First Day
August 20, 2007 | 10:39 pm

Back to School

I had my first day of classes today. It was just like being a student again, except scarier. I'm still not done with my old job until Friday, so right now it is a very tight schedule. I'll be very happy if I make it through the week!

Just promise me that you won't throw erasers at the class.
I had an instructor that did that once. 'nuff said.

Best of luck, Vap!

Wow Illum, that is dangerous. I heard someone lost an eye to that once ..

If ever someone threw anything in my class, I gave them a story. I reassured them that that their arm was good, that their throw was probably harmless and possibly they could go through school and never cause an accident throwing things in class. (pause). However, they were in trouble and would have to serve some time because of what will happen one day. One day, in my class, someone is going to throw something, which they will feel is harmless, and another person is going to get hurt. Later, when I'm asked what I did to prevent that happening, I'm going to say that I never, ever, let anyone throw anything in any class. smiley, or is that ,) ?

I got hit in the eye by an ice cube once. I lost the vision in my left eye for about a week. Throwing things in class is indeed dangerous. It is interesting that you brought it up illum - the guy who was in charge of the journalism side of this program back when I was a student used to throw things at people every time they made a mistake. Not just erasers, but pens & other sharp objects. I always liked him, but I thought that was a little dangerous. One of the weather guys at t station I worked at threw a nickel and hit a girl in the head. He wasn't really trying to hit anyone, but it bounced off the wall. She was the President of the company's neice!

I hit my teacher from 20 feet with a hook shot. Paid the price for that one. At the moment I am teaching my 7 year olds how to throw so that one day maybe they too can reach such heights.

I got hit in the head with a peanut M&M from across the auto shop in High School. It didn't really hurt, but I quietly walked over to the guy, picked him up and stuffed him in a trunk of a car that was being worked on. He was locked in there for two classes (3 hours).

Mua-ha-ha-ha-haaaa.

Babs, you know that guy is still claustrophobic to this day. He probably breaks into a cold sweat every time he opens a trunk - and he sells his car every time there is a problem with it because he can't bear the thought of going into the shop.

How's the class going so far? If any of the students throw M&M's at you, let me know...

Classes have been very exciting so far! It is refreshing to be around people who have hopes of conquering the world. I actually don't dread going to work every day!

No M&Ms so far, but I did have a Mt. Dew explode on me.

oh Vaporman, you shouldn't have made it so easy for your students to track you through the internet! Now I have to bring M&Ms to class tonight!!!
