Thanks for the comments everybody. merlino, I can tell you exactly what I did to record it, but you can't tell anyone else, it's secret!  It was a live recording of our recital in a medium-small room with a tightly packed audience. (I dunno if that actually has much effect on the sound...) I set up two AKG Perception 200 mics: one near the bass and drums, and the other near the two horns and piano. However, they were less than 10 feet apart, and it was more just to capture the atmosphere a bit better than to mix the sound. In fact, I didn't do any mixing or EQing at all. The only thing I used GarageBand for was to lower the volume a tiny bit. I'm glad you liked the sound! |
