Simpsons Movie

D'oh

I saw it last night. It was good, but I wouldn't say it was leaps and bounds above the TV version. If you've seen all the trailers, you've seen most of the best gags.

Overall, I was disappointed, but my experience may have been tainted by the drunk in front of me who laughed every time a new character came on screen or talked, "Ha Ha Ha, There's Skinner's Mom!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!!" "Ho Ho Ho, Homer ate a donut!!!"

My expectations were probably too high.

It was a toss up between The Simpsons and Die Hard 4.0 for me. The queue for DH4 was a lot smaller, so that won. But I had to endure the guy sitting next to me eating non stop all the way through the film. He started on popcorn, paused and went to fetch a hotdog, ate that then went back to the popcorn, nearly choked on it, had a coughing fit for about fifteen minutes. When that finally subsided he continued with the remainder of his popcorn, scrabbling around in the dumpster sized box for the last remnants. When he'd finally finished every last scrap it was time for him to slurp on his oil drum sized fizzy drink.

Little did he know how close he was to being beaten to death with my shoe.

Oh the joy of going to the movies. However, DH4 was very enjoyable. Bruce can still do the business.

I suppose The Simpsons will be full of unruly kids when I do finally go and see it...can't wait for that.

There many unruly kids at the showing I went to, but none of them were under 16 years old. The younger ones (what few there were) were behaving very politely. It seemed as though the particular theater we were in was full of drunk, obnoxious high school and college kids who were walking around and yelling at their friends during the movie.

MonkeyGirl (10 years old) was with me, and I had to make her cover her ears because of the profanity being shouted at the top of people's lungs. At one point I thought we might have to leave just for safety reasons. I've never been in a situation like that at a public movie theater. The college owned theater was a different story. I'm sure Baboon could tell you stories about Capen Theater and the craziness there!

Whatever happened to just going and watching a film? You shouldn't have to put up with that sort of behaviour, it's out of order.

Nightmare.

Ha! Robo's description of the dumpster size box and oil drum sized drink is hilarious!

I've never been a Simpsons fan, so I won't be going to the show. Anyway, vap, glad you survived the unruly audience.

I saw It yesterday and it was just fine. Overall, there is only like 1 second where you see the worst nudity of bart and then Homer really screws up when he dumps a huge thing of pig crap in the lake and nearly dooms all of Springfield.
I would still give it five stars.
