This song is very good. It's a bit unusual and I enjoyed the lyrics. You sing well also. Nice work!

Really a great song. Is it me or is the whole thing panned into just the left speaker? Other than that, it's terrific. Great mix, sound, and songwriting.

I was listening in my car and I agree about the guitar. I thought I might try to write some more lyrics for it also. Perhaps we could do this song as a Reverend Black tune and somebody could add some lyrics. I kinda got writer's block after the first verse.

In the description I meant to say "cheeriest." Freudian slip? Who can say. Oh, and what do people think about the arrangement. The only place where all the instruments play at once is at the end. How's that workin' for ya'?

Thanks. Yeah, I know my singing stinks. That's why my good friend Diversion is kindly enough to sing on some of my tunes.

Thanks. I put the drums together one note at a time. I varied the velocity on some notes and, with the snare and cymbals, I alternated between the 2 different snares and 2 different cymbals in software instruments.

Love the song, of course. The video's really cool. Great work all around.

Besides really loving that movie, you're take is fantastic. It kind of reminds me of Monty Python songs, with a big, burly, manly chorus. Classic.

Look for a new version of this song by Reverend Black in the next week or two. It's in a different key, ahs WAY better vocals (by someone besides me) and a much cleaner performance and mix. All in all, the new version will be much much better.

We've got lots of stuff in the works that's pretty complimentary to this (though I wouldn't call it "country" by any means.) Thanks for the feedback.

It's got a great sing along-y melody. Kinda reminds me of the poppier stuff by The Queers. (I liked your Pizza thing too.)

I like it. I like sparse arrangements, as many people (myself included) tend to try to cram too much in a song sometimes. I agree that the vocals shoudl be mixed a bit more prominently. I like them subdued like that but they get a bit overshadowed by the synth thing in places.

Looking forward to hearing some of your original stuff.

You play a mean piano there. Cool.

Not sure how I overlooked this song earlier, but I really like it. Well, you know I like all your stuff. This one goes on the second Reverend Black Recor.
When Worlds Collide by Matt Granz 6 years ago
Reminds me of Frank Black, though I like this song better than some of his more recent work. Clever lyrics, too.

Would it be unethical to rate this a 5 all around?
I Already Know (with Villhelm23) by Diversion 6 years ago
Not sure if I should confess this but...It took me about 10 minutes of wondering why my guitar playing wasn't lining up with my drums to realize I wasn't playing in 4/4. D'oh!

Great bass line. I like the stripped down style.

I really enjoyed this song. I paticularly like the organ. The guitars are mixed well too. I'd mix the vocals a bit louder. The beginning is great, also.

I'm going to rewrite the lyrics and as far as influence, it the Pixies. Thanks for the advice.

Check out the version Diversion did. He sings it a lot better. And I absolutely LOVE the Violent Femmes.

Yeah, I've had a hell of a time trying to mix this song. This version is about 3 or 4 mixes old and I'm still not completely satisfied with it. As far as being sloppy, well, you should have heard my high school punk band smiley
She Was That Kind of Girl by villhelm23 6 years ago
I came up with the lyrics off the top of my head as I sang them, then revised them later. I think Dylan used to work this way. Thanks for the comparison.

Yeah, I'm not a very good singer, but I'm working on some collaborative stuff to try to remedy that. Thanks for the feedback.

I notice you're using the stand up bass. I like to use that one a lot too as it gives a great sound. One suggestion regarding the bass: I find that adjusting the velocity on the bass notes so that they don't all hit full force. I think with the mellow groove of your song, a smoother bass sound would be great. I really like the piano and the end of your song.
