaposition of cultures and textures - is intentional. One hopes a listener will consume what's between the lines.

Merci!

Lol, basil.

Your Beatlish opening builds well. Imo it's hard to find solid string voices like yours. Maybe it's in the tweaking. Jeff Lynne and McCartney come to mind re your ability to use strings to rock us.

It sounds real pro, I must say. How'd you make that lead synth trill like that, Mr. Fingers?

Highly effective drums. I can see the bloke pumping away, head down, sweat beginning.

basil, lol: You're quite a wordsmith. You've offered me one of the most detailed critiques I've had here. And you've been critical but genial. Thanks, bro. May I do so well after listening to one of your tunes.

Evocative of the journey. Effective subwoof and wah. Pig snort. Light quiffle.

Something to revisit? Maybe the first guitar melody. It's not as odd and original as I'd like. Of course, I'm a longtime guitar picker and I hear guitar cliches maybe quicker than a general audience.

What's the dustrider object in yr illustration?

Pardon me, but I cannot wait to show the moves to me lady.

Lovely spiraling pattern of spatial beamings and small dissonances. It's jjazz, beatboy.

Soulhappy bass break.

Feeling of inexorable movement like a shark going out for supper, looking at all the choices in a hurry. The choices go on and on, as does his appetite and his sharkskin suit.

Updated ambient soul with an agreeable dose of amelodic sweetness. Solid work, Orph.

Like it when the lope is interrupted by fuzz guitar. Then there's the relief that comes when the synth corkscrews return.

Effective use of stock loops making something slick out of what-we've-all-heard-before. Also, Junched: "Insect chatter in the luxurient undergrowth;" lovely writing, lad. Sorry bout the blunt ending, gsr.
